Could some of you provide me with a review of the official guide. What's the difference between the LE version and the normal one? How does it compare to the stuff on GameFAQs? Is it well organized? Does it give good advice in case you get stuck against some monsters/boss?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Um, the LE guide that I have isn't very well edited. I'm still LOLING at the "Please refer to the side quest on page ???" dealy.
Also, I'm not happy at freaking out since I thought one of the hunts didn't drop what I wanted , thanks to wolf for that.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I just went to a certain city and got a "treaty sword" at lvl 63. I did all the hunts I could and the last one I did was the 6 arm guy, his 2nd form was a pain in the ass. Anyway I want to fight the wyrm in Western rabinasture, and i'm supposed to find half of a leaf under a cactus in the dead end of I forgot the name but if you did the quest you must know of it. Anyway I went to the dead end area and clicked on both of the cactuses a billion times several times throughout the game yet I still can't find the damn leaf, can anyone give me a hint.

Also how do I open up that damn pilgrim door, and the other locked one in the underground cave palace.

I'm sure most people bought the LE guide solely for the better cover and most especially, the artbook. Am I right? :D

I generally find that boss strategies in guides are generally crap, as tips from other gamers usually give much easier ways of defeating them. That's from my own personal experiences.

Although you can find better FAQs online, I still like guides for their beastiaries (I love seeing pics of monsters for unknown reasons) and the artwork.

I'll be playing a little later, yay :3 I'm watching a movie right now.

Oh, and you're welcome, Spatty :D

Does it at least tell you about all of the subquests and how to obtain all of the items? That's really the most important thing for me.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS if you haven't finished Tomb of Raithwall:

I'm doing the sidequest where you help Dantro's Wife cure the patient in her house. Apparently, you get a reward when the patient is cured that is based upon the number of supplies you give Dantro's Wife for the medicine. The supplies required are: the Cactus Hunt drop, the Semclam Shells (5), and the Phial of Nebralim (1) in the camp where Dantro is. I found all of these supplies, but I am still getting the useless Magick Gloves instead of the Golden Amulet (double LP gain). Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? My roommate, who has the guide, told me that the map on the guide shows 2 Phials of Nebralim, but I can only find one in the game. Anyone able to get the Golden Amulet?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Did you get the Snakeskin from the Maurader in the Mines hunt? That helps as well for the reward. Yes there are 2 phials, but they are on seperate crates. And I still got the stupid magic gloves. Oh well. Also, there are 3 herbs or some shit like that where you have to use the ferry and cross over to the north end - although the monsters are tough as hell there.

The artbook is okay, and I like going OOOOOOOOHHHH AHHHHHHH over all the pictures of the weapons. But the guidebook itself also has all the weapons listed, so meh.

In the fortress town [I forget what it's called, starts with N] just outside of Rabanastre, there's two guards blocking the way to the Highwaste. Go up and listen to them talk, then hop on a Chocobo and approach them again. This will let you enter the Highwastes, and on a Chocobo as well. So you're safe from mobs.

There's one area in the Highwaste that's like a safe zone. There's a Save/Gate Crystal there, and there's a merchant that sells the Golden Amulets for [I think] 3000 gil apiece. And as far as I know, you can do this as early in the game as you want, provided you can pay for the Chocobo--800 gil.

Bah! The Elder Wyrm gives me the willies, and the area south (The Feywood) contains enemies that are too tough for me, so.....I hunted down some Marks and did a grand job of it. Killed the Cluckatrice and Rocktoise. Wanted to defeat the Wyrm Lord too, but it's too far away from a save point and I wanted to do other stuff, so I'll save it for tomorrow.

I grabbed two Swiftness licences for all save 1 person in the team, plus the hp +150. Whooo!

I need some money fast. What's the best place to do chainings right now? I suppose it's in the Sandsea?

Rotten Tomatoes in hte Sandsea drop succulent fruit which sell for 500ish. They are most prominent in the first 2 parts of map when you first come in to the sandsea, if that makes sense

The succulent fruit sells for more like 350, if I remember. The Wyvern Lord is pretty easy. Just take care of the birdmen first, then chase after him. I decided to hike all the way there, taking on the sandpeople again, just because I wanted the LP. If you want to get there sooner, just use a teleport stone to the opening stage of the Tomb of Raithwall. Wait, you're probably wanting to kill the Wyrm Lord, a different beast of nature.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Whatever that Mark is, that's the one I'm talking about. Has like over 16000 HP I think. The Rocktoise had slightly less than that, so I don't think I'll have much trouble.

350 is still good for me. I need lots of gil quick. I only have like, 2000 to my name.

By the way, are you using the guide for this game. Lots of gil, like how much? You could easily get 14,000 if you go to Bhujerba and become a hard liquor seller.

I'm at the end of the game now, all I have to do is go to Sky Fortress Bahamut, but I've decided to go back and do all the stuff I haven't done yet (which is pretty much Mob Hunts, it'll level me up more and get me nice items/weapons/armors so it should be fun).

Spoiler:
I have to admit, I was a tad dissapointed with the story midway through. Had a great opening story that kind of died after I fought Bergan, then picked up again at the top of the Pharos at Ridorana (where Gabranth and Doctor Cid gave their shpiels, and Reddas, a.k.a. Judge Zecht, died for the party). That's not to say I haven't enjoyed every second of this game, it's truly great and beautiful, I just wish there was a bit more meat in the story sandwhich if you know what I mean (great opening, meh middle, [hopefully] great ending).

The Hunts I really want to do are the ones with Gilgamesh. Also want to fight Omega, Ultima, and that one black dragon that ambushes an airship you ride on. Guess I still got a long way to go *sigh*

PS ~ What happened to Zargabaath? I haven't seen him since Drace died, maybe he'll be a villian in Revenant Wings(?)

I have the guide, yes, but I don't read the sidequests. I only read the maps and the hunts. I save sidequests for when I'm actually doing sidequests, ya know, but I'll take everyone's advice and check it all out.

Why are you using a guide during your first time playing the game? I would have thought that would sort of ruin the experience for you.

It's easier to check the maps in the guide as opposed to pressing select all the time, although some maps are so small and filled up with pics of treasure chests (Nam-Yensa, I'm looking at you) that it's better to check the map in the game.

I don't actually the text in the guide while playing. I've noticed the guide spoils a ton of stuff after reading some snippits. Maps always come in handy though.
