Right now it's Japanese and French, just been holding the plans for a while now (timetable clashes). There are many other interesting languages out there, like Italian, German...maybe even Korean.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think I've got English down, and I can get by in Spanish.

Currently, I'm trying to teach myself Gaelic, a task that would be a lot easier if I weren't, you know, lazy.

On and off for the past year, I've been attempting to learn Japanese, just cause it's a cool language, and I think it'd be awesome to write with kanji and not have a lot of people know what I'm doing.

I haven't worked on it for a while though, so I should make a point of getting back at it, cause I have a lot of work ahead of me.

How ya doing, buddy?

Who said anything about teaching you that language? Anyway, you're right, we'd better carry this convo elsewhere.

I can speak English (of course =P) and i speak 3 different Chinese languages (Cantonese, Shanghainese and Mandarin).
I did a year of Jap...(can't remember much though)
I'm doing German at the moment but not very well, get mix up with all the grammars.
I also just finish a basic course of Sign Language (if that counts as a language)
I'd love to learn Latin, Spanish and Russian.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm white and speak semi-fluent Spanish, but I'd like to really fuly learn the language, as well as Maya and Italian.

I'd also like to learn Lakota-Sioux Native, but since I am only a descendent of that I'd be hard pressed to find any left.

According to my friend, learning Hebrew is as easy as learning Afrikaans, which is apparently easier than learning English. For me, it's Korean. East Asia in general has fascinated me for a long time. From all the stories and pictures, Korea is a more hectic Japan. That's not to say it's just minijap or anything, as their culture and language is very destinct.

I just think it would be incredible to walk down these streets, and go on these trains~

I'm currently double-majoring in Japanese as well. Going to study abroad in Japan this summer in Iida, Nagano prefecture (1998 Winter Olympic site).
French would be another language that I'd love to learn. I took two years of French when I was in high school and loved the language because it's so beautiful. Maybe in the near future when I have a chance~ ^^

If anyone is interested in studying abroad in Japan this summer, check out the website www.asianinterstage.com/summer2006japan
9 credit hours for 9 weeks; and if you don't have previous Japanese learning experience, you'll get 12 credit hours for 9 weeks.

French is nice, I spent 4 years learning it. I'm interested in languages and wish I had more time to commit to them; my college doesn't have any foreign language courses unfortunately. Moth, Gaelic would be sweet to learn. Difficult but awesome...seeing as how I have strong Irish roots.

I've also taught myself some very basic Polish, for comparison, it's like Russian, however, the most beautiful Language i've heard is Italian, and someday to be able to speak that would be great, but aside from the oh-so-common romance languages:

I've considered learning Hindi. I've never met a person of Indian descent that I did not enjoy the company of, and a friend once described to me Hindi as a very good conversational language. I'd like to give that a try someday. Swahili as well I've heard flow's nicely, though I don't know if it can match Italian.

I'd better get on this; only one lifetime to learn it all...lol or maybe i'm overly ambitious at this late hour.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, I'm somewhat fluent in Japanese now (after many years of study and spending time in Japan), but there is still more to learn. Perhaps, down the line, I might attempt to study Mandarin or Korean (easy writing system).

It was quite rewarding studying Japanese and I've learned quite a bit about the process of studying a foreign language. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

What our professor told us was: It's better to prepare around $6000, because you have to add the airfare and personal expense (like whatever you're going to buy). But thinking about $6000 for 9-12 hour credits, plus get to travel different cities and stay in host family, that isn't really too much.
