Anyone would, so no one should feel bad about that.

Dark Tranquillity is a good band. I saw them live last summer and their show rocked. Recommended if they tour around where you live. Their albums are more of a mix though. They're all good albums with a few great tracks, but their problem is flatness. No contrasts anywhere.

And I thought Iwata liked music for what it was, and not for what it was forcifully genred into. Disappointing really.

Bands like Opeth, Green Carnation, Tenhi, Elend, Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend and many other bring the whole contradicting into the picture and make it a steady part of the bigger picture. Metal can now be completely acoustic. And that's weird enough for me to make me appreciate it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

All right guys. Strapping Young Lad's new album, The New Black, with its foreboding name is coming out July 11th.

I've listened to the promo version a couple of times through, and am telling you to wait anxiously for it. From what I can hear, SYL has made quite a turn into a whole unpredictable direction. And then again not. Devin Townsend made it his job to completely diss the horrible bands (that give the word 'metal' a bad rep) like Children of Bodom and such through this one. Not to mention the obvious "nod" to Metallica with the album's name.

So buying this when it comes out. <3

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

It's just Townsend. He thinks CoB is a band that tries to be more hardcore than it really is. A poser band, in other words.

I myself don't really hate the band, but have great disinterest towards them.

I was speaking idiomatically.

If you, whoever, is interested in fresh sounding melodic death metal (not that stale In Flames and co. crap), check out Insomnium's newest album Above the Weeping World.

Brilliantly deep stuff and a typically Finnish melancholic earthy mood.

They will play one of the two songs from Hävitetty and 4-5 songs from previous albums on the tour of this album.

More to the point isn't "love metal" a bit of a oxymoron?
Look up the term 'oxymoron'.

PS. the answer is 'no'.

Has anyone given a spin to the new Swallow the Sun album Hope? I bought it at the album release gig yesterday and it rolls like the delicious doom ('n death) machine it is.

I especially like, well, every track.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Seriously fuck Tarja.
QFTFT.

Suddenly Holopainen has learned to compose stuff for a full orchestra. Magicks, I say!

I've been shooting up on some Schattengang, Sombres Forêts and Wyrd recently (black metally stuff). And the new King Diamond is surprisingly good, so good that I might actually buy it at some point. Will be getting into KD's earlier work more after this.

Oh, and Systematic Chaos sucks incan balls.

How ya doing, buddy?

Moonsorrow live ! I'll eventually have to travel to see them one of these days, as it doesnt seem they'll ever be playing in France.
I could use my msn messenger and recommend a French concert to Sorvali. |D But I think he's too busy playing WoW, as is the rest of the band.

Krelian, you're actually going to a... Children of something-or-another concert? ._.

I think I already have a strong candidate for album of the year 2008.
Yes, it truly is a strong candidate. And Opeth (just today, actually) started their studio recordings for the coming album planned to be released in April or May.

And there's also Nevermore.

Three awesomenesses to wait for. <3

About Metallica, it was kind of funny. When Megadeth's new album was released this year, it reached about the 30th or so place in the Finnish charts. But on the very same list week, all of Metallica's albums (I mean, all _ten_ of them) were above it, because the shops just started selling them in midprice again. The midprice mania lasted about a month, the albums are full-priced again.

It's very, very odd here.

I'll be having a nice gig-filled new year from the December 29th to 31th: Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Turisas, Swallow the Sun, Mokoma, Von Hertzen Brothers, The Black League, Mannhai, Ensiferum, Kings of Fools and Snipe Drive, with the bolded ones being all levels of awesome. \=O~/

It's progressive, hard, yet melodic as well.
But also bad. =/

I've always liked their drummer, though. A lively, organic player dude he is.

(And I'd still say they're more rock than metal.)

There's nowhere I can't reach.

And behold, you shall wait some more.

It's never coming out. They have like one song written and they've been playing it in concerts recently.

If everyone hasn't checked out Barren Earth, please do so at the earliest.

Shameless Finnish metal promotion. Barren Earth vaguely resembles Amorphis, if that expedites getting you to listen to it.

YUP.

Like, current lineup? What are we talkin' here
Yeah, more the style of the newer albums. It's not as shawarma as Amorphis's melodies, but still progressive in a folky kind of way.
