Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero III is coming out for the PS2, PS3, Wii, and XB360 sometime later this year.
The graphics look about the same, even with the next-gen versions, but those have never mattered now have they?

I recently found a small track listing over at IGN that should pique your interests until more info comes out on downloadable content, how the Wii version will play, and what other songs will be included:
  • Paint It Black: The Rolling Stones
  • Cherub Rock: Smashing Pumpkins
  • Sabotage: Beastie Boys
  • The Metal: Tenacious D
  • My Name is Jonas: Weezer
  • Knights of Cydonia : Muse
  • Rock And Roll All Nite: Kiss
  • School's Out: Alice Cooper
  • Slow Ride: Fog Hat
  • Cult of Personality: Living Colour
  • Barracuda: Heart
  • Evenflow: Pearl Jam
  • Lay Down: Priestess

Also, get this, "For Guitar Hero III, roughly half of the songs will be master tracks."

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I really wanted to buy this game but I bought a ps3 and didn't wanted to plug my ps2 only for this game so I decided to wait for this ^^

I'm not all into "rock" music but the game seem so much fun to play that I have to try it!. and I have to say that I'm pretty happy with this little track list since I like most of those song (especially paint in black and knight of cydonia)

I can't wait to try this on my ps3 with hopefully a wireless guitar XD

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That's the best part. It has already been confirmed that the guitar gor GHIII WILL be wireless.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I guess I'll be forced to buy this for the PS2.

The track list already looks like a better one than GH1 and 2.

A MUSE track?! A FUCKING MUSE TRACK!?!?! <3~

I'll probably get this for Xbox 360 since I plan on having one later on this year as well. Can't wait until they unveil more tracks.

Haha, Tenacious D AND Muse. Awesome. Knights of Cydonia is good, but I think they should've gone with Stockholm Syndrome. Can't wait to see more tracks. I might get it for 360 if it's not fuckin $90.

Tracklist sounds awesome so far, but I hope they make at least the PS2 version compatible with the GH1/2 controllers, or else I won't spend my money on it.

Those songs look pretty good so far, hopefully the same quality will be around for all the later tracks they're releasing.

Also hoping for less disparity between the tracks I like and don't like in this one. GH1 had a few tracks I didn't like, but unlike GH2 there weren't any I felt were just awful to listen to.

I've been hearing a lot of people say it looks very different from the other two game and weird, but I think it looks just fine...I assume everyone is talking about the HUD display (or whatever it's called)?

I play the first two for PS2 religiously. I would have re-bought it for 360 is they hadn't fucked up the controller so much. The goddam Explorer is smaller than the SG and the fret buttons are closer together.

But this time, 360 controller will be a Les Paul.

Fucking sold.

Cherub Rock is pretty much awesome, FYI. Smashing Pumpkins, hell yeah. Opening track off of what is widely considered their best work, ever.

Guitar Hero is such a cash cow now, labels aren't even hesitating to license their songs out. This is good stuff... but lets just hope they don't add too much butt rock stuff. If a Nickeback song gets on there somehow, someone will be shot.

I suppose Alice Cooper, Foghat and the Stones are a good choice.

But the series would be a hell of a lot better if you could somehow choose your own tracks and the game somehow interpreted the music and gave you fingering patterns to correspond. They may not be the most challenging, but it'd be awesome in groups and it'd sure beat the hell out of wasting your time and energy on music you can't stand.

Working through all those tracks just to unlock a collection of drivel was anti-climactic. One song by Strong Bad didn't make up for 20 tracks that were basically "Generic Nu-Metal Song X" by "Angry, Loud Screaming Guys Nobody Ever Heard Of".

You could always try Frets on Fire, a PC-based clone with a shitload of songs that people have released tracks for. Of course, that game has the same problem that your idea would, in that they'd have a pretty hard time muting the guitar track alone whenever you screwed up. I've always felt that's one of the things that made Guitar Hero so much more interactive than rhythm games like DDR.

Paint It Black and School's Out oh love.

I personally loved the metalfest that was GH2, though - Maybe Guitar Hero AWESOME ROADRUNNER NUCLEAR BLAST SPINEFARM edition will materialise one day. Perhaps there's even a custom PS2 iso of that ilk already floating around.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No. A The End / Century Media metalfest would be better.

Cherub Rock: Smashing Pumpkins - This is the one I'm most excited for, as I'm a HUGE Pumpkins fan. It's known that this one is indeed a master track.
Knights of Cydonia : Muse - Not a fan of this particular track, but I love Muse, so I'm glad to see this on there.
Paint It Black: The Rolling Stones - I love this song. It was just completely haunting at the end of Full Metal Jacket. This one's also a master track!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It better be a good Metllica song... I'm beyond disappointed that Rock Band got Enter Sandman out of all the other great songs that came before Black album.

EDIT:

Quote:
Activision stated in a conference call today that Metallica will be in Guitar Hero 3 : Legends of Rock. The song being Metallica's "One" and of course it's a master track.

"Following the conference call, we followed up with Activision regarding the Metallica news. A representative confirmed not only that Metallica will be in Guitar Hero III, but that the song One will be a master track. One is from Metallica's "...And Justice For All" album released in 1988. It's also the very first song that Metallica produced a rock video for." [Cited from biz.gamedaily.com]
Raining Blood is the best news I've heard regarding GH3. I've been dying to play Slayer for some time now!

Nice..."Rain in Blood" got added as well. I imagine "Angel of Death" would have broken too many guitar controllers.

Hoping for "Ride the Lightning" or "Enter Sandman" for the Metallica slot. Also want to see Megadeth come back for another round. It'd be counterproductive if we gain Metallica and Slayer, but lose Megadeth from GH...Also, I'd like a Motley Crue song that's actually fun to play, instead of boring, old "Shout at the Devil".

Really looking forward to this one. I was sold as soon as they announced "Welcome to the Jungle". Oh and an appearance by Slash doesn't hurt. Not everyday god graces a videogame.

I'm glad that Raining Blood is in there. That song is awesome. Now I demand a full album download of Reign In Blood, Seasons in the Abyss and South of Heaven.

Oh and full album download of Ride the Lightning.
