The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust
The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust is the newest album from Saul Williams, produced with Trent Reznor and released directly to the internets.
You can pay five bucks for a higher quality version of the album or download it for free at a 192Kbps version. All versions come with artwork and lyrics. Proof of how Saul Williams is awesome:
There's pretty much no reason for you not to download this album. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Yep, this album is pretty damn awesome. It gets my approval. I downloaded it on release day.
Btw, his first album is awesome, and relatively overlooked. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I've heard his name in connection with The Mars Volta, but I never checked into him any further. I guess now's as good a time as any. At the very least I like the album title. =D

He's toured with The Mars Volta before.. and even jammed with them a bit. I have a live recording of Eriatarka where Saul Williams improvises.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I downloaded this a few days ago, but I've yet to listen to it. Thanks for sparking my interest again.

I really like the Sunday, Bloody Sunday cover. Skin of a Drum and The Ritual are pretty great too.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The only thing I don't like about this is the guilt trip he throws on you when you click the free link. Aside from that, it's all good. Great album, and thanks for the link, Brady. I'd been meaning to download this since I read the interview with Saul and Trent Reznor, but I never got around to it. Glad to finally have done it.
FELIPE NO |
Sounds like Trent Reznor style music (which is nearly always a good thing) with someone else doing the lyrics. I'm sold. I'll let you all know my highly valued opinion about the product later on.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? These are the Books of Harrow They are our doom and our salvation Learn from them, or we will all perish |
I'm impressed. This is like two NIN albums in a year. Okay, not really but still...
What really gets me, is that at least to my ear he sometimes sounds very much like Trent (or is Mr. Reznor actually doing vocals alongside with Mr. Williams?). Interestingly this album is pretty close to the overall sound and "noisiness" of Year Zero, if not even beyond. It's not as easy going and straight as you'd expect a rap album to be, but then it's also NOT as "easy" as a regular NIN thing. Rather complex an album... Jam it back in, in the dark.
