What Kyuss are you putting up?
How ya doing, buddy? |
If you like what you hear, I have their entire catalogue, including bootlegs.

wvlfpvp, massive props for the Zappa. I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to him, really.
Here's the original "Beatle's Parody" cover art, which the record company misprinted as liner art: This version, while maintaing the original drum tracks, has a good deal of lyrical censorship. The only places you can find it in the originally intended version is the original Canadian pressing, the Old Masters Box, or the hard to find CD reissue on Zappa records. For specific info, check out http://home.westbrabant.net/~hades/P...censorship.htm . This record was originally going to be a concept album involving Lenny Bruce, who gigged with the Mothers, called "Our Man In Nirvana". This was not released, but later turned up as part of the Beat The Boots series. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I just put up three albums by Scott Walker. He started out doing these great twisted operatic pop numbers in the sixties, real strange stuff. Imagine Pavarotti singing about opium dens to a Morricone score. He drifted into obscurity after his 1986 album Climate Of Hunter, but came back with a bang with 1995's Tilt, a real brainfuck of a record. Critics hailed it as musical genius or denounced it as garbage. It didn't sell amazingly, but that was nothing new for Walker. He released the follow up to Tilt, titled The Drift, last week after 11 years. On one track, the percussion is him punching a slab of meat. And his voice is still in great shape. Definitely check it out.
Double Post: Also, just put up a bunch of punk records. I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm throwing a bunch of albums up from all over the genre-scale tonight and tomorrow night, so take a gander!
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Just finished a Prog Rock megapost, as was discussed in Majin Yami's journal. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Sure, I'd join.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I've been wanting to hear this too. Thanks Jinn!

Nice post, Admiral Amara. Tom Lehrer is certainly an overlooked figure these days.

Wow. I honestly didn't expect that many people to be into Opeth.

Nice up, wvlfpvp. I recommend everyone give a listen.
Any chance you could up those various and sundry remixes as a separate file as well? I'd love to hear them, but already have the actual musical. Thanks. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

I've changed to sendspace myself. I tried Badongo a while ago and instead of uploading it froze my browser. Maybe they've gotten better.

I believe that first Peter Gabriel record that Devo posted is actually self titled, not Melt.
Also, loving that hip-hop compilation you posted, Ence. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

In addition to all of the records that the good Admiral uploaded, if you're new to the band I'd also recommend checking out the band's 1992 record Dirty, which has been reissued in a great two disc package with lots of bonus material.

And sure, more Sonic Youth comin' up in the next week and a half. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I believe I upped In The Court Of The Crimson King a while ago, but the link would be dead by now anyway.
Robert Fripp is god. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Well, I finally got around to upping more Sonic Youth and King Crimson. Enjoy.

Thanks for that soundtrack, Ence. I remember the first film where the music really hit me was Cronenberg's Naked Lunch, which is a collaborative effort between Howard Shore and Ornette Coleman. I've been looking for a copy of that one for a while now without success.
Spoiler:

Hey MetheGelfing, I'd love to hear that record you posted, but savefile.com is giving me some real shit - we're talking <1kbps download speeds. Any chance of getting it upped at a different filehost?
