Self Portraits

Hey all. Draw some self portraits and post them in here. I wanna see a wide range of mediums too... anything from ms paint to a collage or a relief. I've got a few in a sketchbook that i did a week ago that i'll put up tomorrow.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

did this last summer I think. I have no idea how to paint with watercolours, so I was just messing around with it, and this was the result.

it looks so much worse when scanned ;_;

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've noticed a reluctance to post pictures of yourself, magi. Why is that?

When I was in figure drawing I had to do like, 12 self-portraits. Here's the "final project" one:

Vine Charcoal, about 3 hours' worth of work. The original is like, 22x25 or something...quite large.

I decided for the final I wanted to be in my concert outfit, with my viola. All my previous SPs were in like, t-shirts and underwear o___O...

Why yes, yes it was.

At least I didn't have to draw my hands and walnuts over and over...he made some of the kids do that, I hear.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Richard made us kids do a lot of things. Walnuts were a pain in the ass, the hands were OK, I guess. But I hated when he told me "put three pictures together and make a drawing out of them".

I didn't even do that one. I went out and fucked my girlfriend instead.

I failed the class...

You should have drawn that. Might have gotten you extra credit .
Peterson would have appreciated it...I think...

That's beautiful Arkhangelsk, especially the way the refracted light plays on the skin of the face; details are what makes art in my opinion. Post more of these somewhere, you said there were twelve?

I'm all about details in my art .

I have a few of them with me here at college, but I left most of them back home (they're all pretty big, at least 22x30...). But I'll see what I can do.

That's nicely done. I never liked working with vine charcoal, so it's good to see a finished picture looking like that. Only 3 hours? That's impressive.

Nice work people. That vine charcoal drawing is fantastic, especially for just 3 hours work. Ive never been great at doing charcoal drawing myself so good job on that. And Avsie, you know I <3 that portrait!

I don't really have a proper self portrait that I can post, just a quick stylised one that I did a few months back. Nothing too great, probably took about an hour or so.

holy shizzazlephones, kev out of nowhere <3

ah the infamous livejournal icon image of yours. I love it.

also kudos to arkhangelsk on that self portrait. the one I did in my highschool class was just a pencil drawing of our face, and we spent way more time on ours. I would have much prefered to do something like that, because in the end it looks more like you since it's looser and not so frustrating if every fine detail isn't absolutely you. also because charcoal is a bitch, you win at life.

How ya doing, buddy?

Thanks for the compliments!
I always meant to spend more time on them, but no matter what, I always ended up waiting until 12am to start on my portraits, the night before class. So I couldn't take too long to finish them >_<.

I did this last semester for my art class. I think it was an interesting type of pose due to the fact that I had an Idea while I was thinking of what to do for the charcoal drawing project. It was where I wanted to make a drawing that showed a drawer trying to draw the people looking at the picture. For the background I used Chalk and for the actual drawing, I used black and white charcoal on brown paper. I used a simple photograph to draw this.
