Is there revenue sharing in the NFL? If there is, it isn't good enough.

The lowly Cardinals are going to be competative this year. I think that's proof enough that it's working just fine.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Tags did lots of good. No lockouts or strikes that affected the game during his era, and the NFL, as Capo mentioned, is the most popular sport in the US today. He wasn't perfect, but he did very well to create a salary cap and balance the playing field for all franchises, unlike MLB.

No surprise with Goodell's pick. He'll probably spend a couple years trying to get out of Tagliabue's shadow but he's young, he has time to cement a legacy.

They're already calling it the "Goodell era". That was quick.

At the very least, he gives hope to plenty of interns ;p

EDIT: In addition to the Fantasy League, would anyone be up for a Pick Em league on Yahoo as well? If there's enough interest, I can set one up.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Sure, I'm down for a pick-em league. If you set one up, I'm sure we'll get at least the 9 currently in the FFL in.

If you read my post again, I never said he did a bad job. He did good things, such as there was no lockout and there is a balance playing field (as BucPride said), but I felt he favoured certain teams, like the 49ers and Broncos. Imagined if the Raiders or Cowboys cheated the cap?

Now I'm not a mean person, but I was happy to see Clinton Portis go down w/a shoulder injury!!

TooBad

If he's out for a significant number of weeks, this could spell the end of the 'skins season.

Either that or Santana Moss is going to have to play a huge role again. I don't even know if it's possible, though, without at least a competant running game.

Well, the latest word is that Portis is done for the pre-season. He might even miss the 1st game of the regular season. This is just further proof that the pre-season is too long.

Well it seem Vanderjaght (or however the fuck his name is spelled) is having a pretty shitty time with the Cowboys. In their Exhibition game against the Vikings, he missed not one but TWO FG attempts that were like no more than 35 yards. One in the last part of the 4th quarter, which made them go into overtime... and then again in OT... both times he could have sealed the victory for Dallas. It ended up being tied 10-10 for the game though. At least he managed to not throw his helmet down this time.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

LOL. The most accurate field goal kicker in the history of the NFL...and he misses the biggest kick of his life last season. Dallas now has the complete heartburn combo in TO and Mike Vanderjact (sp).

lol. TO got a whole whopping 6 yards receiving in that same game. One catch. He dropped a Touchdown pass late in the 4th too. NFL network's replaying the game (again) in which it was supposed to be Tennesse vs fuck I can't remember off hand.

Rams picked up Stephen Davis. But at least Carolina's having a pretty good Pre-season. 4-0

Stephen Davis would have been a nice pickup for the Steelers, considering Duce Staley is a joke nowadays. I'm sure Stephen Davis' abilities have deteriorated, but he has to be better than what we have now. The Rams will do well with him, too, though. Steven Jackson isn't exactly a power back.

Davis seems to be on his way out in the NFL, but will be a nice addition to the Rams for short yardage. I'm suprised no one has mentioned the fact that Jeff George has been signed by the Raiders. You may recall that George hasn't been in the NFL for half a decade and the last time he was playing was with the Redskins...throwing something around 10 interceptions in the first three games.

Yet somehow they feel he can compete at the NFL level. Now I know Al Davis has completely lost his sanity.

The Steelers traded for a RB today so Duce is probably out the door. It sucks because I loved him as an Eagle, but he has nothing left in the tank.

Anyone see the new rules inducted this season? I saw a blurb on NFL Network last night.

Celebrations limited:

Players can no longer use the football nor can other teammates participate. Plus, the field goal or anything to do with the field be used. Celebrations must be solo and can only take up to 30 seconds.

It's probably Steve Smith's fault from last year.

Can't align with the kicker during a field goal attempt. (WTF?)

Play reviews are 60 seconds instead of 90.

I can't remember what other ones there are, but some of them made me really go "??"

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Giants, Carolina and Cincinatti ended the preseason 4-0. Noteables are Oakland with at 4-1 and Dallas at 3-0-1.

I laughed with T.O. catching a single pass for 6 yards. Still, Bledsoe left early, which may be why.

I've never even heard of the guy, though. His name is Cobbs, and he's some rookie RB from the Patriots organization, and he seemed to have a fairly good preseason, but I don't know if he's gonna do the same against first string defenses. He doesn't even seem like a real power back, either, which is what we really needed. We'll see where this goes.

As a Cowboys fan, i think it's hilarious. As long as they perform on the field, sweep the division and get to the playoffs, i'm cool w/it. Bledsoe's on fire so far and w/T.O. coming back, this could be a very good offense!

the misses shouldn't keep anyone away from picking Vanderjagt up late in a FF draft.

Unless, of course, all of that comes to naught against the Cardinals in the first round. Then you'll be right pissed.

Ugh Ben Roethlisberger is on IR for Thursday's game.

So don't be suprised if we get destroyed by the Miami Dolphins of all teams.

I really don't know what else can happen to Ben this off-season. A horrific motorcycle accident, and now an appendectomy. Unbelievable. At least we have Charlie Batch, a semi-competant backup.

How ya doing, buddy?

The Doplhins could be the surprise team in the AFC. (I'm not sure if they'd qualify as a surprise if they ended last season on a winning streak). If Daunte can stay healthy, the offense might put up big numbers. Their defense is always consistent. it's not a top tier d, but it's far from poor.
