A Halo spinoff wouldn't be a bad idea, but they should only start on it after making Halo 3, and finishing the story of the original FPS series.

I wouldn't mind a videogame that goes through the rise of the Covenent. Things like the conquest of the various species throughout the ages and such.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hell, I know it from myself that one can get to eager. (Which is why I posted something about Red Steel in MArio's Warp Room a whole day after a thread was made about it. I'm still crying about that...)

But he saw it on a forum about Halo 3. Therefore, although it has nothing to do with Halo 3, it is somehow relevant.

No such game as "Donkey Kong Gimmick Beat" though.

You may be confusing it with Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. It used the GC bongos in a really unique and fun way, that was not at all gimmicky, but an original way to play the game.

You should rent it!

Woo. Hope that comes first. I'd rather not see a talented developer like Bungie just waste away on Halo sequels.

Despite Bungie's claims to the contrary, US magazine Game Informer has declared that its article on Halo: Forerunner is not, in fact, an April Fool's joke.

According to the article, Forerunner will feature "huge persistent worlds" built around a modified Halo 2 engine. It'll also have a co-op mode for up to four players.

A Bungie type dismissed the article as "an April Fool's gag" on the developer's forum - but in its latest issue, Game Informer says it's all true.

And that's not all - the mag is also claiming that Bungie's rumoured 'Project Orion' relates to a special ops team which is looking at the possibility of developing a massively multiplayer Halo game.

Sounds like fun - but is it fact or fiction? Well, looks like we'll just have to wait and see what turns up at E3 now, doesn't it...

Why the Halo 2 engine? Why not the original Halo engine?

I mean, Halo 2 was alright. But if they can pull something off that replicates the original Halo in the success and replayability departments, it'd be so much more beneficial to Bungie. I'm not trying to tell them how to run the show, but since a huge amount of people favor Halo over Halo 2, it would of made better sense for them to of gone back to their roots and start from the bottom up, much like how Halo first came around.

There have already been documented admittances from Bungie about how Halo 2 was an incomplete disaster upon launch day, but it's refreshing seeing that this long after the fact, the shit is still trickling down to the fan. I try to give myself solace with the idea that all these H2 mistakes will prevent the same from happening to H3. But then again, the real Bungie Studios were absorbed by Homeland Security or something, so who knows.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Meh, Halo 3 will just be like Halo 2: It's gonna be the same bullshit but with even more added shinyness and probably even more added emphasis on multiplayer and not enough on the weak-ass story for the single-player campaign. All glitz and glamour but no (or barely any) substance.

Meh, who the fuck am I kidding. No one will give a shit about what i say cause they will still buy that mediocre first person shooter game...

That would be a good starting point, it certainly seemed to be a poster child for the "weak-ass story" that's now synonymous with FPS games. The "aliens coming through portals from another dimension" plot was original when it was called Doom.

I want to know why you morons even give a shit about the story in a damn FPS. If you want a story, go play an RPG or read a book. FPS is about blowing shit up. Who cares why I'm blowing it up. Give me an enemy, I don't care if it is an alien, nazi, red, evil demon, or republican. Just say to me "you enemy is ______. Get to it."

Yes but storylines are very important in these games, as they often remind you of what the enemy looks like. "OH MAN, I'D FORGOTTEN". Without them, you might end up trying to shoot rocks and get nowhere!

Just because some people don't value a storyline in an FPS doesn't mean it should be completely discarded. Not all FPSes have bad storylines, and the ones that don't are only made better because of it. Not sure where the hell the whole "fuck the storyline, it's just a shooter" mentality came from, or why people actually accept that as justification for a poor end product, but I completely disagree.

Name one. If you said "first person action game", then you might have a bit better case with games like Breakdown thrown in there. But as far as first person shooters go, I honestly can't think of any released recently (or ever, really) that had a good storyline. At best, they have a convincing or interesting setting, but pretty much none of them have memorable characters or a story that expands much beyond "aliens are plotting to destroy earth, are you a bad enough dude to stop them?"

I'd love to play an FPS that actually put an emphasis on the story, but I have yet to see one.
