Great episode this week, even better than the previous one.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. Nothing wrong with not being strong

People actually HATE Locke? I love that guy.
And sheeeit. Just when Ben was starting to grow on me he has to go and pull that shit. What a jerk. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
How ya doing, buddy? |
Ben is a fucking gangster.
What comes out of his mouth: "No, Jack! I did not know that Locke killed himself!" What's going on in his brain: "HURR HURR HURF HURF DURF DURF HURR" What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I'll agree with the general concensus that this episode was mostly useless (it also explains why they were able to switch last week's episode with this one). The only thing I took from this episode was that the line between good guy and bad is more blurred than ever.
It might just be my lack of judging skills, but Ben murdering Locke threw my perception of who was good/bad off the charts. Widmore helping Locke at the start was also decidedly different than how he's been perceived so far. I'm not complaining, though: Ambiguity was what helped make Lost so compelling and not knowing who to root for is pretty funky. Poor innocent pawn Locke, though. FELIPE NO |
A more interesting episode last night!
Though the added bullshit between Sawyer (which seems to be a defunct name, now... James... Jim...) and Juliet was tedious. Once again, we watched this week, and pretty much called every line before each actor said them. Predictable. But at least we got a little more island this time. A little more history and a little more of what LOST always seems to have been. I liked the whole sonic fence trick, even though you see it coming. I liked the whole "truce" bit between Richard and the Dharma dudes. I like the animosity that is clear between the sides, and I enjoy going to back to familiar territory. It's been too long since we've been able to recognize our surroundings as an audience for more than 10 minutes in any given episode. I'm hoping it continues to re-center on the island. Also, please no more new characters. I am already worried enough about everyone who is STILL stuck somewhere in time! (Bernard, Claire, everyone else). I hope we don't forget about all those people we spent many seasons building character for. ;_; What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, the writers seem to want to milk this Jack/Sawyer/Kate/Julie love square to the very end of the show. It always seems to get to a conclusion and then BAM, back to square one. With every combination of this square explored, the only ones left now are the Kate-Julie/Jack-Sawyer combos. I'll take the former.
Richard was pretty cool tonight although it makes me wonder: why did he "step down" from being the authoritative leader of the Others and let Ben control them for a while? Unless Jacob told him to do so. Jin with fluent English! About time. I'd imagine Daniel Dae Kim sighing, "FINALLY" after years of attempting to speak Korean, and not the other way around. Which new characters are you referring to, Sass? The ones that were talking to Locke? And as for the rest of the camp, I think it's safe to say that they're pretty much gone. Either that, or they're part of the DI as well and weren't given screen time. Overall, the episode was very interesting. Too bad there's a one week break ;__; Most amazing jew boots |
I just wonder where they're going now with these new people. I hope they don't become staples themselves. It always seems too convenient to murder someone after they've become a part of the story. Aggravates me. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well, there's still the whole matter of the rest of the O6. Plus Locke and Ben. The show's looking like it's going to run in two timelines, or something. Unless of course, Cesar and the other crew are in the past as well, but then you'd think that they would've been found by now.
Also, regarding last week: Why did Lapidus run off with some woman [Sun?] and the passenger manifest? I wonder what they're up to. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I haven't watched any of this season so far, but I caught a bit last night. Just wondering, is that constant explanation ticker down at the bottom in every episode now? It was incredibly distracting, and I don't think I could stand to watch new episodes with that every time.

I was speaking idiomatically. |
I agree with Sass about the new characters, the introduction of a new character in the earlier series was a huge deal because they survivors were so isolated. Now it just doesn't have much impact with how the story is playing out. I don't know, I quite miss that feeling they were completely in the dark but now everyone is sort of mingling together...
I did quite like the ending of the episode with the rest of them coming out of the van. The love triangle...well square now I guess is going to be annoying I can see it coming. I just want all the loose ends to tie together from the different narratives (which it is doing now that they're all back on the island again) and see where the writers are going to go with this. So far it's not been a terrible season, and hopefully it keeps getting better. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I still have a question...

Oh oh oh oh I have an idea.

You could be right o_O. How ya doing, buddy? |
Just caught up with Lost :V Watched from Season 1 - Season 5 (present episode). Quite nice =o Although the Sawyer-Juliet thing is ho-hum. Figured he'd end up buddy-buddy with her, but no! IF A GUY AND A GIRL KNOW EACHOTHER THEY MUST LOVE EACHOTHER >8U
I rather like how Widmore and Ben are both weasels. The main characters are basically pawns both sides are putting forth, and it seems neither is really likable (in a good-guy sense. Their characters are awesome). There's nowhere I can't reach.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

This show is getting completely ridiculous.
I now see what Sass meant by being able to predict everything before it happens in the show. I'm talking about the latest episode and Ben in the 70's. That was too obvious, I know, but I'm sort of slow on realizing small detail anyway. Sawyer's beginning to remind me more and more of Locke's delusions of grandeur and epic plans that fail, which makes me dislike him for the first time in the show. He used to be cool. =( And what was that gay speech he gave Jack. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well just because one can predict a lot of the things that will happen, doesn't mean that it isn't high quality entertainment. Season 3-5 of Lost have probably been the best its ever been. Season 1 was highly overrated and Season 2 from what I remember was rubbish.

Yes, the entertainment factor isn't dependant on the predictability. I actually liked this newest episode because of all the completely pointless stuff that is happening.
Lost was at its best on the second season, though, I remember that quite clearly. I was speaking idiomatically. |

I just don't feel into it this season. I assume it's building to something big. The problem is, they aren't doing much building. Shit's just happening. And I'm bored. I feel like I watch the show out of obligation rather than being excited for it like I used to be. FELIPE NO |
Potential spoiler...just in case. Spoiler:

Now, I am sitting down watching a show when I could be doing something else. I'm not enthused like I once was. But I insist on watching it like a dumbfuck because I need to see how they conclude it. Like you guys, it's an obligation. I know I won't be happy with what I see, though. (I would ALSO like to know what happened to everyone else on the goddamned island and it's PISSING ME OFF that they're somewhere suspended in some TIME someplace. The whole time travel thing seems way too convenient for me.) Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I'm on the same boat as you guys. Going to see the shit flung all the way to the end.
It seems like time is just an artificial new dimension to make the series quasi-deep. Ha. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Hey guys if you don't like watching the show anymore, maybe you should wait until it's over and read the plot summary on Wikipedia?!
