[News] Project Needledick - All New 2D Sonic game

Nobody with any sense said "man, Sonic has to go back to his 2D graphical roots to be good again." They wanted his old 2D gameplay, his old sense of speed, his old level designs, his old entourage that numbered one fucking fox.

Sega had the right idea with Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush, then lost most of their small gains in the ensuing sequels. So, no, I am not happy. I am approaching this with enormous skepticism and broad, all-encompassing apathy until I begin to hear the singing of its praises by longtime skeptics.

Or at least by people who did not try to defend Black Knight.

There has been no indication that Sonic Team is still capable of producing a good Sonic game since Adventure.

I see no reason to believe this game will change that.

Also, what ever happened to those fan "HD" remakes of the older genesis games?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Sonic Rush basically a newish 2D Sonic game? Therefore, this isn't really a new thing, although it might be a welcome thing, if they manage not to screw it up.

Yeah, pretty much this. Also the Speedy Gonzales, but he's "offensive" or something. His stage in Loony Tunes GB was awesome, despite the stupid star dance thing.

Actually potentially interested in this. I'm not a super huge fan of the Sonic series, but I really enjoyed the first two games (and 3 and S&K to a lesser extent).

Problem was never with the inclusion of friends anyway. It was with the inclusion of friends that sucked ass. Nothing wrong with Tails or Knuckles. In fact unless memory has betrayed me, I'd go so far as to say that Big the Cat was the only one from Sonic Adventure I thought was horribly tacked on. Oh... and the robot.

It says "Featured," not necessarily who's playable. Could just be Eggman as the other character featured in the game.

I need 2 new keyboards...and a mouse...and a monitor.

Their site has a shitload of countdowns next to the locks, so I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on those. Also, it's announced for Wiiware, XBLA, and PSN, but there's a 4th system that they have yet to announce it for.
