Emulators for PSP
HI, I have learned that the PSP can use emulators to play SNES ROMS, my friend told me that I should be able to do it quite easily since my firmware version is 1.52....
anyone know where I can download the emulators that can be installed on the PSP? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Japanese giant Konami has quietly divulged its current crop of titles to US retailers for this year and, despite a couple of notable omissions including Pro Evo and MGS 4, they make for some interesting reading.
Most important perhaps is a new Silent Hill remake for PSP entitled Original Sin, which is set for release in October and will feature the original game's storyline with a few added plot diversions to add lashings of extra horror. psp-news.com UAGH! Finally a Silent hill 1 remake for psp! There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Definately loooking forward to this. a remade Harry ,lisa, cybil and Michael Kaufman ^-^. The only time we saw Harry remade was

It's weird - on the web I haven't really seen an increased traffic in PSP interest due to the new $199 price. Do you think this is because people interested in it already purchased one? I thought the new price would generate some increased interest in this system... Or do you think people are waiting to see if there will be a redesign?

That..or maybe it isn't worth it . Something will trigger them to buy it though. If not for 200 bucks, then definately for a game.

I read the newest issue of OPM today, and there was an interesting review of Field Commander. The articule's author, who said he owned a DS only for Advance Wars: Dual Strike, said that Field Commander was just a bit better than Advance Wars. He gave the game a 5 outta 5.

Ratchet and Clank for the PSP? Sweeeet. Usually there's always some sort of gimmick that Ratchet and Clank play with Jak and Daxter. They poke fun at each other and advertise their games, etc. But this time, not so much. For one, you'd expect, after seeing Daxter, Clank to get his own game. But no, this game's apparently going back to its roots before Ratchet: Deadlocked. No biggie though. The two games do have something in common though -- they're being developed by studios NOT over their original creation. Naughty Dog did not develop Daxter, and Insomniac is letting High Impact handle the heavy load. But like Blizzard's former employees, High Impact's roster consists of many former Insomniac employees who've worked on previous Ratchet and Clank titles. I'm pretty much stoked. I've been waiting for this news, and now I'm waiting on a Sly Cooper PSP game. Rock on! I went into the local Gamestop today, and there was a PSP with Medieval playing on it, so I got a chance to try one out finally. Wow - talk about an out of body experience. I kept trying to hold the unit (it was tied down) closer to me because I felt like my PS2 had "shrunk." It felt really claustrophobic. To me, this was a great sign. Because it really felt like playing a PS1/PS2 game on a smaller screen. The analog nub was a different design than I thought it would be, but I can see why they did that due to space constraints. Sensitivity was decent.
There's more games out and scheduled to be out this year for PSP that I'm interested in than there are Xbox 360 games that I'm interested in. I'm still waiting to see if it's going to be the Atari Lynx/Game Gear of its day, though... What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Speaking of the PSP, I've always been impressed by the PSP's screen size, but it just feels so prone to being scratched. Unfortunately I won't be buying one as the price isn't coming down. I'm seeing a few titles which might be worth buying for the PSP, but it just isn't enough at the moment. And where the hell is Me and My Katamari? I haven't even seen that in stores yet. How ya doing, buddy? |

I've got at least a dozen copies of Me and my Katamari at my store, and the PSP can be purchased preowned for $180 bucks -- $70 underneath their original price.
Granted, it's only one reviewer. It's not like I'd listen to him and only him. But I've never played Advance Wars, so if I try Field Commander than his review is likely to be more accurate for me than it would for someone who has played it before. Anyway, regardless of whoever says what, I still plan on trying it. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? PSP NEW FIRMWARE
I just download the new firmware for the PSP I believe that it's the verions 2.60.
I didn't bother reading about what it can do. So can someone just tell me please? I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
1. Lets you play games that require 2.6
2. You can download and access RSS feeds (used for stuff like podcasts). 3. Um... well, I'm not sure which version you've upgraded from, but ever since 2.0, you could use AVC encoded video, which is a plus. Also, in 2.0, they added support for background images on the home menu. Also, the biggest feature in 2.0 was the addition of a web-browser. 4. Support for LocationFree Player, but that's not really anything to be excited about, since a player costs hundreds of bucks, from my knowledge. 5. Support for wma audio files, I think. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
6. You can't use emulators / homebrew now that you've updated to 2.6
(Because you or somebody else is just bound to ask this, and then Jazz is going to be like "I've explained this two hundred and fourty times before okay" and everyone will be like "oh" and ask it a few more times, just for kicks.) FELIPE NO |
6. WPA-AES (WPA2) encryption added for WLAN. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
There's only one way to run an emulator (and I believe there's only one) on 2.6 is with GTA, that fanjita discovered. No other firmware versions require you to purchase additional games for emulation.
"Wrong." just doesn't cut it. Try again. How ya doing, buddy?

Your statement that the 2.6 firmware can't run emulators or homebrew is plain wrong and you know that. The steps and things required to load homebrew don't matter. What matters is that it is possible - a simple fact that you denied.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
More to the point, you somehow missed the fact that you can't run previously used emulators on a 2.6 PSP, even though you've played them before. How do I know this? I suggest reading pspupdates.qj.net heavily. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
So basically you're now admitting that you can run homebrew or emulators on 2.6, right?
I know that it requires GTA: LCS, but I was just pointing out that stating that it's not possible at all is a false statement. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
But your original statement was wrong, you said emulators cannot be played on the firmware. You didn't say emulators can be played, but only through certain means.
WRONG. EDIT - BEAT'N I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Alright, Elixir's wrong. Now that that's settled no more back and forth about this crap that won't go anywhere.

Although it's been out for a while, once you actually get into Metal Gear Acid, it's an incredibly addicting game. I love farming points and trying to get rare cards in the card shop.
I've just beaten the first game, and I'm now on the second and WOW, it improved EVERYTHING. The movement controls are so much better, and the graphics are streamlined and not as clunky. It's just so polished. Plus, 500+ cards this time! HOLY CRAP! FELIPE NO |
Does Acid 2 make the first one obsolete or is it worth it to pick up the first one?
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
The first one has an interesting freaky storyline, and it gets you accustomed to the general gameplay. Plus, you'll probably find a used copy of it, so it's cheaper.
You could just skip to Acid2 (since the storylines don't directly connect), but then you'd be missing out on a whole game (since you'll probably not want to go back to Acid1's gameplay after you play the second). Jam it back in, in the dark. |
