If Sony does what I fear it does, it might wait until November to relese the PS3, guarenteeing that anyone who doesn't want to pay more than the MSRP for a PS3 won't get one.

I can't wait to see what kind of stupid bundles they pull.

PlayStation 3
Four boomerang controllers
Three memory sticks
Two wireless hubs
60" DLP HDTV
5 Blu-ray movies
Sony Discman

$19000000000

You do have a point, they centainly could surprise us with a Japanese launch right around E3, but I still wouldn't count on it.

Say this does happen, it'll be like the M$FT release. So far the PS3 has a weak launch title lineup and most of the games aren't anywhere near completion. :eyebrow: It'll be a pretty box to to look at in the living room though.

We haven't seen any new PS3 footage or media for almost a year now, and you talk as if you know what the lineup will be? Come on now.

And the May launch is based on May 23 rollout of Blu-Ray players worldwide.

The titles that are listed as coming soon at either gamespot or ign are your best bet as to what will be released at launch.

And to add to what Elixer just posted, most don't even have names or release dates. No screenshots, videos, interviews or details on what they're about. Aside from the expected EA shovelware and some first party titles, we don't know how strong or weak the launch will be until it's beating the door down.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I happen to think that the launch list is seriously going to kick ass. Specifically due to these games:

* ShadowClan - Tiger Hill Entertainment
* Tekken PS3 - Namco
These are titles which apparently are being released on the PS3's launch date. MGS4 and Devil May Cry 4 are enough to get me going, but I've seen pictures of Sega's Fifth Phantom Saga and it also looks really good.

Those are likely launch titles, since I doubt DMC4 and MGS4's teams and directors would let themselves be constrained by 1 year's worth of development time with new equipment.

I doubt a new Final Fantasy game would be a launch title for the PS3, maybe a year or 2 after the ps3 is released there will be one for it.

Well, looks like the nice folks over on GAF have found out what the name of Insomniac's 8th title is. BTW, this is that WWII/Sci-Fi first person shooter shown at last year's E3 if anyone forgot.

I-8 (never really a name) is actually Resistance: Fall of Man.

This, along with Heavenly Sword and Warhawk were the only games to actually have in-game footage shown at E3. Given their record, this should at least be fun.

Quote:
A new interview with Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer by Hollywood trade magazine Variety has indicated that the PlayStation 3 will be delayed until later in the year, due to complications revolving around the consoles’ complex chipset.

The Variety article attributes the delay to the company “fine-tuning” the console’s technology, referring to the PlayStation 3 as a “the poor man’s Blue-ray [sic]”, and suggests that the console will be released before the end of the year, but does not include a specific comment from Stringer confirming this.

Oh Mega, you make me laugh. You are so quick to forget about a certain X-Box 420 and it's giant power core of house burning +2.

But I kid :P

I want to see the PS3 do just as well as all the other consoles out there. I still have my faith in Sony, and await the best. Sure, it may take some time and it may be pricey, but I think in the end it will be worth the wait.

It's just like the PS2, then. Which means it will sell thousands.

PS2 was a cheap ass dvd player at the time (even if the dvd player was crappy). Because of this lots of people bought it. Set top DVD players were much more expensive. Now the PS3 is a cheap ass Blu-ray player. Guess what's going to happen?
