Unable to move folder from one drive to external drive

I'm trying to move a 6 GB iso file from one of my laptop's drives to my external hard drive. The laptyop drive has 22 GB of free space and the external drive has 40 Gb free. When I try to move the file, it tells me that I am unable to do so because there is not enough free space and it recommends Disk Cleanup.

I've ran a bunch of disk cleanup and registry cleaners and I've even defragged, but nothing works. Any ideas?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Your external drive may be formatted with a file-system that does not support files as large as 6GB. FAT32 has a 4GB (minus a couple of bytes) maximum file size limitation.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

As you may not wish to reformat your external drive to NTFS, I recommend you add the file to a RAR archive, and split it every 2 gigs or so. You can then safely put these on the external drive.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

He doesn't have to reformat, he could just use the convert utility built into Windows. I've used it on numerous occasions without a hitch. Still, everyone recommends making a backup just in case somethnig goes wrong.
