Meikai Hen = Hades Inferno arc, right?

I only watched the first two OVAs (what's taking Spectre so long?), and boy was I disappointed with them. I had high hopes after watching the Hades Sanctuary arc, which featured stunning graphics and choreography (remember the camera following Seiya's Ryu Sei Ken? Awesome). All the old voice actors returned, which brought good memories for oldtimers like me. All in all, that was so brilliant that Inferno didn't need to one-up Sanctuary. if Inferno had retained the same production level, I would have been a happy camper.

Except it didn't.

What's with Inferno's horrible graphics? Everyone looks deformed, as in 80's Seiya style deformed. We're in 2006, right? The environments look so bland, any amateur CG designer could have done a better job. The pacing sucks because the storyline is so crunched up. Why did they have to do it in six episodes this time around (which, if I read correctly, the team had to completely omit certain defining moments at the end)? Where is the original cast of voice actors? And why does the BGM sound like horsebleep in a vaccuum?

I am SO DISAPPOINTED with the first two OVAs, I have no urge to finish watching the remaining four.

My $0.02.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

well, i read somewhere that Toei wanted new voice actor for andromeda but, the orignal cast wanted to work together, so they all quit for that.
the reason that they changed the voice actor was that they dont sound young anymore(there are almost 20 years since it first aired) it have some sense to me, but it would be nice to have the original cast.
now for the backgrounds, you are right, they look pretty bland and somehow repetitive, but way more colorful than ever.
i was disappointed that there where no CG in the attack, like the ryuseiken or the galatic explotion in the santuary part, that was awesome.
and i share your feeling for releasing only 6 ovas, with 2 more at least the passing would be much better.
lets hope they correct this for the next releases

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Visual effects for the attacks were lame. Phlegias's Howling Inferno looked retarded, Aiacos's Galactic Illusion looked chopped, and there were 80% less planets in Kanon's Galaxian Explosion.

Amateurish.

Well, it's still better than the Heaven chapter movie from a while back. Now that was crappy! I've also only seen the first 2 OVAs for Inferno and yes, I agree that they certainly were missing much of what made the Sanctuary arc so goddamn cool.

A complete change of cast was a major blow. The animation was sorely lacking (OMG, did you see them running?! Like freakin' puppets on strings!!! The last shot of Saori was weird too, like there wasn't much consistency in the character designs.)

Please tell me the other 4 are even a little bit better........please?

Saw them but wasn't interested. After the 12 Gold Saints, I just want a Athena Saori figure and then I'll be content. I might be interested in the 5 Kami Cloths too....

Awright, WTF? Is no one gonna do the english subs for episodes 3 - 6?! Then again, does this chapter suck so bad that no one thinks it's worth it?

Still waiting too, but there's no rush for me. I'd rather have a good quality sub than something rushed. Spectre Anime is going to do the rest eventually:

Still, if you can't wait, I'd suggest finding some Raws and adding the subtitles yourself. You can find subtitles for all of Saint Seiya here at Seiya Subtitles

For those who still care, Spectre Anime released episodes 3 & 4 about a week ago.

I didn't have a chance to watch them yet, 'cause of computer problems, but from the small scenes I've watched the subs look good. Can't say the same about the episodes though (Shiryu's VA doesn't sound good at all )

OMG, what crappy episodes we have here......

The subs don't matter because your eyes are too busy bleeding to be able read them (ha ha ha, please don't take me literally....it's not as serious as that.....). But the pacing sucks eggs, and the fights are totally crap:
Spoiler:
....Seiya and Shun seem to struggle in their matches whereas Shiryu and Hyoga perform one-hit kills and don't even break a sweat. They ran through the third prison without stopping for a breather, just kill the spectres guarding the dump and move on with little or no time lost. WTF?! The story on Orpheus was short but pretty well done, but no way saves these 2 episodes.

I fear the last 2 episodes will kill the Seiya franchise for good.

Hikarub,

Spoiler:
But this is exactly how the manga goes, as bad as it sounds. At least the OVA's are staying true to the manga.

Here's a torrent for the Prologue
Spoiler:
From a translation I read, it's basicly the last scenes of Vol.28, with Hades remembering something about the Pegasus that haunted him during the previous Saint Wars. And it ends with a figure in the shadows, wearing the "yours ever" pendant Shun wore .

An interesting theory I've heard about "Next Dimension" is that Kurumada is going to rewrite the original ending of the manga and continue with the Tenkai chapter, but ignoring the events that happened in the "Ouverture" movie (making it, like the other movies, outside the "official" continuity).
Well, I certainly hope that would be true, so that we can forget about what happened in the movie.

Spoiler:
Unfortunately this proves that staying true to the manga isn't always a good thing. The Sanctuary episodes of Hades were superior in that aspect because they added more scenes or changed some details that weren't in the manga and without damaging the story itself. This is practicaly non-existant in the Inferno Chapter; in fact, one scene in episode 2 was actually noticably cut.

I received it yesterday. The covert art sucks because it's horribly dark and you can barely appreciate it.
The dub, however, is awesome! The only voices that return from the old mexican cast (and I mean in this particular DVD) were the narrator and Seiya (all 5 Bronze Saints will be voiced by their original voice actor, but only Seiya shows up on the first episode. However, Shiryu and Hyoga do show up briefly on episode 0, which is a summary of the entire series, and they are indeed dubbed by their original voice actors).
Dohko, Shaina, Ichi, Nachi, Mu, Deathmask, Aphrodite and Shion were all new voices, and they're all great and fitting.
The intro and outro theme songs are not dubbed.
There are no extra features, with the exception of a Shion collectible card that comes as an insert.

EDIT: And speaking of orgasms, the Aiacos Myth Cloth figure came out in Japan not too long ago.
