Phantasy Star Online for DC
I'm trying to get PSO to work in Chankast. The game loads fine but it's asking for an access key. I just want to play offline but the screen won't progress past that part. Is there a way around this?

I guess you have to add one....or you could buy the game from a game store for $5. More than worth the effort on that second option.
It may be a bug with the fact you're using an emulator. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The problem is that a PC cd-rom drive cannot read GD-ROMs...
Better try this on a real Dreamcast. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Or maybe he's running an image file. I tried that once but didn't even make it that far. If you downloaded an ISO, can you tell me where you got it from?
How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah, I'm running an image file mounted with daemon tools. I d/led it here:
http://snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=4928 any ideas on what the problem could be? The serial and access key is supplied but after I put the access key in the screen just sits there and does nothing... I was speaking idiomatically.

My best guess is its the emulator causing the problem. Only thing you can do about that is try another one.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Maybe it's because PSO is designed to work with only one DC. I'm sure something like that would get transfered over through emulation, unless someone could hack it to bypass that coding. Otherwise don't bother with a used PSO, it's useless.

Is Chankast even online capable? Even if so, at this point, HIGHLY likely the DC servers are down.

It probably doesn't work on Chankast because in the Dreamcast version, it stored the serial information in the Dreamcast's internal memory (not on a memory card), and chances are Chankast doesn't emulate that, so when the game tries to access that part it just hangs. You'll probably just have to wait until an updated version of the emulator for it to work, although since the PSO games are the only ones that need that they probably won't add it anytime soon.
