Also, as far as killing off the main character (or one of the main playable characters) part way into the game, how about that there Call of Duty 4. You play the entire game as one of two characters and one of them is offed about half/two-thirds of the way through. I think it's a tack, certainly in an RPG, that could be attempted elsewhere provide it was done well. I think the issue would be with how you sensibly set up the second playable character and get the player invest in them without having to slow the game down to a crawl, which is why CoD4's dual character set up worked well. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
