Final Fantasy XII Limited Edition OST now available for preorder.

Since there was no thread about upcoming releases (maybe we should make one?), I figured I'd post this news tidbit.

It seems that Cocoe is taking preorders for the LE disc as of today.

At a measly 36 US bucks, it's a heck of a good price. (I expected at least 10 bucks more than that). I preordered mine about 10 minutes ago, along with ordering a copy of the VP reprint. Hopefully this soundtrack lives up to some of Sakimoto's older works. =D

Now with that out of the way I guess we can use this thread for discussion of this OST or something. Up to you guys. =ooo

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the look of this set? It looks a bit too much like a DVD box set for my tastes. After the beautiful FFXI box I had expected something prettier.

Here is a larger version of that image by the way.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well DigiCube made some great limited editions at this time. I miss them... I still like the pack though!

Yeah, it looks indeed like some "DVD-Special Extended Collectors Edition"-Set, but overall, I have no problems with it. It's maybe a bit simple, but it looks not bad.

I'm gonna wait for this to pop up on Amazon JP before I order it. I love Cocoebiz but this is an album I NEED to have on the day of release, so I'll opt for the faster shipping. As far as the packaging is concerned... I could careless. It looks fine to me. Since when did we get hung up on outside appearances heh? It's all about the music for me.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

That's cheaper than I expected. I've never ordered from them before so how reliable are they? Also any idea on the shipping costs?

I don't know if I'm "hung up" on it. It's not like it would make me not buy it or anything. Apperance certainly matters though. Would you not rather look at something pretty than somethng ugly?

Well first, let me say that I wasn't singling you out or anything. This topic came up over at STC as well and people were saying that the packaging and DVD-case setup wasn't appealing. Of course I'd rather look at something pretty but I don't need a whole of lot extras and bells and whistles in the packaging to make a purchase that much more satisfying. This set isn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination. If this set looked similar to the FFXI LE... but the music sucked, would you be ok with that? I don't think so. :P That's all I was saying.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It depends. The FFXI packaging makes for a real work of art in it's own. Perhaps I should hang it up on a wall or frame it or something =D

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

haha, I feel you man. I get where you're coming from. The packaging and such in that LE was damn good. Possibly the best I've ever seen. But I don't mind the DVD set in this set though. I bought the Grandia III OST and it came in a DVD case as well. I just can't wait to see what Sakimoto has in store for his first foray into the main FF series.

I have no idea about shipping costs to where you live, but the fastest shipping to Canada was about 1200 yen or so.

And you can trust the website. Never had a problem with 'em in the past, and they ship faster than otaku seems to.

Well I'm in Michigan so I gather it'd be around the same price so that puts it at around $10? Not bad.

That price is a steal. However, I want to wait and hear the music before I toss my money in the wind. After all, the game will be out in Japan a month before the OST is released. Sakimoto has never done a soundtrack of this size before, and I don't want to buy this soundtrack only to find out that 75% is boring filler.

how is this price a steal ?? I dunno if the music is good or not. I'm gonna wait too. When I first saw the set, I was about to click on BUY NOW BITCH but didn't. Me wants samples first.

I'm positively amazed at the cheapness of the OST. I took one look at the picture and went, "Oh, man, that's gotta be expensive." I wonder why it's such a bargain?

Since it's so cheap and all, I guess I'm going to buy it just because it looks so nice.

Well if it's samples you want, you should buy Dragon Quest VIII or otherwise find the FFXII demo disc and hear the stuff he did for it. There's not many songs available on it, but at least one (Phon Coast) is worth hearing and enough to get you excited.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If samples are needed then I can go ahead and post a YSI of Tappy's rip of the demo as well as the gamemp3 release of "Symphonic Poem: Hope"?

I have one last question about Cocoe but is it true they deduct payment as soon as the preorder is made or do they actually take payment when the item is in stock and shipped per the norm?

Indeed, but the track that really did it for me was the "Summon(ing)" track, which is definitely my favorite Sakimoto piece from FFXII so far!

Everything I've heard so far is excellent stuff, there's nothing that was boring or sounded like "filler" music....so I definitely made sure I preordered it just now! ^_^

Is it just me or does the new instrument library make all the songs sound the same? I watched that new 10-minute movie from the Famitsu DVD and it just seemed like the same track was playing all the time, using these intensely annoying synth brasses.

Just looking at the photo makes this such an impulse buy for me since I like preordering "limited edition" stuff like this. I'll settle though, like some of you, and wait to hear if it is indeed worth it or not. It does look nice... eh, maybe I'm still thinking about it.

That's interesting how the soundtrack only costs that much. I also expected it to be expensive, but that's affordable considering what's included.

few days after you preorder. So preordering 2 months in advance..

anyway I never got any problem with her. my first purchase was F-Zero GX/AX. and I often order hard-to-find albums from there.
