Oh well... I'm currently just started in the Jungle as well... I might go back to it now, or at least trudge back and get the Grimore that ashaman mentions:

Yeah... I think I'll try that as soon as I amass 18K Gil, which I should be able to do if I walk back to Rabanastre from the forest

The Grimore forgotten notes are made of AWESOME DROPS and WIN. Trust me and get it. There's a 25K I'm saving for, which should enhance my loot, and or speed up the 3 stages from regular crap to awesome stuff.

It is very important to get the forgotten notes as soon as possible, that's all I can say about it. It's damn expensive, yes, but trust me, you will get back the money with all the additional loot you're going to get!

Question. I just discovered the hidden area in Giza Plains during the rains (track of the beasts is what i think it's called.) I just see giant tortoises...is there anything i should be missing here aside from the feather?

Some monster will appear there once you accepted the hunt (I think you have to speak to Monblanc in the Clan HQ). There has to be heavy rain as well. I could be wrong, though.

I've been addicted to the game for awhile now. I've been taking my time to gain up levels so I'm way more powerful than I need to be. Before fighting the first Demon Wall in Raithwall's Tomb, my guys were around lvl 25-6 and Vaan was lvl 30. I basically just wondered through the Sandsea over and over again, killing guys and stealing. I managed to score a shitload of loot by setting Vaan's primary gambit to steal while everybody else just beat the crap out of everything. This seemed to work really well as by the time I was finished, I aquired nearly 50K gil and a shitload of LP. I'm trying to open every slot on the board with every character. I ended up wasting all my cash on Gold Armor as soon as I got back to Rabanastre though, and now I'm off to hunt as many marks as I can before they get too difficult as well as kill a million baddies in Giza now that the dudes down there are worth killing.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I didn't have any problems with my party of 24-25. Then again, I had lots of good licenses, such as several HP+s, several Swiftness', etc. I don't think the Rank I and II hunts are difficult though.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

With your stats at where you are, you should be okay for a while. Use your LP with all the Augmentation points first, since they automatically kick into effect, rather than have to buy the skill with money later, like Magick for example.

Good deal, that's kinda what I've been doing. I've have only been buying weapons, magicks, techniks, and accessories, that I can acutally buy and equip. Other than that, I've stayed with purchasing augments. That +500 HP one and the Increase Physical Damage ones awesome. I've gotten all the augments with the exeptions of the Lore ones that increase effectiveness of ethers, potions, and phoenix downs. I've also skipped out on some of the gambit slots unless they were on a path to a different upgrade.

At this point, I don't really see the benefit to having a billion gambit slots. Is there a reason why I should be paying 90 LP for a gambit slot when I could be using the same deal to buy something else?

Also, I've just gotta say, that this is the first time in a long while that I've been addicted to a game. I'm so glad that this FF has lived up to the hype. Square's really outdone themselves this time, and they've seemed to have really pushed the limits of the PS2.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, if you use gambit slots a lot, then yes, it'd be worth it, but I don't so I only buy them if they're in the way of a square that I need to get to.

I couldn't play last night 'cause my little sister was hogging the bedroom. I'm going to catch up tonight, unless she's stuck in there again.

Almost 50 hours now, today I did some more hunts, in Nabudis and the swamp area which is nearby, what a deadly place, I almost died a couple of times, although my characters are already level 50+. I am saving money for the canopic jar which costs 250,000 O_o but I heard it's worth it!

It is much easier when you have dispel. I fought him once at level 20ish and he was tough but I could stay alive. He casted protect and shell (I think) towards the end and I eventually ran out of MP and potions before I could kill him. I then played another few hours of the actual storyline and got dispel in the next town. After that he was pretty easy. Just don't use an icebrand sword against him.

I did the same thing in the Sandsea. But from my experience, if you play just a few more hours into the storyline you will have access to Gold Amulets which make LP leveling so much faster. And instead of spending the money on armor, etc, buy the forgotten grimoires from the bazaar (to get them, read the hunt board 40x, talk to magic/weapon/armor dealers 30x, just talk to merchants over and over until they appear). Golden Amulets and Grimoires will speed up the game and remove the need to grind areas like the Sandsea.

Once I got the +500 and swiftness licenses, my next goal was to get every character 3 quickenings. Doing this makes hunts much easier, plus it triples the amount of MP everyone has. If you just finished the Demonwall area and you are at level 30 with Vaan, try hunting the marks in the sewers of Rabanastre. They are rank V when most are only rank III. By killing marks at higher ranks than you should be capable of killing, you earn weapons/armor that you normally wouldn't get until much later in the game. And if you killed the optional Demonwall, you should have earned the Demonsabre (or something like it) which should double Vaan's attack power.

I just arrived at Phon Coast and each of my characters has 1000 LP to spend and I don't really care to spend them as they won't affect me. Once you have all of the augments magick/technicks, excess LP points are rather useless. Sure, you need to buy better armor licenses but you can easily get enough LP from casual playing to buy them. You don't have to grind an area.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

i was reading on gameFAQs that there is this monster in the barheim passage that u can steal a deathbringer from. Anyone try it?

Yea this game is a blast man LOL, its unbelievably fun, i like it alot, now Vaan is at level 40, which isnt too great, but isnt too bad. And i did this sidequest in the caravan at the MH and it was to get exodus, HOLY SHIT, that guy is insane, one hit and my guys lost 1800 health, he destroyed me, do NOT do that unless u have seriously amazing armor.

Wow, I did not know about this. I just opened up the passage last night and got the esper but I have yet to steal anything from any enemies in the game. Guess I better go back and try it. Thanks!

If you haven't already, pick up the Zodiac Spear and a bubble belt (from one of the hunts), it should help with the boss you mentioned. The optional esper in the shrine for the sword of kings was taking off 2000 hp from as well, but with a bubble belt a level 40 Vaan should have almost 5500 hp.

Quick question, and sorry if this has been asked already but the thread has become huge:

About various loot that is given to you for completing hunts and such(Arcana, Electrum, etc), are a lot of these for quests later on or are they mostly just to sell to open up bazaar items? I'm obviously aware of teleport stone use and the other quest items you are given that people specifically ask for or tell you what it is for.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So i followed what the walkthrough said to do, and i just got a deathbringer from some rare monster called an Ithuno. I'm hitting about 1700 every time with Vaan. I am seriously liking this.

Here's the link to the walkthrough:

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/f...xii_weapon.txt

Just ctrl+f, and put Deathbringer. Its pretty awesome, it's a +90 sword, and with some monsters it has an instant KO.

edit:: Sorry, it doesn't hyperlink. So just copy and paste the link into the address bar. =X

Edit x2 :: the loot is to sell to make Gil. Some have a function, like the Giant snakeskin. But mostly you sell it for cash. Also Gysahl Greens are to bring wayward chocobo to allow you to ride them.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Heyo, I went to the next dungeon after passing through the Pasmina Rift (not gonna say the name less I spoil) and I almost defeated the final boss there when I my entire party died. I guess it's worth it to get some Ice Shields before fighting said boss? Those minions are so tough. Most of my party uses two-handed weapons though. Any tips?

If anyone hasn't gone there yet, here's a word of advice. DO NOT FIGHT THE THREE DRAGONS. Come back when you're stronger. One is bad enough. Three is overkill

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I suggest trying to level up. Make sure your levels are at least lower/middle thirties. I'd say have them up to 32-36 before you even start it. Also you need to change up the weapons. Let one maybe use two handed. Let one have a shield. And let another have whatever. Its definately worth it, the shield HALVES ice damage. That is a HUGE bonus.

Ooo HALVES damage. I'll equip everyone with one-handed weapons then XD nah, just kidding.

The party is at level 27/28 right now. I was doing fine until the end, so with Ice Shields, I may be able to beat the boss without having to level up, so I'll test it tomorrow.

My top guys (Ashe, Basch, Balthier) are all at about level 35, with about 2400 something HP, but I don't think that's going to mean much in the upcoming parts. I'm at the foot of Mt Bur Omisce, but even though the enemies there are generally easy, I'm gearing up for a THIRD expedition into the Feywood. I want to get 99 sturdy bones (48,000 gil right there) from the ice snowy area.

I agree, Bubble Belt is awesome. First of all, when I got it, I was like "uhh wtf does Equip: Bubble mean" but then I saw that Vaan's HP were twice as much as before, so yeah, pretty cool stuff.

I didn't know you could get Zodiac Spear from a hunt, though (?!)

I would certainly suggest against using two-handed weapons if you're not able to beat this boss. Any increase in damage you might get from using them isn't really worth it considering the drop in Evade (and the fact that Ice Shields come in particularly handy when fighting this guy).

Apart from Teleport Stones and Gyhsal Greens, there are a few items later on in the game that you'll want to refrain from selling. But it'll become pretty obvious. Just as with Weapons and Equipment, if a loot item sells for either 0 or 1 Gil you'll know that you'll want to keep it.
