Router making high pitched noise.

About 2 days ago my router started making this high pitched white noise [ex: a static TV] for no apparent reason. It's a Microsoft MN-500 Wireless Base Station and I've had it for 4 years now with no problems. I unplugged it to let it cool off over night but its still making the noise. Anyone know what this means? Is my router dieing out or can it be something else like radio interference?

It's making me feel a little paranoid, so I turned on the wireless security feature in case my neighbors are trying to leech. The noise seems to be getting louder but that may just be my imagination.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

My DSL modem makes that exact noise, although it started doing it right out of the box. I'd suggest just leaving it alone unless it's actually broken. (or driving you up the wall. :P)

There's nowhere I can't reach.
