Why everyone keep asking same question over and over? I think I saw clones of this thread all over GFF and most posts in Hardware section have this question in it... am I right?

This is going to be another VS bashing thread-.-
7950 GX2 is a wacky sli card. Just small differents to 500$ cards and pretty lame as soon as DX10 card gona be out (end of this year).
If you like nvidia go with 7900GTX or ATI X1900XTX.

It's only SLI if you put two of them together. Even though the card itself is two 7900s put together, it's not subject to the lameness and problems that SLI is prone to. Also, the drivers for the card were just released a couple days ago so it's all good. Technically, ATI doesn't have an equivalent single-slot card.

I've read by review that the 7950 is a powerhouse card, and is nearly twice as fast as fast as two 7900s.

I'll just stop now because this thread is incredibly lame, and by judging by his grammar, he's probably 13 and couldn't afford afformentioned technology.

I was speaking idiomatically.

"Racial" is definitely not the word you're looking for.

I'm kind of the same boat I will soon be considering in a few months which parts I will need to overhaul my 2 year old PC which I built myself.

My advice is to just hold out and wait for the new DX 10 cards from both Nvidia and ATi which are not too far away, that way you will have the choice of getting a DX 10 card and also the price of the current cards which are on the market will have fallen. But if I did have to choose, it would be something from the Nvidia 7 series, but if you do go for SLI make sure all your hardware is compatible and also it may seem a bit of headache at first as my friend found out.

How ya doing, buddy?

Top of the line! Poor choice of words in your statement.

Something tells me I'm wasting my time with your thread. But how about you give people more information on what you are building first. What is it exactly do you want?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I for one would like to know regardless, I have only had experience with Nvidia and the new PC I ordered is coming with an ATI. From all of the reviews i have read, both companies usually match up fairly well. So, I'd assume going with either of the newer cards they offer would be fine...

All. If there's a radio button, I chose the most expensive one. If there were check boxes, they were checked. But really, that's 2GB of Dual-Channel Memory. With all that there, you might as well get a ton more.

My two cents on the ATI/Nvidia wars:
While both companies produce GPUs with roughly the same performance at any given time, there seem to be more game developers who optimize their products for Nvidia cards. At least that's the impression I get from running into the "The way it's meant to be played."-slogan all the time. So when it's a close call between products from either company, I'd probably follow that perceived mainstream. Could just be good marketing though.
