Europe is a Christian Cloob!

Since the European Court of Human Rights upheld the banning of the hijab in state schools (applicable to all 25 member states), Europeans seem to have done everything they possibly could to make Muslims feel unwelcome, and especially to give the Turks the finger.

Swiss voters, for instance, recently passed a referendum banning the construction of minarets on top of the country's mosques by 57.5%.

Yet to top it all off, Germany and France recently pushed through the nomination of Herman van Rompuy, Belgium's PM, as the EU's first president. Herman van Rompuy is, btw, pro-Christian and has pretty much said that Turkey will never get in the EU.

Quote:
EU president: Herman Van Rompuy opposes Turkey joining - Telegraph

Herman Van Rompuy, Belgium's Prime Minister, has in the past spoken out against Turkish EU membership because, he warned, it would dilute Europe's Christian heritage.

His position on the issue is so strong that he has won the support of Vlaams Belang, the controversial far-right Flemishh anti-immigrant party in Belgium.

Speaking five years ago, as an opposition politician, Mr Rompuy, a Christian Democrat, argued that Muslim Turkey could not be considered a candidate for EU membership.

"Turkey is not a part of Europe and will never be part of Europe. An expansion of the EU to include Turkey cannot be considered as just another expansion as in the past," he said.

"The universal values which are in force in Europe, and which are fundamental values of Christianity, will loose vigour with the entry of a large Islamic country such as Turkey."

Filip Dewinter, a Vlaams Belang leader, said: "We are entirely in agreement with Van Rompuy over this question and are convinced he will defend this point of view as President of the EU. It is for this reason we openly support him."

Mr Van Rompuy's opposition to Turkey is set to cement British and East European opposition to him during Thursday's summit dinner to appoint a President and Eu foreign minister.
So are Europeans just trying to be worse than America or what?

Turkey is not fit to be in a civilized society, I don't understand why this is hard to see.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, Europe no longer has right to claim moral superiority over Turkey regarding women's rights, for one thing.

Now Croatia on the other hand...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's not like the rest of Europe has a retractable blade built-in to their apple trees.
At least not legally.

Perhaps this is the result of the several decades of being an open liberal bastion of tolerance and acceptance has finally bitten them in the ass, when they think they can go the opposite of what led them to WWII, they've only come back right where they started.

I've heard anti-Semitism is back en vogue in Europe. You'd think that quality alone would help Europeans and Muslim immigrants there to bond, but I guess not.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I think you've heard wrong. The most right winged party in Denmark (if we ignore the tiny Nazi party)(this party, the Danish People's Party is compared to Hitler and Nazism by every left winged worth his salt. But then again, what isn't) think that jews and israelis are top notch. Hell, one of the leading figures even recieved the Rauol Wallenberg Medal (I presume that it is something that the Danish Rauol Wallenberg Institue gives)

I was under the impression that it was mostly muslim immigrants who cultivated antisemitism, because it isn't most europeans.

But I might be mistaken?

What about the European Left?

From Great Britain through Germany there seems to be a rise of anti-semitic (primarily from anti-Israel) attitudes in their wing, the very same Left who does not see much of a problem with Muslims in Europe, it seems.

We have our fair share of anti-semitic leftists in the States too also, but they're pretty much limited to Academia.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

See, whenever you talk about something that starts with Capital Letters For No Reason that's a hint that you are dealing with something more akin to sinister myth than anything to do with reality.

What about Argonezar The Ageless? I heard he also hates the jews

This dude might pretend otherwise but christianity in europe is vestigial.

The main reason to bar entry to Turkey is that as a society they have about as much trust in evolution as Americans do.

They're barbarians.

Also, geography.
Would this be the same geography that says Cyprus is part of Europe?

Similarly, if the geography says that Turkey isn't part of Europe, why then is Istanbul one of next year's European Capitals of Culture?

How ya doing, buddy?

Only the southern part of Cyprus is in "Europe". That says a lot about which geography we refer to.

And that's probably the same that makes a good part of current EU's head make Constantinople Istanbul one of the 2010 capitals.

But apparently Greeks have less supporters than Palestinians.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Well it's not as if nobody could see this coming from miles away - The rapidly increasing Islamic population and the fact that most modern terrorism against the westernized world stems from radical Islamists, and though it may be westerners who bring it onto themselves by being so arrogant; hate begets more hate and basically the radical Islamists have impeded their own culture's growth by trying to prove some asinine point by bombing people.

Now they've done that, people are wary of them and have slapped limitations on them as way of keeping them on a leash within their own country.

I mean I lived in an Islamic neighborhood for 3 years, and a good majority of them were really nice guys, even nicer and far more hard working than you know, the native locals. Then some crazy guy from a few streets down the road decides it's a real good idea to bomb London in some demonstration against western civilisation and people start asking me why I'm living around murderers.

Shit sux yo.

Now compare that to the fact that back in London around areas like Tooting, it is undeniable that teenage and young adult Muslims are quite a large factor in the local public nuisance factor and crime rate. Or even in France where the outskirts of Paris are like "The bad areas to be in" given the high number of poor immigrants and crime rates due to poverty. It's really no wonder why xenophobia is so easily fuelled when at the end of the day, only a small amount of it comes from culture clashes, whereas the rest of it comes from wealth and poverty dissonance.
