This game is already shaping up to be a Nintendo fanboy's wet dream. If any more third-party characters are added, it could become a gamer's wet dream, which is probably what Nintendo would like.

The best character to equate Sonic to then would probably be Jigglypuff (see Rollout). Super Smash move would probably involve Super Sonic. Anything beyond that...
