Ence and Tails.

Remember that "guess which members sent what song" event? What was it . . . the GFF Community Album Project?

I think I recall that the two of you had expressed favorable interest in the band Happy End based on the song I submitted.

I've uploaded them onto the MEC thread.

I uploaded the Moxy Früvous debut album to the thread.

Get it.

I'll upload more if y'all like them.

HAHA! Yes! That Fleet Foxes joint is indeed a great album. I think Amara posted it right around the time he banned himself from earth forever but it's nice to see it uploaded again.

You shouldn't, it's one of the best albums picthfork has posted in while. But while I'm at it the Beach House and Vampire Weekend albums are good too.

Sorry it took so long, I downloaded a while ago but just got around to listening. I'm really digging Emancipator. And for a genre that misses a lot more than it hits, that's something.

Now I gotta check out all the new hip-hop. I'm excited.

I'm currently uploading Project 86's Truthless Heroes. For those of you who enjoyed the other P86 upload I did (and for those of you who just enjoy well-done spoken word/hardcore), this is a fantastic album.

While I'm not a big fan of Alexisonfire in general, I might be willing to download this last album of theirs. I wasn't too impressed with their first album and we saw them at Warped back in 2004 to the same lukewarm feeling from me. City & Colour, on the other hand, THAT is an awesome upload and I recommend everyone to grab it and listen to it.

I hate to say it, but everything in this last upload gets filed with Arcade Fire in the "Overplayed to Hell" folder for people who live in Canada. This stuff has been playing in the same rotations as Rihanna and Fall Out Boy for about four years now up here. :/

Thanks for uploading this!

I remember wanting to listen to it a looong time ago because of how the album is loosely based on Huxley's Brave New World, and I like when music bases itself on some form of literature. But I also remember being scared off by the whole "Christian Rock" label and the fact that a friend of mine had foisted a lot of that sort of thing on me in high school -- and I didn't particularly care for most of it.

However, I am more than willing to check it out for free .

Oh, they're Christians, but the album is kinda more along the lines of social and political commentary. Oh, and I still haven't heard anything QUITE like it in any musical circle. They've termed themselves (or people have termed them) post-hardcore, and, considering the implications of the "post" prefix in rock, it seems apt enough. I mean, dude doesn't really rap or just scream the lyrics like so much hardcore tends to have. That's why I've termed them spoken word/hardcore. Fits better.

I listened to a discography of them, and I didn't like the first album either. The second was pretty good, but this one is definitely my favorite. I'd say give it a chance if you like the back and forth of growling and soft vocals.

I hate to say it, but everything in this last upload gets filed with Arcade Fire in the "Overplayed to Hell" folder for people who live in Canada. This stuff has been playing in the same rotations as Rihanna and Fall Out Boy for about four years now up here. :/
Yeah, I figured this would be old hat to the Canucks, but I really haven't seen much exposure for them locally, or heard any of my friends online or off talk about them. I can understand why you might shrug at the thought of listening to them again, though.

If there's no objections, I'll probably follow up with City & Colour's second album, which I consider to be a lot better than the first. (Which was already pretty good.)

I have a request. If you guys remember way back, my very first post in the oldest M.E.C. thread was an album called "Parrots On Fire (And Other Signs Of Hope)" by a band called the Algy Krebbs Quartet. I realize that I upped this a looooooooong time ago, and that no one may have a copy, but if anyone actually DOES have this floating around, an upload would be hugely appreciated, as I can't seem to find mine anymore.

I just posted something new in the MEC, after a long time since my last contribution.

Probably not for those who have some sort of aversion towards emo-y acoustic music, but I think it's definitely worth a download. I don't regret spending money on the CD, that's for sure.

It feels like it was written and recorded in the late 70s, it's pretty amazing.

Oh, all of her albums are great. The earlier two have much more of a stricter country sound, although I'd never just come out and call her country.

Still. Her vocals are absolutely wonderful.
