Well, as long as someone does. That review had peaked my interest.
As a sidenote, last month Megaupload was giving me 400-600 kbps every time I used it, but now they're back to the 30-50 average. Weird stuff. Additional Spam: All right, never mind. After a handful of tries over a few days it finally gave in and let me download the thing. Good stuff. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Amara, I recently found a copy of Air's Pocket Symphony which comes out this March. Interested?
Additional Spam: You beat me to it, Ence. I advise everyone download Congotronics as quickly as possible. What a record. Also, if you like that, be on the look out for the compilation "Congotronics 2" which features a bunch of obscure artists in the same vein as Konono No. 1. It's rumored that Konono No. 1 have something like 50 self-released albums in Africa that are all but impossible to find. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Thanks for those other Tin Hat Trio records, MetheGelfing. I really enjoyed the first one. It reminded me of the Waking Life soundtrack.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

FINALLY SCHADENFREUDE'S MARVELOUS RETURN!
Seriously, everyone listen to that record. One of my favorites. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I have a good deal of the Tzadik catalog, so just give a shout if you ever want to give any of it a listen. I honestly don't think that label has or will ever release a bad album.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Sure thing. Expect a MEC post today or tomorrow.

And yeah, I don't really talk about noise-music with most of my friends. Why it pays to have a wide-ranging taste. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Yes, out-of-print, but still fairly easy to acquire if you have the cash to spare. Not exactly a huge demand for the thing.

I agree entirely, especially with the indie crowd embracing Sunn O))) and Thrones and similar acts. Probably just the Melvins connection that's driving it right now, but hopefully it can come into a more popular light without being totally bastardized.

I think that uploading pretty much anything is kosher, Draz. People tend to put up more obscure stuff because there are a lot of really serious music lovers here that already have most of the more popular releases, or choose to ignore them, but there have certainly been posts of more-popular-than-not music that have been appreciated. Basically, as long as you're not posting My Chemical Romance or Panic! at the Disco people will look kindly upon it. How ya doing, buddy? |
Alright, you're right about the Eagles' just being #1 in America – but they're #2 world wide. I did a bit of research and the best selling album worldwide is (unsurprisingly) Thriller with about 40 million copies. From what I can gather, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds has sold about 14.5 million.

Loving that Atheist record, kuttlas.
Also, everyone must download that Earth record that wvlf uploaded. One of my favorite albums of all time. Most amazing jew boots |

Sure thing. I'll up a mixed bag of Melvins.

I believe Iwata upped that Daedelus record right near the beginning of the thread, Methe. It's a great album though.
Right now I'm upping the strangest album I've ever heard in my entire life, so be on the lookout. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Additional Spam: The link's been updated. Also, nice call on The Shaggs, Amara. It's a classic. "I'd rather listen to The Shaggs than the Beatles." - Frank Zappa FELIPE NO

I gotta say, Methe, I've been consistently impressed by your MEC posts. Even a Mike Patton project I've never heard. Very nice stuff.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I think there's more of a connection between The Shaggs and punk music (in the Slits or The Raincoats vein) than between The Shaggs and Noise music really. For all their ineptitude, they're trying to write pop songs, whereas most noise acts have gallons of talent but purposely fuck around and do weird things. Noise rock really has stronger roots in free jazz than in stuff like this.

Hey, whatever. It's still great music.
How ya doing, buddy? |
You thought the 1973 Wicker Man sucked?
But... wha... I don't... ... This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
