Goodbye Mr. Wizard
It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the passing of Don Herbert - the one and only "Mr. Wizard". Don lost his battle with cancer today, June 12, 2007, at 9 AM Pacific Daylight Time - slightly more than one month shy of his 90th birthday. He was lovingly surrounded by his family, who are at once, saddened by his passing, and relieved that he is no longer suffering.
We all feel extremely lucky to have had him in our lives and to have known and worked with Don over the years. We have also been tremendously honored to carry on his legacy as an original and truly legendary figure in the worlds of both Television and Science Education. He has been inspirational and influential in so many ways and on so many lives and we are comforted in the fact that his ground breaking work and legacy will continue to inspire many more people for years to come. Thank you so much to all of you for your support and sympathy. Sincerely, The Family http://www.mrwizardstudios.com/ Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Aw shit. I thought there was a thread on this and I missed it =( This didn't even pop up on Fark.com or DrudgeReport...
Sigh. I remember watching his 80s series of Mr. Wizard. Good times... There's nowhere I can't reach.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

Awwww. I had already wondered what had happened to him. I thought he died many years ago. Mr. Wizard's World used to beone of my favorite shows when I was younger.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I remember listening to this news a couple days ago on the radio. Sad, sad day indeed.
How ya doing, buddy? |
This goes to show how many people don't look at my ChocoJournal.
As I said there, between Bill Nye and Don Hebert, there is no other gold standard for televised childrens' scientific education (fuck off Beakman). (Except, maybe, for that Brainiac show.) I was speaking idiomatically. |
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I remember Mr. Wizard. I used to watch him way back in the mists of time, when we would visit my grandparents who had cable. I'd watch that and You Can't Do That On Television. Oh, early to mid 80s. FELIPE NO |
Quit whoring yourself, prostitute. You're not even the good kind. You're the kind that's old, scraggly, missing teeth, blackened eyes, and would let me jerk off on her face for a quarter. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I remember watching Mr. Wizard now and then way back when I was little. I was really disappointed when they took the show off the air, but then they started showing it again at 6:00 AM and I'd occasionally catch a little bit before heading off to school. I wish there were more shows like that on for kids nowadays.
