Asking out to Prom?

Yes my final year of high school is coming to an end. Prom is coming up! For some time I've been thinking about the perfect way to ask a girl. This is my last dance, and I wanna somehow make this a memorable one. Any ideas how to be slick/creative on asking her out?

How ya doing, buddy?

Have some other dude ask her first. Works every time!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If you ask me, the memorable moments will come at the actual event, not in the asking out.

So along that line, I say you keep it simple, just ask her politely, maybe you can sweeten the deal with some flowers?

Or you can almost go with the classic "Will you go to the prom with me? Yes/No/Maybe" note. If the date goes for that kind of cute thing.

I always thought the asking-in-a-cute way thing was kinda' gay. I mean, it's not that big of a deal in the first place. High school is fucking retarded.

I was speaking idiomatically.

You could just walk up to her and say, "So, what time do you want me to pick you up for the prom?"

Whatever you do, don't make a huge deal over asking her. She'll think you're creepy if you do.

Yeah, ask her out normally and you'll get a normal answer.

Big mistake.

Rule #321321: Do not be so presumptious to say such things. Women like confidence, but they don't like arrogance in such a blatant form.

Why not just ask her "Has anyone asked you to go to the prom yet?" It makes a good segue into the conversation and you can safely take a course of action without making things obvious.

I mean, its better to ask if she has a date before you actually ask her and rejected, right?

Depends on the girl. I'd be much more likely to laugh at a guy who had the balls to say something like that (and then say yes) than I would be to agree to go to the prom with a guy who was visibly nervous about asking me.

But I think we've already established that you and I like different types of guys.

Must suck being a guy, is all I have to say.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Not making things obvious? By asking a question like that, it's pretty damn obvious that he wants to ask her out, unless he follows it up with Cute, you have found yourself a friend! I'm so proud! or No? Tough luck, I hope something works out for you; laters!

Either way, why wouldn't he make it obvious? I dunno if going to prom with a girl would work out too well if she won't even be aware of it. Unless the guy is into the whole ''imaginary date'' scene.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Its a little more gentle on the nerves.

Its not SMACKING AND OBVIOUS like "Hey, what time do you want me to pick you up?"

And at least you can BACK PEDAL if need be. Are you kidding.

Well, that exact line might be too blunt if the girl doesn't have really high self-esteem, but in general, leaving room for 'backpedaling' seems kind of lame. Like being apologetic for even having the idea of asking her out. Has anyone asked you to go to the prom yet? Because if not, and you're totally out of options, would you consider me, perhaps?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Or how 'bout just "would you like to go to the prom with me?" I mean, Christ, you give youself more anxiety thinking up the question than you would have if you just asked.

While I agree with you (I really do), I don't know exactly how comfortable the kid is with asking the chick out.

Judging from how he posted and worded his inquiry, I imagine he's not the kind of dude who is direct, upfront, and holds himself in a great light. If he's making a thread on the internet inquiring as to "how to ask a chick out to prom," he's not the direct kind of guy.

I think its better to be direct. But I am only trying to help a guy out, man.

Just make sure you ask as early as possible...you dont want her to say no because theres no time to look for a dress, etc...

I see, i see...you can't blame me for you not being able to read code which is so obvious. :juggler:
To AliceNWondrland: Where, exactly, do you draw the line which separates a self-confident guy of a vain monkey wannabe?

And, back to the point: doyeon Good luck with your date!

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

This wouldn't be nearly as funny as it is, but it's how I asked my prom date out.

Edited for simply terrible English.

I happen to have a degree in computer engineering, sir. I read your code just fine. I just find it a little queer that your post sounds like the inside of a robot's brain. And posting in code-speak on the internet is not nearly as esoteric as you'd suppose. It's almost as bad as calling yourself a hacker.

I couldn't care less if code-speak is not esoteric/uncommon/whatever...the content makes sense, so it's what counts.

It might makes sense to those that can read it. I can't, so it's a waste of space for me, and everyone else who can't read it.
