losing things...
Over the past 6 months I have managed to lose my Sony A-Trac player (in october) and my iPod Nano (in Febuary) and I now have a 30 Gb Creative Zen (which my friends are all betting on the day I will lose it) I was super pissed off because I had nothing to listen to for months at a time.
I want to know, who else has lost something expensive/ important to them recently? How did you feel about it? Have you seen my iPod ? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I never let it go out of my sight. And when I do put it back, I make sure to put it in the same place. Always. Like my iPod nano. Whenever I take it with me, I have it somewhere visual, or in my pockets all the time. And I always put it back inside my desk drawer. Not on a table, not ontop of the TV. But inside my drawer. I think being consistent helps a lot when you don't want to lose things.
There's nowhere I can't reach. Dance party! |
I'm being way more aware of my Zens where abouts now. Its basically glued to my hand when ever I take it anywhere. For my old diskman I tried making it look like the biggest piece of shit in the world by coloring on it with dry markers, and sticking random pieces of duct tape on it but it was still stolen...
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

I've lost track of a fair amount of my GameBoy games. IIt's not expensive, but I lose my watch at least once a month. On occassion, I lose my wallet. I recently found my cell phone charger. I happen to lose lots of things. It would only be worse if I were to clean my room.

I always keep my iPod nearby or in a secure backpack =d I don't let it leave my vicinity unless it is hidden in a usual spot. I never lose *anything*. My skills at keeping track of my lewt are quite nice.
I was speaking idiomatically.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

I carry everything in a set spot, whenever I use something it goes straight back in its spot, that way I never lose a thing.
Keycard and train/tube pass back left pocket. Wallet back right pocket. Keys left pocket. Mobile phone right pocket. MP3 Player shoulder bag pocket, or shirt/inner jacket pocket. I do roughly 4 hours of traveling a day by bus/train/tube/walking so I have to be extra careful not to lose anything. Generally at home most of my things are in a set place and kept in order, I'm just naturally a neat person but I am by no means meticulous. Usually if I do lose something it generally turns up like a week later after I have lost all hope of finding it after shredding up my room. Most amazing jew boots

I lost my wallet containing $2.70, my drivers licence, credit card, bank card, superannuation membership, all my tax recipts that were gunna score me hundreds come tax time and most importantly of all, my local arcade membership card.
Mysteriously, my university card showed up not in my wallet. And as if fate had protected it, my medicare card arrived the next day. FELIPE NO |
I thought I lost my Ipod USB cable one time, but I found it next day on the living room in front of the tv, where I never usually put it.
I lost the apartment keys along with a full metal alchemist keychain during one of my calculus lectures, and I never found them. I lost $40 on another day because I had just shoved it in my jacket pocket hurriedly after my mom gave it to me, and then after calculus I realized it wasn't in my pocket anymore. I lost my Strauss waltz book last year and found it recently, still lying around, at the Conservatory where I work. I lost my Calculus Midterm 1 and never got a chance to study from it before the exam. Haven't found that yet. I just lost my Piano Collections "One Winged Angel" sheet music after searching through the whole binder. Fortunately I memorized it. I lost my cellphone one time, under a bench at the mall and luckily a family was kind enough to bother to let us pick it up from their place after finding it (although it was in the next town over). Fortunately, and I don't want to jinx this, I've never lost my wallet. Obviously devastating since it has my SIN, health card, etc. in there. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I once lost my entire computer. It turns out I had left it at a LAN party -> TWO lan parties ago, and never noticed (it was my alternate computer). It was a laptop that ran me about $1200 or something like that. Luckily my friends aren't assholes . Took me awhile to remember where it was though, lol.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I lost a few things but they aren't very expensive...
Well, I lost Pokemon Crystal and never found it. I lost Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island too, but found it back after a WHOLE YEAR. It was on a place I never would've looked... Somewhere hidden deep between my other GBA games. >_< *Sigh* The horror. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I've never lost anything expensive before. The three most important objects I use and move around daily are my phone, car keys, and iPod. They tend to go into the same pockets after I've used them.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I lose things all the time, although I've never lost anything expensive. I usually keep track of my important, valuable items, so it's pretty hard to lose them. However, I lose everything else. I've given up on purchasing nice pens and pencils, since I lose those things at an amazing rate. I have this problem where I wander off in the middle of writing something, and when I do so, I bring my writing utensils with me, only to absent-mindedly set it down somewhere. I've even lost clothing, which is rather strange, as I don't dump my clothes anywhere outside of the house.
I think the most ridiculous case of mine involves a pink paperclip, which I eventually found in the fridge. I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION.

Wow, I don't know what I would do if I somehow misplaced my computer (which is impossible for me to do since it's massive) I just remembered a couple months ago when I lost my wallet that had my bank card, drivers licence, first aid certificate, $5, and my Alice Cooper stub Luckily it turned out my friend found it under his couch or something 2 weeks after I lost it.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Most things I lose are minor: receipts, books on a plane, papers, documents, socks... They turn up now and then ( the book didn't) and usually the problem is that someone else is the one cleaning up my mess. I generally remember where I put things if my room stays the way it was from the last time I left it.
On a weird note, I misplaced my pen one day during 3 hours of sitting down and writing an research paper. I was really ticked at the time because I had to meet a deadline and annoyed everyone around me, asking if they had seen it. It was only after I took another pen, finished writing the damn paper, I sat back on the chair and scratched my head. I forgot that I'd used the pen to tie up my hair because it was hot at the time. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

Well aside from losing a wide assortment of clothes I've only lost a few small trivial items. A tamagachi-esqe device, a library book that costed me 15 god damned dollars to replace. Although I do remember one time I was using a pen I really liked that I lost. Spent a good part of a whole day looking for hat pen. Until finally I went to the restroom and when I looked into the mirror I found my pen resting between my right ear and my head.

Every time I lose something and start looking for it I find the LAST thing I was looking for, but never the thing I need at that moment. I also found out that 'intentionally' losing something to find the thing you need at the moment does not trick fate into letting you find that item.
Damn fate. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Before in elementary/high school, the only items I would lose would tend to be various clothing articles: shirts, sweaters, and... pants.... ._.
Lately, I don't lose things. A couple of months ago I did hideously misplace my wallet, and I was without it for a little over a day. I later found it in the niche between the door and passenger seat in my roommate's car. *VICTORY FANFARE* There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Some rotten kid in my neighborhood stole my Bomberman setup. I had a box with a Super Nintendo w/ hookups, the multitap, four controllers, and Super Bomberman 1 & 2, all packed up and ready to bust out at a moments notice. When I was moving in to my apartment (which I am moving out of right now), I left it in the front seat of my car, and it disappeared real fast.
The two things that bug me the most about this is: 1. The majority of the kids in my neighborhood were born after Super Nintendo was released, and 2. I fear the kids will actually hook up the system, realize that the graphics are really outdated (which don't matter in a game of Bomberman), and break it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The thing that bugs me about it is you were stupid enough to leave it on the seat without a bag or blanket covering it.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I lose stuff all the time. I always just throw things wherever. I am not, by any means, neat. I've lost tons of pens, clothes, notebooks, books, games...it's also because i've moved so much, though. I've moved at least 7 times in the past 7 years, and I've lived with relatives who were...well...thieves. *sigh*
I was speaking idiomatically. |
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Whens the last time a giant biker dude with 40 inch biceps and 12 gauge stole somebody's bomberman rig? Pretty sure the thief is some skinny little kid in the second grade who likes bomberman and pokemon cards.
How ya doing, buddy? |

I was unpacking my car when it was stolen, and kids are naturally curious to check out what is new in the neighborhood. Most of the kids in the neighborhood are real good kids who are mischiveous at best, but I know their are a few rotten apples among the bunch. Either way, I'm still a strong advocate against violence to children.
It was in a box in the front seat, they could have stolen my stereo system in the back seat (or even better my stereo system in my car with my kicker box), but only kids would see a brown box labeled "Bomberman" and see it as something interesting. I just thought I misplaced it among all of my boxes, but only after I unpacked everything a good two months later did I realize it was gone. We just play Gamecube bomberman now. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
