Legend of Ys Books 1+2 Coming to America

Another thanks goes to ATLUS for bringing us two game classics into 1 package. Which's that of the Turbo Grafx 16's classic; Ys I & II. Unlike Turbo's version though, we get a more updated version. This includes the following;
  • 3D Landscapes
  • New translation

You can view the site here

I'd be excited about this, but Ys 1&2 was already released on the Virtual Console several weeks ago. While having a map would be pretty handy in the Tower of Darm it's definitely not worth rebuying the game for. Some of the lines in the old translation are hilarious too.

Now an Ys III DS release would be nice to see.

How ya doing, buddy?

Hm, looks like a dumbed down port of the Ys Eternal games actually. I don't see any point to getting this though when I can just play Eternal 1+2 with a 100% fan translation. I may buy it anyway just to support YS over here... on the off chance it means we could get other games in the series again.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Um, it isn't a dumbed down version at all. ATLUS is offering this as an enhanced port.

* New-translation
* Updated visuals
* 3D backgrounds etc...

I just beat Ark of Naphitism a few weeks ago and fucking loved it.

I bought Books I&II on VC, but I'll definitely be picking this up. Now let's get Oath over here too please?

So I suppose getting the CD-A music tracks from this version would be asking too much?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Have you ever actually played the Eternal versions of Ys 1+2? This doesn't look as impressive at all, honestly, and I highly doubt the audio will be up to par with either Eternal or Book 1+2 (TCD).

Still, it looks good for a hand held version and I'm sure it will offer interesting things to make it worth playing; I was just commenting on the visuals and audio based on what I've seen-- which are clear downgrades from Ys Eternal. Really, 3D doesn't automatically = better.

I heard the DS remakes were freaking garbage. Falcom themselves didn't produce them and they just aren't that great. I hope Atlus is working with the development team to patch up the controls (I heard you actually have to push an attack button in this version). I like ramming my enemies, thanks.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yes, there is a button push required, which felt so much more convenient to me.

What they need to work on is adding an actual attack animation (instead of a wave-looking thing being emitted from the sprite).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
