If you're a professional, talented musician and you have access to half-decent production, then why fuck everything up in the interests of "TRUE NORDIC GRIMNESS"?
Man an awful lot of the older albums were done with a very, very small budget though, at that time I don't think "necro yadda yadda" was even taken into account, they just wanted to record music. But doing like, really crap recording in this day and age is kind of pointless. Myself I don't mind either, to be honest I prefer when a sound has a bit of character to it, but not horrible distortion or the like of that.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ah yeah as in "so necro we use a 4-track though we have the funds to record in a kickass studio, couldn't agree more! Having said that, on one (actually probably all!) of the Burzum albums the 2 bass drums are completely out of tune, good album but that drives me insane, I mean, poor production is one thing, but for fucks sake match the pitches of the bass drums, it sounds like a fucking train or something.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
