SEC game of the week: UGA vs USC (South Carolina). yes, spurrier's coaching, but he doesn't have the quality of players at SC that he did at UF. However, given the home field advantage and the fact that it's a night game, SC will keep it close. keep an eye on SC receiver Sidney Rice (#4). he's a top tier WR and a definite game breaker. Look for Paul Oliver to cover him. UGA's All-American DE Quentin Moses will have a field day against SC's O-line.

Georgia 21 - SC 17
(Game at 7:45 ESPN)

Man, Notre Dame looks good today. Brady Quinn looks like the real deal. Their defense is as good as it was last week.

I hate this. :\

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If you're watching the Arizona-LSU game you might want to change the channel.

Yeah this is rough.

I actually stopped watching it for a while to see the end of that Iowa/Syracuse game. Holy cow! Syracuse had 6 golden chances to tie the game from the 1-yard line and Iowa stopped them. Amazing.

It sounded like the end of the Clemson/BC game was good too, but stupid ABC went to their dumb post-game show rather than showing the other OT game still going on.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yeah, I was watching the BC game and talk about a clutch extra point block there, man that was awesome. I didn't get to see the Iowa game though. OSU-Texas time now. Also noticing that Troy State is leading Florida State in the third, and Air Force is tied with Tennessee at 10 in the second.

How ya doing, buddy?

I feel better about Notre Dame now. They beat number 19 Penn State 41-17. It sould have been 41-3 but Notre Dame's defense got lazy in the fourth quarter. After last week's game and the game today it looks like Notre Dame's defense is better than last year.

OSU has looked really, really good in this game. Texas is obviously hampered by the suspensions and by having a completely new QB. Texas's performance is still good enough to play with 95% of teams in the NCAA, but it really shows you that Texas isn't a part of this year's national championship race.

It is unfortunate we don't have a playoff, because the way that the SEC has looked this year, there are a couple of teams who could win it all, but the tough conference means it will be almost impossible for everyone to escape without a loss. The Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10, and Big East don't really have more than one team that looks like a contender.

It's almost like the BCS has screwed everything up so much that people don't even know what the hell they are voting for anymore.

Huge, huge games next week. Michigan visits Notre Dame, Miami goes to Louisville, LSU at Auburn, Oklahoma at Oregon, Clemson at Florida State (tough loss at BC vs. almost lost to TROY), Texas Tech and TCU, Nebraska and USC, Florida and Tennessee.

I can't remember there ever being this many ranked teams playing each other this early in the year.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

TOP 10 BABY!!!!!!!! look out UAB!!!

how 'bout Stafford's performance?? not bad for a true feshman against a tough SEC defense. yeah, he had 3 INTs, but Georgia's D was a stough to crack as ever. looks like the #1 QB, Tereshinski is out 6 weeks w/a sprained ankle. He's got 3 games until the Vols come to town. by that time, his decision-making will improve and the QB of the future will finally arrive.

Good lord what an ending to the Auburn-LSU game. 7-3 Auburn victory, LSU gets the ball inside their own 20 with 1:18 left and they take it all the way down to the Auburn 3 as it ends. Number 3 Auburn defeats number 6 LSU. I don't really see how USC is supposed to hurdle Auburn, what with them playing a 19th ranked Nebraska.

Auburn...

Horrible, horrible call. Pass interference all over the play.

Still a fun game to watch though, definitely down to the wire and defensive throughout.

Has been a fun day so far. That LSU/Auburn game was great (if not screwed up a bit by the refs), it's always fun to see Notre Dame get blown out, and we still have some great games tonight. Plus, how great would that be to be a fun of Boston College, going to two double OT games in a row?

LSU got screwed by the call at the end, and could have had a much easier time scoring had they been 15 yards closer. The refs definitely blew the call. It's unfortunate that the national championship race is set up in a way that LSU has basically no chance at all of getting into the championship game, even if they win out. With a playoff, a great team like LSU would have a chance.

Well the receiver got hit at about the same time as the ball was tipped AND the ball was tipped well ahead of where the receiver was, so it wasn't really that horrible a call. I think the logic of their decision on that play is that they are treating the deflection the same as a ball that is tipped at the line of scrimmage. Yeah, it sucks that a questionable call had to happen on such an important play, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Also I am watching the Tennessee-Florida game and on two consecutive plays touchdowns were called back on penalties. First Florida has an 89 yard punt return called back on a tough block in the back call, and then Tennessee has an interception return called back on a tough roughing the passer call. Wow.

Brady Quinn has to be the most overrated player in the entire NCAA. He holds the ball in the pocket for far too long, and he's not even very accurate when he does get rid of it. And Jeff Samardzija should stick to baseball. He may have had a good year last year, but he looked horrible today. For the season he only has something like 100 yards.

Switching between ND and LSU, it was making me wonder the entire game why Brady Quinn gets so much attention when you have a guy like JaMarcus Russell who was completely tearing it up.

Anyone catch the end of that Oregon/OU game? Holy cow. Oregon got a TD, a recovered on-side (followed by a TD) and a blocked FG as time expired to win the game. Great, great stuff. Could go down as the finish of the year.

Notre Dame was still #2 because the new polls weren't up yet. This has since changed, with Auburn now #2, Notre Dame falling to #12, and Miami falling out of the top 25 entirely.

That'll teach them to not stomp on Louisville's cardinal.

Well, now that we know Notre Dame isn't some unstoppable force in the world of college football, I'm looking forward to the matchup this weekend when Notre Dame comes here to play Michigan State. MSU beat Notre Dame last year, hopefully they can pull it off again this year.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
