It's Not Just for the Nazis Anymore
European Parliament to ban Eurosceptic groups - Telegraph
Spoiler:
It'll be hard not to apply the slippery slope. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I was like
"oh, this looks pretty serious, let's have a discussion" and then I saw Nehmi and so I figured "no, it turns out this is tinfoil hats on moonbats after all" This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
No, Political Palace is my dog, pa, I'll do it...
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
As more time goes by the European Union looks like another failed attempt at a Holy Roman Empire. It'll end when the marriage of convenience between German economic power and French political power breaks down.
They still love each other. They just want to live separate.
Hahaha! How ya doing, buddy? |
Your witty statement of the European Union being more akin to the Soviet Union than the United States based on its member states avoiding popular votes on a new constitution would be far wittier if the United States Constitution and its subsequent amendments had been ratified by way of a popular vote.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
There wasn't such a casual disregard for the popular will or the concerns of the minority political parties. Much less a disturbing unwillingness to compromise in the formation of the US Constitution; since a lot of our amendments (bill of rights) were demands made by individual states, or in the expansion of the Union. The last time a country/territory tried to become a state of the American Union it was rejected by a popular referendum in Puerto Rico.
The Soviet Union comparison is more then adequate in that regard. I don't think legal technicalities have anything to do with it. Spoiler:
How ya doing, buddy? |
Well there's no EU directive to say member states aren't allowed to vote on it. It's just that our wise and benevolent government who have taken it upon themselves in recent years to do what they think's best for us, rather than what the majority of the country actually want, have decided that as the word "Constitution" was dropped from the treaty's title, they don't have to give us a referendum on whether to sign up or not.
Essentially, the New Labour lot all realise their time is about up and are eyeing cushy Euro-parliament jobs so are kowtowing to Brussels more than ever before. We're seriously long overdue a revolution in this country. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
