Well, as long as someone does. That review had peaked my interest.

As a sidenote, last month Megaupload was giving me 400-600 kbps every time I used it, but now they're back to the 30-50 average. Weird stuff.

Additional Spam:
All right, never mind. After a handful of tries over a few days it finally gave in and let me download the thing. Good stuff.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Amara, I recently found a copy of Air's Pocket Symphony which comes out this March. Interested?

Additional Spam:
You beat me to it, Ence. I advise everyone download Congotronics as quickly as possible. What a record.

Also, if you like that, be on the look out for the compilation "Congotronics 2" which features a bunch of obscure artists in the same vein as Konono No. 1.

It's rumored that Konono No. 1 have something like 50 self-released albums in Africa that are all but impossible to find.

knk, I'd love that, thanks. I'm just getting into Air as of... roughly, this week - so yeah, I'd enjoy listening to more Air.
It'll be up tonight.

Thanks for those other Tin Hat Trio records, MetheGelfing. I really enjoyed the first one. It reminded me of the Waking Life soundtrack.

Dude, did you ever get that album? Lemme know if you need me to put it on another page.
Thanks for the offer, but the site came through for me a few hours later without any difficulties. Great post.

Seriously, everyone listen to that record. One of my favorites.

Just posted Painkiller's "Buried Secrets". More Zorn!
Again, another record you all need to hear. Zorn is God.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have a good deal of the Tzadik catalog, so just give a shout if you ever want to give any of it a listen. I honestly don't think that label has or will ever release a bad album.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

OMG, loving the Naked City album. So delicious.

Is that Mike Patton on vocals?
Though Patton does do quite a bit of work with Zorn, the vocals in Naked City (as well as Painkiller) are done by Yamataka Eye of the Boredoms. He's also a fairly renowned visual artist, creating the Boredoms cover art as well as a working with a handful of other artists, probably his most famous being Beck's Midnite Vultures.

This is my favorite Merzbow release, other than maybe one or two of the Merzbox discs.

All this noise music I have yet to be exposed to.

How do people get a hold of noise music in the first place? It's all but impossible to find in stores, especially when you live in the middle of nowhere...

Furthermore, all my friends look at me oddly when I tell them I listen to 'noise music' - they hadn't even heard of it before I mentioned it. >>
Well, though my city lacks a really nice, large, quality music store, there are one or two specialty record shops around that carry stuff like this. One near my house even had Merzbow's 6-disc Houjoue boxset for a while, but alas I was too poor at the time.

And yeah, I don't really talk about noise-music with most of my friends. Why it pays to have a wide-ranging taste.

Yes, out-of-print, but still fairly easy to acquire if you have the cash to spare. Not exactly a huge demand for the thing.

I agree entirely, especially with the indie crowd embracing Sunn O))) and Thrones and similar acts. Probably just the Melvins connection that's driving it right now, but hopefully it can come into a more popular light without being totally bastardized.

Well, I uploaded the best selling album of all time once (The Musical Version of the War of the Worlds)
I was always under the impression that the bestselling album of all time was The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits.

I think that uploading pretty much anything is kosher, Draz. People tend to put up more obscure stuff because there are a lot of really serious music lovers here that already have most of the more popular releases, or choose to ignore them, but there have certainly been posts of more-popular-than-not music that have been appreciated. Basically, as long as you're not posting My Chemical Romance or Panic! at the Disco people will look kindly upon it.

How ya doing, buddy?

Alright, you're right about the Eagles' just being #1 in America – but they're #2 world wide. I did a bit of research and the best selling album worldwide is (unsurprisingly) Thriller with about 40 million copies. From what I can gather, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds has sold about 14.5 million.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I believe Iwata upped that Daedelus record right near the beginning of the thread, Methe. It's a great album though.

Right now I'm upping the strangest album I've ever heard in my entire life, so be on the lookout.

Hey, knk, could you reupload that Dion McGregor album; some of the other downloads in that post are still going strong, but that one's dead. For some reason.

And it's the one that's got me most interested from your description.
It'll be up by lunch today.

Additional Spam:
The link's been updated.

Also, nice call on The Shaggs, Amara. It's a classic.

I think there's more of a connection between The Shaggs and punk music (in the Slits or The Raincoats vein) than between The Shaggs and Noise music really. For all their ineptitude, they're trying to write pop songs, whereas most noise acts have gallons of talent but purposely fuck around and do weird things. Noise rock really has stronger roots in free jazz than in stuff like this.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
