Long list of problems....

Just a few seconds ago, my computer hanged. I was listioning to the radio when it started to sound like a broken record. I tried to move my mouse nothing happend. So I ended up hitting it and then it came back. That was the first time that it happened. This is a fairly new computer, we got it back in Aug. So it shouldn't be doing this....

Then there is the fact that this:

Keeps popping up from time to time and I have no clue to what it could be. But I do end up getting an extra font when it pops up called Sydnie or something....and the only way to get rid of it is to shut the computer down.

Sometimes the speekers cut out, but that could be the sound card.....how do I get this to stop?

With all these problems I tried to back up my files just incase. But everytime I try to open the disc, my computer hangs. However the two other back ups not done by me work. Why is it that the one I made doesn't?

Sorry for the long list....I really just want to know what's going on with this thing....like I said....it's not even a year old and it keeps giving me new problems everyday....So if anyone has any ideas as to why it is, then please tell me because this is starting to go out of my range of computer knowlage. When this stuff started happening I knew what to do, but it's starting to get worse now....

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Do you have seperate logons for each person who uses the PC? If so, were the backups made by someone else done with them signed in? Do these problems occur when someone other than you is signed in?

Also, how's your antivirus definitions? Current? Have you run any antispyware software, such as Spybot Search & Destroy? You're having software issues, not hardware issues, so the amount of time that you've had the computer is very much irrelevant.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hitting your pc is the dumbest thing you can possibly do, because it can only cause more problems.

Make sure the sound-card (and other things) are steady in their slot.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The backups were made on the main login....not to mention the only login I have on this computer. So....it shouldn't be happening.

The definition's are up to date and the last scans I did were on Monday. I use Spysweeper and adaware for the spyware antispyware software...I try to stay away from Spybot. As for the virus scan, I use Norton Internet sucurity.

If I didn't, it would have been stuck like that for a while. I should know I had a Dell that did the same thing....I let it go thinking it just froze....and it stayed stuck like that for 20 minutes -_-; ....

I don't believe hitting the PC will help you with it, really - unless your hard drive hangs, but then it's time to get a new one anyway. Or perhaps - as I said - the card wasn't seated properly and got straightened by your hit, although that's highly unlikely.

I was speaking idiomatically.

About a year and a half ago, my laptop started hanging, and the only thing that would fix it was hitting it right above the hard drive.

The HD failed a few days later. Lost a decent chunk of my data (mostly music and personal files) because I wasn't backing up particularly much at all back then.

Haha...I used to hit my old Pentium 66 to get the fan going in the PSU. I'd know something was wrong if all was quiet as you could start smelling burnt electronics :|

Think if I tried that now on the current gen stuff, I have no doubt that something would go wrong. There was definetly a higher margin of error back then.

If you look through the task manager (right click the task bar, choose Task Manager) and look through the applications tab, you can kill the goofy tab, but look around and maybe you'll find something that looks odd to fix.

If your computer is still under warrantly, I recommend you get it to the manufacturer and get it fixed.

Sir VG: the window doesn't show up in the task manager...that's the strange part. I also gain a font called Sydne, like I said.

Zergrinch: It's under warranty....but it was through Best Buy, and the computer was bought in Ohio and we're now in Washington...I don't know if the best buy here would take it. Not to mention that I would like to back my stuff up before I send it anywhere....which I can't, due to the fact that it crashes ever time I try ....

There's nowhere I can't reach.
