Region-free, eh? Nice to hear! However, would that apply only to PS3 games? What about PSone and PS2 games?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Damn, reading all these posts on the various configurations of the PS3 is just painful. It shouldn't have to be this complicated, Sony!

Anyway, according to the PDFs at the SCEI site, neither SKU has PS1/PS2 memory slots.

I'm pretty sure the library of SOny will improve as time passes, but I'm one of those people that will wait for that console to have a more accessible price.
If it were meant to be just a console, then I would agree that the price doesn't make sense. But it's meant to be an all-around entertainment device. Unlike Nintendo's sytem, which is meant to be for games only (excluding the DVD movie add-on), the PS3 plays Blu-ray and DVD movies, regular audio CD and Super Audio CDs. Dedicated Blu-ray players should be aroudn the price of a PS3, and dedicated SACD players can be in the hundreds as well. From that viewpoint, the PS3 is a deal.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Blinded by what, exactly? I don't think you realize how one-sided the market is here for home consoles. It's PS2, and nothing else. You go into a store, and the Xbox and GC get one combined isle. The DS and PSP get their own isle, and the PS2 is the rest of the store. In addition, the Japanese don't seem to really care about innovative gameplay for consoles. The arcades, with games like Sangokushi Taisen or the upcoming Psy-Phi, have plenty of customs cabinets to serve that purpose.

The United States has the largest gaming market, followed by Japan.

It made an impression because it was unknown of what the PS3 controller was going to be. I don't see why they shouldn't be impressed. It would take much adjusting to play many of the games that sell big here on a Wii-like pad.

Sketch's list seems to have come from here: http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/200...53203,0,0.html, the first list on the page. It's not a poll at all; I think it's just a ranking of which piece of news got the most hits on famitsu.com over E3.

It'd be $180 to play Final Fantasy 11 on either the PS2, PC, and assuming it makes it to the system, the PS3 as well. It's a good $70 difference.

It's $50 a year for Xbox Live Gold. You can play FFXI with Xbox Live Silver, which is free.

Damn that's pretty. Though looking at the giant robots in the UT2K7 pictures, I can't help but hope that the PS3 Gundam game(s) look that good.

There are still 8 more playable titles that are secret at this time.
AC4, Gundam, Coded Arms, and Heavenly Sword are the ones I really want to see from that list. The Eye of Judgment seems like an interesting idea, hopefully it'll do for card-based games what Sangokushi Taisen and Gundam 0079 did for them.

I like how there's always a mahjong game at every JPN launch.

Those Motorstorm pics are pretty damn nice. I'd like to see that in action.

As for Ninja Gaiden Sigma... I can't really tell how much better it looks compared to the original. Anyone have any comparison pics?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I really haven't played it much), but don't the cars in Forza Motorsport get damaged?

The following news is for a PS2 game, but it can be played on a PS3 so it's valid. Right?
