Mine too, although I haven't listened to a lot of Merzbow. Well, 16 albums is quite a bit, but taken in the context of Masami's HUEG discography, well, 16 ain't much.

I don't think I've ever posted any Incapacitants, eh? They're awesome, probably even better than Merzbow sometimes. I'll see about posting some soon.

All this noise music I have yet to be exposed to.

How do people get a hold of noise music in the first place? It's all but impossible to find in stores, especially when you live in the middle of nowhere...

Furthermore, all my friends look at me oddly when I tell them I listen to 'noise music' - they hadn't even heard of it before I mentioned it. >>

Most of the noise I have I got from the Internet. They're also mostly out of print, if I'm not mistaken.

I only have one physical noise release, and it's the Napalmed / Merzbow collaboration. I found it in a shop specializing in metal/punk, haha. I was looking around their stack of cds and... whoa!

If I hadn't bought it it'd probably still be there.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, though my city lacks a really nice, large, quality music store, there are one or two specialty record shops around that carry stuff like this. One near my house even had Merzbow's 6-disc Houjoue boxset for a while, but alas I was too poor at the time.

And yeah, I don't really talk about noise-music with most of my friends. Why it pays to have a wide-ranging taste.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Curses. If it's on the internet, I am having a hard time finding it.

Would love a hard copy of the Merzbox though. That's the stuff dreams are made of... out of print, I believe though.

Yes, out-of-print, but still fairly easy to acquire if you have the cash to spare. Not exactly a huge demand for the thing.

That's both heartening and saddening.

With the trend in music going the way it is though, I wouldn't be surprised to see noise making some kind of more accessible creep in the next ten years. Sound only seems to get heavier and heavier...

I agree entirely, especially with the indie crowd embracing Sunn O))) and Thrones and similar acts. Probably just the Melvins connection that's driving it right now, but hopefully it can come into a more popular light without being totally bastardized.

I was actually just about to ask if folks who listened to dronedoom also were the folks who tended to enjoy noise.

oh, and I'm currently uploading Project 86's Drawing Black Lines and Earth's HEX: or Printing in the Infernal Method.

So in that I'm new here, what are the guidelines for uploading music? Just, generally, try to expand musical tastes, and don't offer stuff that's overly popular?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, I uploaded the best selling album of all time once (The Musical Version of the War of the Worlds), but that says nothing of it's popularity among the average age of users here. You'd be surprised how many people haven't heard Jeff Wayne's masterpiece.

I was always under the impression that the bestselling album of all time was The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits.

I think that uploading pretty much anything is kosher, Draz. People tend to put up more obscure stuff because there are a lot of really serious music lovers here that already have most of the more popular releases, or choose to ignore them, but there have certainly been posts of more-popular-than-not music that have been appreciated. Basically, as long as you're not posting My Chemical Romance or Panic! at the Disco people will look kindly upon it.

How ya doing, buddy?

Are you thinking in America or the world?

Cuz the Jeff Wayne's MVotWotW website says it's the best selling in the world.

Alright, you're right about the Eagles' just being #1 in America – but they're #2 world wide. I did a bit of research and the best selling album worldwide is (unsurprisingly) Thriller with about 40 million copies. From what I can gather, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds has sold about 14.5 million.

I'm so confused. I guess they're not considering those things to be "musical works" when they mention it on the website.\

Meh. It's still good shit, 14.5 million sales or no.

Grabbing both of Schadenfreude's uploads, o' course. Liking the Merz so far, the Naked City sounds delightful from review alone.

I love eYe and everything he does.

Wouldn't you figure that an album or artist's promotional website would tote higher qualities than actually existed? "This album is the best selling in the world.. you should buy it!"?

Speaking of eYe, I'm uploading Hanatarash's 2nd album right now. Hanatarash is (was?) eYe's noise/performance art project. Infamous for, of course, the incident where eYe drove a bulldozer through a club wall where Hanatarash was performing.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I remembering hearing that. Didn't it cause 60,000$ some odd worth of damage?

I wonder if a less abrasive musical project featuring eYe exists. That would be awesome.

Also, Schadenfreude, you are my musical upload God. I worship your uploads. ^^
