LOL. I'm joining this discussion rather late but after reading the comment, I would conclude that user B seems to misunderstand a lot of things, and the whole rule over at #gamemp3s is indeed odd.

As LiquidAcid had stated, EAC will automatically create .wav files first before encoding to .mp3 format, this, in essence, would break #gamemp3s' rule, right? It would seem that User B is confused about lossless to lossless transcoding - .wav to .flac, therefore, all that User B needs to understand is that .wav and .flac are virtually the same thing, and transcoding from .flac back to .wav, to .mp3 is exactly the same as transcoding from .wav to .mp3.

As for the whole 'it could have been transcoded from a torrent that originally released the music in MP3 format', this obviously wasn't the case since LiquidAcid had already confirmed to have ripped from the CDs directly. User B was probably more confused/opposed to the method of transcoding as LiquidAcid had described it.

I know of another site where they have some strange rules for sharing proper lossless rips, or at least what their perception of "proper" is, and they will reject you if you do not comply, even if what you're sharing is completely legitimate. For example, you have to supply a certain number of CUE sheets or it will not be submittable. True, it's nothing difficult to do but it's a strange rule nonetheless.

Even with hard evidence that can be verified and agreed upon by a majority of people, there will always be those that simply fight it and continue to be stubborn.

Btw, the essay that LiquidAcid submitted, although not being of much use to User B, may in fact educate others that got the chance to read it and had opposing beliefs up until that point, therefore, reducing the number of "idiots", Actually, I prefer to call them "misinformed".

Jam it back in, in the dark.
