Japanese Virtual Console prices revealed (for the Nintendo consoles).

non-ImageShack'd image for whatever source.

So roughly, NES games = $5. SNES = $7. N64 = $10.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Those prices seem pretty fair to me. I was hoping for less for NES games, but it's a decent price for SNES and N64 when you get right down to it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

2:34PM: Virtual Console game pricing has now been officially confirmed. Iwata says the price of each game will start at 500 Yen, with SNES games going for 800 Yen, and N64 games costing 1000 Yen.

I dunno. The more I see "$250 Wii confirmed!" on different sites, the more it's not sitting well with me. And there's no remark anywhere as to how many wiimote-nunchukus it's gonna come with and no word on the classic controler. This seems to imply that there probebly won't be a classic controller in the $250 package and only one wiimote-nunchuku. Come on Nintendo, $199.99 isn't that difficult to pull off!

I was speaking idiomatically.

If that's the right dollar amount, I don't think it's too bad at all.

EDIT: Although I forgot I use Canadian dollars......

They previously announced that the Classic Controller wasn't going to be in there... I think. I remember reading that about a week ago.

MSX console support has been added to the Virtual Console?

Quote:
1:34 a.m. EST: [update 6] Iwata gives prices for virtual console games! 500 yen for NES games, 800 yen for SNES games, 1000 [typo corrected] yen for N64 games. Pay by credit card of Wii points card. Wii will play three MSX games.
Live updates of Japanese thingy here. I've always wanted to check out the obscure junk the MSX had. Plus the upgraded Metal Gear ports for laffo.

Infernal, is that Pay by credit card of Wii points card or Pay by credit card or Wii points card?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

1:38 a.m. EST [update 7]: Famitsu reports 30 Nintendo games and 30 PC Engine/Megadrive (Turbo-Grafx/Genesis) games before end of year. Ten new virtual console games every month after that!

NICE. 60 VC games before the end of the year is pretty gnarly. All I want is Dracula X: Rondo of Blood.

Ugh, they still didn't provide enough incentive for emulator-users to actually buy VC games.

5 bucks for an NES game is way too much. It should have been 99 cents or $1.99 per game. Especially because this is essentially free money for Nintendo.

I was speaking idiomatically.

That's a pretty high price for classic games, compilation packs of 10 games usually goes for around $20 in stores. They're really milking them for all they can...

Maybe they'll have a cheaper pricepoint in the states? Those dollar amounts were merely converted from the yen prices that they anounced for Japan only so far right?

Hopefully it's or, since I don't have (nor want) a credit card. A Wii card would be rather nice to have handy.

I can see myself paying $8 for Super Metroid and Secret of Mana on my television screen. Then again, nostalgia is priceless for some.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

This picture of a My Little Pony represents my failure to review the Mix CD that was sent to me. Like this image, I am a shining beacon of shame and disgrace.

2:45PM: Virtual Console will accept purchases via credit card, or via prepaid cards purchased in-stores.

Well, games in Japan *are* generally more expensive than they are here. Japanese PS2 games cost 'bout $70-$75 when new, for example. So... I would have to agree and I don't think we should consider those prices as 'set in stone' yet. Not until tomorrow morning.

How ya doing, buddy?

Yes, but it's pretty doubtful they'll change the price for an online distribution system. Chances are they'll do a pretty direct currency conversion.

Thank God! Now all we've gotta know is if there are several "tiers" of cards or do they simply put the amount that you paid into it. Updating OP.

From Joystiq-

That's roughly $200 in US dollars... December 2nd seems a bit late though. They DID say they would launch before PS3, right?

2:50PM: We just received word that the New York Times article has been pulled from the web. Perhaps our suspicions were right and they were simply guessing the approximate price point.
