Anyone knows how to change the VS screen? Instead of the EVE Battle one, I want to change it to something
Like this dr4ch1r.mgbr.net/MvC2versus.jpg Or this dr4ch1r.mgbr.net/3Sversus.jpg Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Also I have been taking a crack at making my own character from scratch..man thats no joke it's hard business. heres what I'm working on. ![]() nothing great, just slapping something together to see how it wall works out. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
"To Light_Alchemist, Cyric and others... You guys tend to rely on other work too much, believe me it is more fun to create your personal mugen from the scratch." - WooshaQ
I have to agree with Cyric on this one. It's really only your opinion that it's more fun to create your own game from scratch. I'm comfortable with my computing skills, but I'm not about to claim that I am an expert. I'm sure that you don't have to be a PC master to use Mugen. However, by all the posts I've seen here about games crashing and encounters with bugs, I'd rather not create my own game, at least, not right now. Last time I checked, the Fighter Maker series by Agetec didn't have impeccable sales nor did it have glowing reviews by the critics. And that was a commercial game that was distributed at retail (meaning you had to pay for it). "It's really easy, I will help if in case of any problems so make some effort and make something unique!" - WooshaQ While I appreciate any help you guys can give me, I really just want to download a ready-made game. If I get a good one and I enjoy it, then I will certainly make my own (if I can find the time, as I'm generally very busy at the moment). I'd still keep the one I downloaded though. "I used the shortcut and downloaded a torrent version of it, it was so buggy and more than half of the chars don't even work." - vboy23 Was it the one that was provided by SOLDIER at the beginning of this thread? Because my client keeps saying that my connection was refused every time I try to download it. I suspect you have to be a registered member at torrentspy to download torrents from them. "Just so you know, the thread is meant is primarily meant for people new to MUGEN. The purpose is to help each other out as well as share any characters and such. So please don't lecture so much when most of us are asking for help." - SOLDIER That was my impression, at first. This forum sparked some interest for me when I read the home page banner: "Home of the best online community. Active, interesting, friendly - Talk about anything! - No BS!" Hmm, intriguing. "Since you bring it up, a question for you. Does this apply to original creation characters, or to ports as well? Because I can only see the term "pirate" and laugh whenever someone clings insecurely to their SFA3 Ryu conversion. I'm not angry at you, mind you, I'm just curious how they attempt to justify this to themselves. Number two, though, I'm not sure why being published with or without someone's permission is such a bad thing. If you make an original character available for use in a customizable engine, why do you care who gets to use it? As long as it's got your name in the credits, why can't Joe Schmoe have it fight against his Evil Ken? That's the point of MUGEN to begin with." - Skexis This is definitely stating the obvious but, isn't Mugen illegal in the first place? Most of the characters that you get from their "creator's" sites are either exact copies of SNK's/Capcom's/any other company's characters or spin-offs of them like Evil Ryu, Evil Ken, Ella, and a bunch others. Consequently, if these authors think that it's illegal to warehouse their "copyrighted" (actually, copyrighted by real companies like SNK and Capcom) creations, then would that make Mugen and Mugen characters doubly illegal? That is, illegal from actual video game companies' point of view, and illegal from the Mugen fighter makers' point of view? Hell, even the program itself is "illegal." The original Mugen program was created by Elecbyte (obviously, an online moniker) for the Microsoft DOS system in 1999. Then, in 2003, his website (where you could download the free Mugen program) mysteriously vanished. Apparently, Elecbyte dropped off the face of the Earth. Since then, people have taken his program, and put it on the internet for free download. All without his permission. Anybody here drawing parallels from Elecbyte's Mugen and people "warehousing" other people's creations without their permission? Yeah, if Elecbyte decided to stop Mugen altogether (back in 2003), this thread would likely not even exist today. The internet is a vast ocean of legal gray areas. What might be right for you may not be right for some. In case some of you are wondering, I got all this information from Wikipedia's Mugen article. I can't link to it because I'm one of those "zero-posters" that seem to be derided by some here. "This is exactly how I feel with all the whining going around with MUGEN creators. Is it not the point for other people to use their works as they see fit? If they're worrying about credability, all they have to do is trademark their name in somewhere (just check out Thor for proof). That's why I can't understand or respect all their decisions to close down their sites and keep people from downloading their characters." - SOLDIER Exactly. Those people that are complaining about not getting their due credit forgot that they're making characters to be used on an illegal program. These are free downloads on the internet. How much more free could Mugen (supposedly) get than by being distributed on the internet? If I was making some of those characters, all I'd do is put my name everywhere and I'd feel pleased about my work. "I third this one, wearhouse drama shutdown makes Mugen harder, rather than less pirated." - Conan-the-3rd No kidding. Users are still going to put their collections of characters, stages, and screenpacks in a folder and upload it on BitTorrent, Limewire, Rapidshare, or whatever. The warehouses live on. "Well, more power to them for their effort, but if they wanted recognition of skill, they're in the wrong business. I understand that it took a lot of time to do it, and if they invested a lot into the characters, then it will show. Expecting people not to spread a free, easily imported piece of art --what they consider to be a neat creation-- is some kind of wacky looney tunes logic that I can't identify with. And I don't really care to look at the credits, no. It's just that people notice repetition, or exception. If they see a certain community bringing a lot of good work to the table, or one exceptional piece of work from an individual, then chances are they'll give the proper attention. Expecting anything else is a bit like asking the world to change to suit your desires. It doesn't help that a lot of these places seem pretty insular to begin with, so when they're done convincing themselves that they're right, they don't bother to listen to the substance of people's complaints. No, the creators and porters of these characters are not here for our entertainment. They don't have to do anything, and we can't force them, but that's the point. They're doing it of their own volition. And they're doing it as a service. Not an exchange. I'm not trying to grill you or put you in an uncomfortable position, but I'm sensing that you're closer to the mugen community than a lot of people here, so I think you might be able to give me better answers than most." - Skexis Dude, what business? Mugen is a shady, freeware program that uses legally questionable material. And it's all free, the way it should be. Yeah, if it's their own choice to make a fighter and upload it to the web, they should know that it will be used and altered by other people (if it's popular enough, that is). Tis the way of the internet. "WooshaQ didn't give any opinion about first time posters, he just stated a "fact" (depending on what you consider alot at least). However there are some other people here who have seemed a bit more disdainful towards newer members." - Cyric I noticed that myself. Maybe some think that new users should never register and that only regulars that have been posting for years and have accumulated 10,000+ messages should post at a public message board? Of course, that would bring up the problem of how one becomes a regular in the first place. *slaps forehead* Oh yeah, by registering. :| Anyway, the reason this post was so long was because I don't get much boards time (as I said, I'm quite busy right now) and new users can't blockquote at this forum. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
well made...and long point but come on you can't dis ella
![]() come on, come on I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
"well made...and long point but come on you can't dis ella"- Lost_solitude
I wasn't. I was merely using her as an example of custom-made characters that are more original than merely using an exact copy of a commercial game character, but still heavily based on another creator's IP. Ella uses Freeman's (a character from the Garou/Fatal Fury series) sprite and is based on the character Sadako from the Ringu/Ring series of horror films. I was speaking idiomatically.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

ken you might find some lifebars you like here rotb.mgbr.net/addons but finding original lifebars all in one place is kinda hard. Shadow dio and dio are also here if you know who they are.

Thanks Lazy Guy, I will check that out.
Also, does anyone know how to make the songs for one's stage loop instead of only playing once into silence? WooshaQ I know you know! ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |

Most amazing jew boots |
Much easier would be for you just to replace the entire screenpack, (this is really easy) if I remember correctly SF3-like offers ~20 character slots, MVC2 about 20 more. I guess you have more than that if you're using EVE... so abandoning some fighters will be necessary.
However, there is another way. I'm not sure if you're aware of the fact that on single mugen you can have many screenpacks, lifebars etc. If you are interested pick up you best warriors and I'll tell you what to do. FELIPE NO ![]()

yea if you stick to a smaller screenpack its much easier to organize fighters and find which ones you really like to fight with/against or find your toughest characters and use them for the challenge.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Has anyone seen the issue with Mugen dying after attempting to continue (after losing in Arcade mode, of course)? If so, do you guys have a fix?

Thanks guys for the comments, the previous one was missing something, maybe the layout of ryu and ken was not right. Funny thing is that the current one looks kind of hentai-ish I mean Sakura was suppose to be another body but when I look at her now it looks like she's making her move on Cammy ;pOtakumanga... We not trade, we share [; I just happend to find the holy ken and believe me, it sucks because of the poor usage of stolen code. Thought it will be better but it appeared to be the one of the worst creation ever! http://www.megaupload.com/jp/?d=UF2ZKZCT FELIPE NO ![]()

Hey Woosha, I was wondering. Is there perhaps some program where you can dump all your character folders into it and it will balance the strengths of everyone?
I ask because some characters that I have are totally overpowered and take down as much life on a single punch as someone else's super would do. If that doesn't exist (which I can imagine it doesn't, that would be too easy :P) I wonder, how do you edit each character to make it somewhat balanced? Is it even worth it? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Another thing I was wondering is there's a way to assign which character (or which set of characters, which the computer would pick at random) would be the final boss? How ya doing, buddy? |
