IRC all the way. If you know where to go you can get just about anything you need.

I never quite got into fileservers on IRC. Could you recommend a guide that isn't mIRC oriented?

How ya doing, buddy?

Yes, but I don't know what servers/channels offer files. Same goes for DC++. I need a good hub list.

DC++ is a lame p2p program. If you dont share alot of files, you cant enter a room/hub.

Just stick with emule folks and of course B.T.

You could visit pretty much every channel on Efnet I'd say.

My point was that IRC is not meant for file exchange, it just has the possibility of setting up a DCC server from which people can access your files, and mirc will advertise the trigger to that server in the channel you set it up to. Which is about as much P2P as the people in our My Stuff forum who set up their own FTP server and then drop the link in that forum. Except that most IRC clients have some kind of DCC server function built-in. It's a one-way file transfer, not true peer to peer file exchange.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well I suppose this isn't officially a P2P service, but for all my download needs I use binary newsgroups from giganews.com and a program called Thoth. Sure, you have to pay a bit, but it's definitely worth it.

torrents, IRC, and newsgroups.

Yeah you'll have to pay for the newsgroup access, but the speed and plethora of information is more than worth it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, you'll have to pay for good newsgroup access. For example, my ISP provides newsgroup access, but it's often incomplete or slow.

I used to do this, for about a week, until I got fed up with one day retention of 1,000,000 half loaded files.

I like how people are continuing to confuse P2P clients with networks despite the warning issued in the first post.

For BT I use azearus (sp?). It's a RAM hog, but I can live with that.
Use microtorrent .... its got pretty much everything azureus does and uses only like 6mb's memory max. Anyone who uses it doesn't go back.

I pretty much exclusively use IRC for music, since it is easier to get older stuff there. Plus, it is still the safest way to download music, not that it seems like the RIAA is going after anyone anymore. It takes just a little bit more work.
This is more proof of how bad the riaa's campain against filesharers is... people don't even realize they're still suing people, because its not even news anymore when they do. However, the riaa recently (as in this month) sued 750 more people and they've been doing it continually since they started.

Oh yeah and to answer the thread

1. Bitorrent (utorrent)

2. BCDC++ and revconnect... whatever one i feel like

3. Mirc

4. Emule

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
