Opinions about Halo 2 before its release:

Quote:
i cant wait till the game of all games comes out HALO 2 it will revolutionize the gaming world

Opinions about Halo 2 after its release:

Quote:
Halo 2 sucked period.
Quote:
What is this shit. Am I even on earth.
Quote:
halo 2 is for noobs
Do you understand what I mean? The game isn't even out yet, it's stupid to draw conclusions right now. Wow, Miyamoto says that this game will be perfect, so what? Bungie also promised that Halo 2 will be the best gaming experience ever, but that's certainly not the case. Although Halo 2 isn't as bad as many say, it's still a good game despite the hype and bashing.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

To be honest, I don't expect much from Twilight Princess. The fact that they're using the Revolution controller for added features almost makes me lose interest and faith in this game. I'm not going to buy expensive new hardware just to play a game that was designed for the GameCube in the first place.

How quaint that even the slightest interpretation on his quote leads to such a different message. Miyamoto clearly says it will be "the perfect Zelda", yet the article translates this as the game being "perfect" which, while both bold claims, are entirely different.

I'll gladly take it as an attempt to release the best Zelda game yet, and I am happy if the developer really has that kind of ambition, even if I feel the game probably won't be able to match the impact of Ocarina of Time. If he feels the game is good, I'm confident I'll enjoy it too. Wind Waker was later said to be unfinished, and I didn't find anything wrong with it (other than it could have used one or two larger continents).

"Perfect" is hyperbole, of course, but the difference here is that Miyamoto has credibility, whereas most of the hype surrounding Halo 2 was, I strongly suspect, largely the work of professional plants. Miyamoto has demonstrated that he hasn't yet forgotten how good games work with Pikmin, so when the guy who created Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, and most of the previous Zelda games says Twilight Princess is going to be good, I'm inclined to believe him.

It's not like I don't have high hopes of Twilight Princess as well. But what if the game won't be that good? Everyone will bitch about Nintendo making cheap promises. It's just that I don't like it, when nearly everyone starts to get angry, since a game didn't answer their high expectations. A rating below 85% would be like a sentence of death for Twilight Princess, although this generally doesn't make a game bad.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Don't you think that's more of a problem with gamers than the game? Granted, an average Zelda game would be a bit of a shock, but the whole "9.0 is for an average game, 9.3 for decent, 9.5 for good, 9.7 for great, 9.8 and forward for excellent" warping of ratings is really the fault of mostly american (online) game media rather than the games.

Still, what exactly are you trying to prove? "Maybe the game won't be as great as you all think!" Wow, this is possibly news. It's not as if people don't think about what if any game doesn't live up to expectations, it's one of the reasons not to get too excited. But constantly telling yourself it'll let people down, that'll definitely make for a sour gaming experience. I've yet to be disappointed by a Zelda title, despite the hype (because, you know, hype is hype) and Nintendo would have to botch up pretty badly to let me down here.

I've never said that it's the game fault. It's not like I want to cut back your and my anticipation, I just don't want to see huge flame wars after Twilight Princess's release ( if it won't be that good ). I'm also going to get this game and I've never been disappointed by a Zelda game so far as well, but everything's possible. However, let's forget that defeatism-shit now.

By the way, why's there such a large number of people who really dislike The Wind Waker? I enjoyed playing it throughout.

@David Deluxe: My post was originally meant to be more of a newsflash rather than an opinion of mine. Hell, I didn't even read the article (just the headline and the introduction in italics, hence the title).

@Rock: See RushJet1's post.

Twilight Princess is being hyped to no end, that's for sure. And trust me: I'm probably one of the most sceptic persons when it comes to hyping. But this is no Sony or Microsoft after all. Zelda is Nintendo's biggest franchise, they would be stupid to make too much promises (remember the pre-release time of "The Wind Waker", they never told us it would be the best Zelda ever and voilà, there you have it - decent game but no biggie) they can't keep. And I don't really care if it won't be a masterpiece like OoT (it'll help, of course).

how can you be sure? it might have sucked or something. really, they could have refined it.

though, if they had released it in november last year, it would have been good timing for me... but it's the same story this year anyway, so i'm not unhappy.

as for the whole revolution thing- just remember, nintendo IS a company. they want profit... sometimes at the expense of gamers. selling zelda for revolution AND gamecube might piss off the 200 fanboys on forums, but realistically, those fanboys will buy the game anyway most likely, and people who aren't as hardcore but love zelda (and there are a lot of them) will snatch the game up. who knows? playing with the revolution controller in a zelda game has a certain appeal to it-- i have plenty of friends here who are "casual gamers" who are going crazy over it. some of them aren't even nintendo fans; they don't own a gamecube, and they are wanting a revolution just to play this.

now, if nintendo merely includes some minigames to play with the revolution controller but not the main quest, i can see a LOT of people being pissed. revolution controller support for the game has been hyped up too much by various sites for them to leave it out now

I've seen many times over what happens when a game is released too soon. You would not be happy with the results. If they say they need more time to perfect Twilight Princess, give it too them. Otherwise it ends up like Whiplash.

I honestly can't wait for Twilight Princess, but, if by making me wait they are going to improve the gameplay, then I guess that makes it easier to handle. I'll end up buying a Revolution for this one though - TP was going to be my reason to buy a GameCube, but since the release dates are so close...! (Maybe I've just fallen for some "plan" of Nintendos here.... lol)

I'll quote Miyamoto here: "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever".

Please go back to page 3 and look at the screens I've posted. These are not even a year old and literally scream "improve me, improve me".

I feel as if the game is going to come out on the Rev. No doubt... I mean it would be excellent if it was a GCN title... but with all of the waiting.... it could be the first big 'hit' on the rev... but then again it could be the last big hit on the GCn..... time is the only ting that can tell!

Nintendo promised several times that it will be a GCN only title (which doesn't mean that there won't be Revolution compatibility). They want to do this for the GCN owners that have long waited for the game.
I really don't think this will be converted to a Revo-title, unless Nintendo fusions with Capcom.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I guess that's not enough to re-open the Revo thread eh?

Looks damn sexy, can't wait to get my meathooks on one of those babies.

And now, stuff on Zelda.

I personally don't think think that Nintendo needs to go through with this Revo addon stuff for Zelda. I realize how it could be an asset, but it won't be for me. When i get a Revo, i'm not gonna go and play an old game for some bits and peices i can do with a new controller (assuming the add on stuff isn't like playing through the fricken game with the controller), i'm gonna be too busy shitting my pants over the Revo titles i'll have gotten with the system.

Regarding the Revo add on stuff, all the power to Nintendo, but i'm not sure if i'll take them up on it.
