I've watched the trailer like eight times by now. Pure awesomeness. I'm extremely excited. I like how no one cares that it's called the Wii anymore. Nintendo knows what they're doing here.. They announce that they're calling their new console the Wii, attracting huge amounts of coverage and strong reactions from just about everyone. It doesn't really matter that it was mostly negative; everyone was paying attention when suddenly, boom, they start announcing things about the new SSB game. Now everyone wants a Wii.

Marth is my favorite character to use as well. He may not seem so special on first glance, but he's very versatile. The sword gives him excellent range, and his agility allows him to dodge the enemy most of the time. Let's not forget how useful his Counter move is or the fact that he does more damage with the tip of his sword, meaning he doesn't have to get close to the enemy like Roy does.
I also like Young Link more than Link. I always enjoyed the speedier characters, and fire arrows are definitely cool. Aside from Marth, Falco is another one of my most-played characters. His high jumping is pretty useful, and his gun can actually knock the enemy back a bit, unlike Fox's. I hope they don't alter the existing characters' playing styles too drastically. I was disappointed in Kirby's playing style in Melee in comparison to the original. In the original, he was a powerhouse, but in Melee he's almost unplayable. I definitely do want them to alter Ganondorf's playing style though, because it makes no sense for him to be a clone of Captain Falcon. Give him a sword, make his style unique. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Captain Falcon's running speed is quite fast, sir. Furthermore, Fox's running speed is much faster than Falco's. That's my only point. Their attack speed is about the same, but Falco hits harder and jumps higher, while his third jump doesn't get as much distance.

I would really hate if that happened. Sheik is one of my favorite characters to play as.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
When they originally included Jigglypuff in SSB, they hadn't introduced the gender system in Pokemon. So I think it's probably safe to say that this Jigglypuff doesn't have a specific gender as of yet.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Pfft, it's pretty obvious what he means with the image.
And about new stages, what have you, it's possible that that an Akaneia stage will be included. They intended to include it in SSBM, but ran out of disc space, I think? Maybe they just ran out of time. It was a setting from the first Fire Emblem game on the NES, I believe. FELIPE NO

What's wrong with the Gamecube controller? I don't have any problem with it. I'm sure moves requiring button combinations would be no harder to pull off with a Gamecube controller than they are with a PSX or X-Box controller. Hell, Marth's -> + B attack is basically a combo requiring a button combination like you'd see in Mortal Kombat or something, and I can pull it off.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeah, that's a good point, really. It's easy to learn how to play any certain character in SSBM, but over time, you can learn more and more ways to use each characters' techniques to the fullest.

Eh, I enjoy fighting games with combos and movelists to memorize, but I don't really want SSB to turn into that. Both types have their place. I will have to say that SSBM is my favorite fighting game, though, and perhaps its accessibility is why.

Melee is already a game based on luck. If you get the right items, you can make up for a lack of skill.

I hope the trophies come back, really. I loved that in SSBM.

I wouldn't mind seeing another F-Zero character. Captain Falcon needs a rival of some sort. Samurai Goroh, perhaps? They showed him in the opening for SSBM.
Most amazing jew boots |
Blood Falcon wouldn't be a very good choice, since he'd probably just end up being a clone. And more clones is the last thing we need. In fact, I'm hoping they make some of the clones more unique this time around. Give Ganondorf a sword, make him less like Captain Falcon.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
SMRPG characters would be awesome of course, but since most of those characters are owned by Square, it's most likely not happening.

Paula would be nice, but you're forgetting that Ness basically stole all of her potential moves.

Yeah, I'd love to see a variety of different bosses, tied in with adventure mode or whatever. I believe that was discussed earlier on in the thread.

And yes, I have seen Giygas. I own Earthbound, after all. It's been years since I last beat it though, so my memory is probably failing me. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
