Sonic vs Mario featuring Teletubbies!
Hahaha, if only they are actually Teletubbies and not the mascots of this series of Olympic Games. This would turn into the most WTF set of crossovers ever.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

For whatever reason, Sega released the Australian box art first. Replace the green rating with your rating of choice and that'll be the Euro and US box!

There's also a new preview explaining how some of the games work.

Quote:
The 100-metre dash is clearly indebted to the button misery of Konami's finger-ruiner. Replace A/B button-beating with remote/nunchuk pedalling and you're just about there. Flail fast and sparks burst from your feet (in-game). This is understandable if you're playing as speed freak Sonic, but slightly confusing when emerging on Bowser's podiatrist-upsetting heels. And in a nod to age-old Ninty racing mechanics there's even a boost. In a dazzling feat of innovation you activate it on the starting line with a correctly timed press of B. Our jaws literally shrugged.
YOU GOT BOOST POWER.

I was speaking idiomatically.

What I don't like about it, is the graphics, I mean, Smash already showed us how cool can Bowser/Mario/Peach look, yet every game besides Smash keeps the simple plain graphics. (Well this one adding the "metal look" as Krelian said)

This is basically a glorified Wii Sports, so I don't see much to get excited about other than the first meeting of two big franchises.

On the other hand, I hear it's coming out thanksgiving, beating out Brawl, so Sonic showing his face there won't nullify this game's claims of Sonic and Mario's first meeting.

Sega likes making everything look like its metal. They always did it with sonic and now mario and crew get the same treatment. They suck. =(

For some reason I was under the impression this was coming to all platforms (near enough) rather than just the Wii and DS. Not sure where I got idea. Bit of a shame as I had great fun with Track & Field on XBLA and would certainly be interested to take a look at something like this which updates the idea.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

So basically this game should just be taken as an updated version of Track & Field.

Amazing how they still barely use the wiimote other than "WIGGLE IT AROUND AIMLESSLY TO DO SHIT". Oh it's almost like TAPPING BUTTONS furiously!!! Is this unique and groundbreaking gameplay or what?!!?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Considering there's already going to be an updated version of Track & Field, that makes this games even more pointless.

This game loses for not featuring a dual-Uzi wielding Sonic.

It should also be renamed to "Wii Random Minigame Collection #34" to avoid confusion.

So uh, Mario And Sonic was playable at Leipzig this past weekend. From video impressions I've seen thus far it seems pretty simple and will be extremely family friendly. And if that didn't BLOW your mind, I saw PEACH beat Sonic in the hurdles. If that ain't wrong, I don't know what is.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
My, what a big sig you have...
Old Aug 27, 2007, 06:02 PM #67 of 74
Doesn't suprise me. Peach's air game is far superior to Sonic's. However if it were Tails she was against and won on hurdles, well, well then fuck I don't know what to believe anymore.

Got my copy today and I will say it's at least worth a rent. It seems more like a multiplayer game than a single player. I can't get the 100 meter dash down but everything (that was already unlocked) can be quick to catch on.

Also, the characters aren't shiny. Sonic has his Sonic Adventure 2 look which is a plus.

I was expecting this game just to be a good multiplayer game, but I dunno whether or not I should blow $50 on it... I'm pretty sure that someone will hate their game soon, giving me the opportunity to go and buy it used.

But I just worry the idea of it all will dry up pretty quickly. And I'll probably be getting Super Mario Galaxy before this anyway. <_<

There's a section in the game called Gallery that gives you history info about the Olympics after you complete a book in a minigame. There's 5 books (5 challenges) for each minigame. If you complete the challenges, you can listen to new music in the Gallery. The first ones to be unlocked were the Overworld BGM from the original Super Mario Bros. and Green Hill Zone from the first Sonic game. It even fades out and then restarts the track. I just thought that was kinda neat.

Oh, and the music now plays while you're playing the minigames too.

Does that include Soap Shoes? It was the only damn improvement they ever made on his design, and they had to revert it to his status quo shoes after the game. I know it was a promotional one-shot, but honestly, his normal shoes look like something a clown is wearing.

Picked this up the other day as I wait for Subpar Mazza Galaxy of prawns next week. I'm liking it a lot, I've always had a raging hardon for olympic style mash mash mash mindlessly until the bones in your fingers turn into paste games though. They've translated that pretty well to motion controls, my arms are killing me. Constantly having to pull knives out of my chest that they sneak in.

There are a few turds, like rowing. Seems like the instant you slightly get out of rhythm you can never hope to recover, then you're stuck listening to your character repeat the same line again and again and again as they slowly row gently down the stream. Javelin's far too complex for such a thing, and the less said about _____ ______, the better. There's a shit load of content packed into the game which is pretty awesome-o-tastic and the graphics seem fairly impressive, GRASS BLOWS IN THE WIND AND CLOUDS CAST SHADOWS whoa 1999. The characters don't appear to have that weird shiny metal glow to them either. The Dream Events are great too. Like sky diving and running around while trying to avoid Robotni-Eggman's robots. Pity they're the robots from Sonic Heroes. 0/10.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So this game isn't completely useless even though Sonic's in Brawl?
