It's not bad. Personally I think DJs always fair better when they work with an emcee (as opposed to featuring on a few tracks). Even the new Flying Lotus doesn't do it for me. I did really like that Emancipator album you posted, but that's an exception.

I've got some really good hip-hop to put up. God I'm lazy. XD

I was just thinking about how pissed I was that I never backed up The Love Below. Audiophile, you rule!

Posted a local band for you guys. It's the first time since I first saw Dredg as an opening band that an opening band has gotten me excited about their music.

It's not all gold, but the real meat of the album is great stuff. Hope you guys enjoy.

Whoa Skexis, that Pop Pistol stuff is awesome.
I'm surprised they're not signed yet, it's so damned good.

Hey, man, glad you liked it! I felt pretty much the same way you did when I saw them, so I hope their career takes off. From the way they were talking, though, they're pretty attached to San Antonio as a city (they were all about encouraging local artists-- even had someone painting a picture on the stage while they played), so I dunno how much exposure they'll get unless they decide to up and move to Austin or out to Cali.

As for today, I loaded up a band called Portal, who have been nonstop in my car radio and winamp lately. The singer's voice and lyrics just mesh so well with the music, I can't stay away from it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Where do you hear about all these great little unsigned acts? Do they just play in your area and sell their albums at local venues or what?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Sometimes, although to be honest a lot of the underground stuff I get is from this thread. Portal was a recommendation from a friend who gets a lot of alternative and rock releases on the internet.

I realized that I had some really cool stuff to put up...so I did. There may even be more tomorrow, and it's all completely unrelated...so hopefully, something for everyone.

How ya doing, buddy?

Little update for any fans of Pop Pistol: they apparently put their album (which I discovered is called Angelus) on bandcamp.mu, which offers a lot of different qualities, including flac, and you get to name your price. It also has "official" album art if you're into that kind of thing.

The version I put up has an extra instrumental track, "You Will Fall," which is decent but not a dealbreaker. Anyway, if you liked the album enough, check it out.

Hay guise. I posted for the first time in a while, with a FANTASTIC Wesley Willis album. If you don't already have it, you owe it to yourself to grab it.

In addition to Dull's post, I've incidentally also uploaded the first six Bee Gees albums in their entirety after the interest shown in the SAUS thread. I'm putting them up in my journal if anyone's interested in going a bit further into this.

Fuck yeah, Zip! That N.A.S.A. joint is fucking sick! I've also uploaded a few things in there. They were mostly for zip to check out but since they're there it's not like I can't recommend them to everyone. Enjoy!

Some time this week I think I'm gonna upload this local punk act (long island native) called Bomb the Music Industry. They've got some really catchy songs and pretty good lyrics. The frontman actually has all their albums up to download for free on their website, but the site's down, so I'll probably sendspace a couple when I get a chance.

I remember when that William Shatner album first came out, our local rock radio station was using a bunch of random clips from it for the morning show and basically pointing their fingers and laughing. Then, "What Have You Done" came on and each of them stopped dead mid-sentence. You could hear the smiles melt off each of their faces even as their esteem of the album soared.

It's a very powerful track.

I was speaking idiomatically.

For that Argyle Pimp's album, I have to ask about the song Howard Hughes--does anybody know what the name of the song is that's playing in the background? It sounds so familiar, but I can't place it.

It's Modest Mouse, actually. The song is called The Devil's Workday on the album Good News For People Who Love Bad News.
