It's called "killing the dicussion". It's what you're doing right now.

Go to GameFAQs for whatever question pops into your mind. It's not just polite, it also happens to be the first rule around here.

I'm in around 40 hours of the game playing it in a very slow pace. I really like the game so far, the enviroments are incredibly nice and huge although It does have a few glitches when the people load in the beggining of each area.

I noticed a few people asking if you needed some characters for the story specificly and so far theres been no problem with that but you will need some specific characters for hunts.
I just came across a hunt that requires all the female charcter out in the party in order to attract a monster. So just warning for those of you with some low level characters.

That is true, but you can change the party before the fight again, so don't worry, you don't need to fight the monster with a female-only party

My counter says 47 hours and I think I have something around 250,000 steps. Just finished the Giruvegan "place", it was pretty annoying and the soundtrack was shit as well. I am so glad I made it out of there... When I sold the loot I was pretty surprised to see that my account has grown to about 150,000 gil, though

Hilariously enough, I found out TODAY that I can get rewards from Monblanc in the Clan HQ as well =/

Oh, and "sandmokeys", would you please try to improve your posting style, that would be awesome!

Living in England sucks. Thats all I have to say about that.

Ok, considering the fact that most of you are playing this for the first time, and have not yet completed the game, do you think you will be playing this again and again, even though (from what I can tell) the game is huuuge?

Just a question to pass the time

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

All I can say is, once the ending credits starting rolling up, it will be YEARS before I return to this series. Not that it's terrible or anything (or else I wouldn't be playing it), but I don't see myself replaying this again and again, unfortunately. Perhaps this is why I'm getting anal over getting every absol-fucking-ly everything to 100% sooner or later. That means all sidequests, hunts, sky pirate awards, every fucking single thing I can do in that game.

I just defeated the Elder Wyrm on my first try.

Spoiler:
I knew he was going to pull some crazy status ailment shit, so I packed up like 90 Hi-potions, 20 hankerchiefs, 30 echoscreens, 30 scented herbs or something (to cure confusion), and just took care of the two underlings first thing.

I highly recommend DO NOT USE QUICKENINGS first thing when you see him. You will NEED your MP to cast Esuna, assuming you aren't silenced. This was my first mistake, and I did a crappy job, which only took off like 10,000 HP out of a total of like 75,000, so that was a waste.

You can use Quickenings maybe when he's down close to the count, but no where near the opening of the battle. Use hankerchiefs to wipe off the oil, and get some anti confuse bracelets or the like, since that's the very first thing you should take care off after he does the Spore attack.

Here's the order I cured my guys:

1. Deal with confuse, this will let you use items. Use whatever members that aren't confused to use the cure, obviously. The others will just have to wait it out.
2. Deal with silence, this will let you use magic again, also use LOTS of Hi potions if necessary. I had a high HP level (2200 or so) so the poison wasn’t a huge concern, but it should be dealt with quickly.
3. Deal with all the other stuff using Esuna. (Have this as a gambit for at least 2, if not 3 of your active members).
4 Deal with the oil --> Hankerchief
5. Deal with the 2 underlings
6. By this time, the Wyrm may either use Fireball or do the Spore. The spore is the worse of the two, meaning you have to do steps 1 to 4 again. With fireball, you just have to cure or use Hi potions.
7. Kill the 2 underlings and then finally the Wyrm itself.
8. CONGRADUATIONS

I like how the guide book tells you to USE QUICKENINGS FIRST THING, fuck that, how am I supposed to use my Esuna then HUH!

I know I'll be replaying this game over and over. It has the same potential as FFVIII for luring me back when I get ideas for weird character set-ups. I'll want to try a solo game, a game with no magic, with no weapons, etcetera....

Try a no gambit game, where you're constantly micomanaging everything. I'd never do that, cause I'm slow. Hell, I even put my ATB to wait instead of active, so I can get a pause and think of what the hell I want to do.

I discovered that I had underpowered characters, so now I'm going back to the Ogir-Yensid or whatever oil plants to level up, I want to get everyone to level 20 or 19 (Currently only Vaan is 19, everyone else is 18).

I never did find the girl for the cluckatrice mark. I guess I'll wait until the rains disappear to do that one. Another reason I'm levelling up is that I had found this cavern in the middle of all of those oil rigs, which had Lv.37 giant scorpion looking monsters, with like 8 to 9k HP levels. No way would I make it out of that one against more then one (and there were multiple).

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Has anyone here still reading beat the game? I have no idea how much more time I need to sink into this. I'm having a great time, but normally 20 hours I start getting fidgety so it's a wonder I've made it to 45 hours. But at this point, the storyline is slowing down because it takes a lot more leveling to get to the next point so I end up getting sidetracked doing hunts. Not that I don't like side quests, but I don't like doing them when I want to get through the story.

So here's where I'm at:

Spoiler:
Need to head to Feywood, just beat Al-Cid. Am I even halfway through the game? I just wak a ballpark.

Great game, but I don't want to read through a guide to spoil the surprise, I am just curious if I'm halfway yet or not and how much I have left to go.

wow generic nobody cares about your opinions and look at the discussion title
final fantasy 12 and neither of ur posts are related ur just talking trash cause you have nothing to contribute to the over all discusion and hurting other people makes you feel better about yourself and by doing this you are the one killing the discussion.

To:Soapy you are just about 40% of the way through says my friend but he leveld to 50 before he went to feywood and did a buch of stuff so it may be a little less or more cause of his wanting to get a full license board

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Okay friends, let keep this a bit civil here.

At any rate, I think I've come across two dungeons so far that I don't think I can muster any courage to venture any further. Those would be the Feywood and the Zel-something caves, which you can access in the Westersand, as well as the Nam-something sandsea (check out my skills at remembering location names!)

I think the most toughest regular enemies I've encountered so far, excluding those two areas, are the Hellhounds in the Golonda (which I probably misspelt as well) jungle. Taking on one of them is alright, but each of their attacks does about 400 damage to my party, so if they do swarm me, I'm screwed.

Well I played for a few hours last night which originally was only going to be a half hour session but the game just sucks you in that by the time you look at the time you've already given up 2-3 hours.

I ended up heading back from the Golmore Jungle through the Ozmone/Giza Plains and back up north of the Eastersands to take care of that "Patient in the Desert" subquest. I managed my largest Mist Quickening change at the Broken Sands on one of those Lvl 30 Sauriens with something like a 14 hit chain dealing over 12043 damage.

My party is the same with Basch, Ashe and Balthier with all 3 around lvl 30. Basch is still the leader and powerhouse dealing around 1100HP of damage but since he's got one of those axes damage can range from 1000HP to 78HP, the trade off I suppose, while Ashe and Balthier inflict around 500HP of damage.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Heh Simo, that's almost the same configuration I have. Ashe, Basch, and Baltheir are around level 32, and they have max quickenings, but aren't dealing as much damage. Does Larsa leave your party when you get past the snowy area? I hope not, because it's nice to have a 4th hand while you're just going around level grinding in that area, and maybe head into Feywood again.

How ya doing, buddy?

you do lose him so level up and take avantage of his potions while you can cause i havent got him back in my party and i miss the free potions wahhhh
i liked not having to use any or any healing spells...
oh well
but seriously i regret not taking advantage of the little guy when i had the chance

Double Post:
also i found out that if you have a slow status you can cast haste and it will cancel out slow and give u haste benefit
this works with other stuff too

Every guest character so far are valuable members of your party. They kick so much ass.

I played for close to two hours today.

Spatty (see how I vary your name everytime I talk to you?), after reading your post on how you whooped the Elder Wyrm's ass on your first try, I went ahead and tried to tackle the stupid dragon again. I also stocked up on items before the battle, but didn't go crazy like you did. I had around 20 of each item, and I...whooped his ass on the first try. Thanks for your post, eh? I'm happy now.

Don't worry about not remembering names. I forget them myself. I can't even spell most of them.

I just finished talking to the dude after the snowy pass and stopped playing then. I thought the scene where...

Spoiler:

Vaan asks if the dude is sleeping and they all go 'SSSSH' at him and he goes 'WOAH...' Sorry, but I'm easily amused.

The Feywood scares me dreadfully.

Everyone's at level 25 now, except for Fran at level 26 and Penelo. I just don't like using her in battle. Got some more Swiftness and HP+'s so now my party are powerhouses.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't use any gambit. I'd rather manually tell them what to do because I'm just used to it after playing lots of RPGs. I'm doing just fine without them. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Good to see my method works. He's not that bad to figure out. Just take your time and prioritize healing over assault. He's got a lot of health, and you don't have much of, so focus on working on your guys first, then once you're prepared, launch your attack. However, there was one time where just as all my guys were cleared of their status ailments, he does the sponge thing again, ah fuck!

The only real item you should have lots of is Hi Potions, I had 90, but maybe used about 20 for the battle. I like Hi Potions since they come in pretty handy and I find it easier to use than having to wait for a charge of say, Curaga, which I want to save for using my other magicks.

Personally, Freelance, I can see it both ways. I enjoy the Gambit system immensely, I find it to be a new form of challenge in the series, but I can also see how someone would like to keep them off. I still find part of the fun though in finding the best combinations of Gambits for each situation. Makes me want to go play some more now...

Like all Final Fantasy, the secret to this game seems to be simply enjoying level building.

I'm currently 12 hours in

Spoiler:
I just got Basch out of prison, and stepped into the Estersand. I'm on about level 12, and Han Solo, The Rabbit-Elf, and the would-be Robin Hood all have a quickening. I have a complete beastiary so far, including beating all the beasties enough to unlock their second pages. This includes putting away the RazorFin in the sewers. I'm really enjoying murdering the hell out of things. Also, offed the fire horse with one burst of quickening followed by Inferno from the Rabbit-Elf. Cataclysm looks cool, too.

I give it one and a half thumbs up, so far. The story is very Vagrant Story meets Final Fantasy Tactics. I dig.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
