can't set up wifi connection for DS

Everytime I attempt to use WFC I get the following message from the settings menu.

IMAGE >> http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/928/12665994gy1.jpg

I've had to enter the required info manually (and correctly - i.e. the WEP key, IP address, primary DNS etc.) but I keep getting the same message (in some cases the error code changes but is still within the range).

These are all the options available to me, I've checked a number of topics from this forum and others but I'm still unable to solve the problem.

This is the wifi dongle I'm using. Whilst the nintendowifi site does not have this dongle on their "router compatability ratings", neither are half the other products that do appear on their support pages (the one where the site tells you how to reconfigure the settings).

If it helps im on Windows ME and my ISP is AOL. Are there any people out there with the same system and/or ISP who are able to connect?

Please help

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No, that does not help. You're fucked on two fronts. ME and AOL.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

lol I figured those two would be worth mentioning.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

the box in my hand says it'll work with windows ME. Also I have tried using my phone with the dongle and wifi works with it. Thanks for replying.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Er, you're suppose to use THE Nintendo Wi-Fi dongle or a router to connect your DS online. o.o

And if you do get the dongle, it wouldn't work anyway because you have AOL and Windows ME (bad combo!).

I know people who can connect without the official nintendo dongle. I've more or less given up on this wifi business for now anyway...

Did you try ad-hoc instead of Access Point?

Do you have internet connection sharing on?

Can you do a MAC bridge between your wired connection and your wireless one?

Disclaimer: I've never done this before

Do you even have a wireless router in the first place? You don't need any adapter or the Nintendo dongle if you already have a wireless router to connect to. If you have a wired connection only, you need to use the Nintendo WiFi dongle (or a similar bridge adapter), which is not a WLAN adapter (the thing you bought).

Surely not in that disastrous combo of AOL and Windows ME!
