Thin forum style?
An annoyance I've found with reading posts and journal entries is their lack of readability. Not because of color or font issues but the length of the actual lines of text. The forums are set to expand to the maximum width of the users resolution, and even at 1280x1024, it gets a little jarring to read one whole line.
My suggestion is to add an additional "GFF Thin" style that people can use. From my experience, all it requires is a simple addition to the Body portion of the CSS styling for the boards. Code:
width: 775px; Here's a screenshot of it in action: Spoiler:
EDIT: I think a 1024(1000px) wide forum would work best. When I rotate my LCD view 90 degrees, it looks phenomenal. Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'd just like to say that I am all for a thin forum style.
Doubt it will ever happen though. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Actually, just dragging the right edge of the browser window in a bit to shrink the page display area seems like a more reasonable solution to overlong lines to me than creating a whole other forum style. Unless you need to have the window maximized at all times for some reason. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
(Mechanism copied from my GFA language switcher) How ya doing, buddy? |
o code reuse u
(seriously, though, the JS width autoswap kinda neat) I was speaking idiomatically. |
Ooh, very cool. I like the 1024 set size a lot. Switchin'...

Goddamn this rocks! He even does it with AJAX.
Thank you! CHz, yeah, I mean browser width, not desktop resolution. FELIPE NO |
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
It should show up for everyone, I've added it to all templates. Check the very bottom of the page.
(It's not AJAX, it's vanilla JS) Jam it back in, in the dark. |
