Like I said, try to get all your quickenings (at least, for your main 3 characters) as soon as possible, since they multiply your max mp. Make sure to equip everyone (all 6 characters) with the LP-doubling accessory ASAP to make the most out of your kills.

Also, try to get the upgrade that regenerates mp every time you deal damage or kill a monster.

My main fighters never run out of mp, and my healer has so much that she can go a whole dungeon without running out.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

How do you use quickenings properly? Are you supposed to spam the button that shows up? I managed to get everyone a quickening and did some combo thing which killed a boss instantly I don't know if I'm doing it efficiently.

Also, are you guys leveling 3 characters only or balancing them out? It's taking a long time to level all 6. I'm averaging about an hour per level. I guess it would make sense to just work with 3, but I can't decide who to use, hehe.

Which one is the doubling LP accessory? Even with the guide I'm feeling kind of lost. At least in terms of what to do with that license board and equipment.

Hmmmm I haven't come across that accessory yet in any of the stores. Can you recall where it's actually located?

My main party is comprised of Basch, Ashe and Balthier. Basch is the leader and my primary tank and I'm going to make sure Ashe deals with the magick to be more of a "battle mage" but right now I'm not focusing on getting more augments and a Quickening for her before moving on to those. Balthier is my gunner since guns ignore defenses so I've usually got him stealing and poaching before backing the party up.

How ya doing, buddy?

I'm using Ashe as my main character. She is the only one that i fully control and get most of the damage attacks. I strongly recommend that you equip her (don't know how well it works with the rest of the cast) with a dagger since your evading rate increases considerably. With the dagger equipped i have something like 54% of evading rate and it works really well. She blocks and evades 2 out of 3 attacks.

Finally i've got all 3 quickenings for all the characters. Despite i don't like Vaan, his last quickening is awesome.

And just a little tip, try to lvl up all the characters. The bosses and mobs fights becomes MUCH easier if you can replace your characters (usually whose mp has run off because of the quickening) with the ones standing by. If you have some good reflex and some luck you'll be able to beat most bosses with little effort just with the quickenings.

I haven't used a quickening or summon once and my chars are up to about level 30 :/

Don't know why I'm just happy to let them slug it out. BTW Is there enough quickenings to get all 3 with each character?

Wooo, killed that Cluckatrice early this morning. Just decided to chain Basch and Vaan's Quickenings since they were the only two that had them at this point for me. Took the Cluckatrice down in a hit chain of 9, and used Quickenings again on one Chickatrice and just hacked away at the others. Now I've just got the Rocktoise hunt to accept from Pilika which I can do on the way to where ever I'm supposed to go next in the story. I've spent so much time in the Giza Plains already...I kind of really love the theme now.

Well that's more or less it. You wanna chain them to make a combo and then end with a Concurrence. Take my Vaan and Basch for example.

I have Vaan use his Quickening. Then on the screen, Ill see the timer going down. What I also want to see is Basch's name next to a button on the controller I'm supposed to push (like the square button), because that will allow me to chain with him. If I don't see his name, I'll hit the R2 button to "shuffle" until I see Basch's name pop up. As soon as I do I mash the square button because to make sure the command goes through.

Then it'll switch to Basch as he powers his move. Now I should see Vaan and Basch's name below. It'll basically be the same thing here, I shuffle until I see either Vaan (with a triangle button) or Basch's name highlight and push the button next to the name before time runs out. Sometimes you'll see "Mist Charge" instead of the name of the Quickening each character uses. You should try to select that whenever you can.

After chaining a few hits the timer will go down extremely fast. Depending on how many hits you chained and what level Quickenings you used, you will trigger a Concurrence. It's basically a final move. So far I got Inferno and Cataclysm (this one I got after my chain of 9 hits).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Thanks for the description, that's what happened once. I tried it one other time and I didn't know what the R2 shuffle meant. So does it matter which quickenings each character gets, since their limits would still come out the same? Like Basch has that hadooken thing.

I'll keep your post in mind, Jazz. I'll check up on my guide book to see where I should be "steering" my license points for those.

1) Quickenings
2) LP-doubling
3) MP Regenerate (I think I saw this one, but didn't have enough points to get it)

Also, does it matter which character gets what quickening?
Spoiled for the anal people =):

Since there are 18 quickenings in all, and there are 6 characters, and the max that each character can have is 3. So is there any reason for a character to not go for a quickening? Unless I save those up for the 3 special characters that I want to focus on mainly

I'm starting to use the 3 female characters - Ashe, Fran, Penelo and working them up, since they are quite underleveled, and I like to have an even party, if by chance my "male" party gets wiped out by a powerful monster, my reserve party of women, can have a fighting chance when they are swapped in. Plus I like the company of a Girls' Night Out.

So far, I've returned to Rabanastre. I've done 2 of the hunts - the Wraith and the Cluckatrice hunts, the latter being quite difficult, moreso than I anticipated, despite warnings from the guide book.

I've done the Sunstone quest (basically the same thing you did with Vaan and Penelo near the beginning of the game) but I find that doesn't net you very good rewards. You get 200 gil, 2 potions, and 1 holy stone for each Sunstone that you fill up to 100%, so I don't thinl I'll be doing much more of that.

I want to get my guys to probably level 19 or so before the following:

Story driven dungeon:
Tomb of Raithwall, as I hear the Demon Walls are scary as fuck, I mean, god damn that thing gives me the creeps. I know for the first you can just run the hell away, but for the second you have to RUN to it, then start dishing out as much as damage as possible, even with Mist attacks.

Plus, I like taking this game slowly. I've done 5 marks so far, walked probably 100,000 steps, and am about 21 hours.

Last point:

If you have the guide book (I have the limited edition version), flip to page 231, which is the sidequests section. I just want to know if you're seeing typos in this book or if it's something else.

This obviously contains spoilers for a SPECIFIC side quest, but I don't think it affects the main story. :

Read the "Patient in the Desert" quest. It asks you to flip to a page that is marked as "???" [sic]. They want me to flip to page "???", as it's written? For example, read the bottom line of the third paragraph on page 231, right hand column - 'See the "Ferryman Missing" side quest on page ???'). I think this might just be a typo...

Just normal attacks. I noticed I get the insane damage from those skeletons. After checking the guide, it says that poles take Magick Defense into consideration in dealing damage, not Defense, so the fact those skeletons use magick is probably the reason why the damage is greater.

@Dizzy: Thanks for the tip! Dagger it is for Ashe. I'm having second thoughts now about Fran though. Since she's gonna be my primary healer, I'm now thinking of getting one of those staves/rods for her, as they're good for support/magick users. Which weapon class is better, and should I just stick with bow?

I went on a skeleton killing spree in the mines before dinner, and went up to over 50 chains, earning me an award in the SKy Pirates Den. I then went ahead and did a 101 chain to see if I got anything else as a reward, but I did not :( I did sell all the extra loot to earn enough money for the Forgotten Grimore though :3

I really don't feel like levelling Penelo, and I don't know why. I'm sure I could probably survive with the other 5 though. Vaan and Fran are now at level 17, everyone else is at level 16, and Penelo's at level 11.

I don't think it actually matters what Quickenings each character has.

Vaan has Red Spiral for me, and Basch has Dark...something. But from what I've been reading, no matter what Quickening spot you open up on the board for Vaan (I had one on the very top by one of the Accessory licenses, and Basch's was one on the bottom near the Axe & Hammers licenses), he will always get Red Spiral for his Lvl. 1 Quickening, and it will be similar for other characters (Basch will always get Dark whatever first, Fran will always get Feral Strike first, I think...not sure since I don't have her's yet).

So you're basically just unlocking each character's personal set of Quickenings when you buy the license.

And I also saw a list of Concurrences on GameFAQs, it only matters how many times you chain it, and what the level of the Quickening is to get certain Concurrences. I don't know if the combinations are complete yet, but it's something to keep in mind, I guess.

Oh and Spatula, about the page thing, I'm seeing the same thing in mine, too. I have no idea why it's like that, it confuses me O.o It's like they made placeholders but forgot to put in the numbers before they printed or something...

I think that's going to be my next move - do the skeleton run in the Lhusu Mines (that's where you were, right Wolf?), since I found myself quite overwhelmed by their great numbers when I first went in there. Do they automatically respawn even if you don't leave the map? I find most of them okay, but they are pretty good at ganging up. Enough to get the Forgotten Grimore you say? 18,000, that's a LOT. LOL selling all those bone fragments eh?

Yeah, that's where I was. If you go deeper into the mines, there's nothing but skeletons there, making it very easy to do a chain run. I had the best luck on the bridge, where two or 3 skeletons appear at a time. If you kill a set, run further on and kill the next set, and by the time you kill them, a new set will appear if you go back. Just keep going back and forth along the bridge and have at it. So yes, they respawn even if you don't leave the area.

Each bone fragment sells for over 100, so it shouldn't take too long to get the book.

Yeah, a single run (just one way across the bridge and back) can net me about 7000, so this should be easy. Can I get to Bhujerbah by the Aerodome in Rabanastre? I don't want to unnecessarily use a teleport stone.

How deep in the mines are you talking about? Some of it seems sealed off to me. If I go to where the magnicite is, there's an iron door there that blocks my way.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah, you can get there through the Aerodrome. It costs a little over 200 for a ticket. Choose the option to walk around the ship, 'cause you can get a little sidequest there if you talk to the head steward. Chose the first option.

Nah, you don't need to unlock any gates to do the run. Take a look at the map in your guide. The bridge I'm talking about is the Shunia Twinspan.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, no...some parts are blocked off as you said, but I can get to the Twinspan. If you cant get there, then I suppose the gate to Oltam Span is blocked off. In the room before that gate, there is a raised platform on the right with a lever where Treasure Chest 1 on the map is.

I'm off to bed now.

LP Doubling Accessory: Gold Amulet

You can start buying them at... well, it's a location with the initials Mt. B.O.
location name:
Mt. Bur-Omisace

If you're still at the Raithwall Tomb, you still have a few dungeons to get through to get to Mt. B.O.

This way, instead of needing 16,000 LP to max out a license board, you'll only need 8,000.

Ahh yeah I just looked up the Gold Amulet. Looks like I'm about to head there. I need to save up some money to get that. Do you guys steal constantly to get more loot? I'm always so broke I haven't done many hunts, by looking at the rewards, it's not a huge amount of cash, and I don't feel like using a teleport stone to get to certain places.

When I'm in an easy dungeon, I have the person with the fastest speed or speed lores to gambit with steal to any foes in the area, while the others attack. Sometimes you can steal from the enemy, then kill it and get it's loot through killing it as well, so that's a 2 for 1 deal.

Also, has anyone gotten the pouch technick? Does it work the same way as mug?

Poach is not really a mug. At critical HP, you attempt to turn the mob into loot. You don't get xp from it though. However, if you are in need of cash and you don't mind taking the XP hit, then poaching is your quick way to loot to sell. I went on an hour poaching spree back when I was level 16-17 to outfit my characters. Had gambits on so I just run up to things and steal/poach before the mob died (however, doesn't work when you 1 shot things >_<). Here's the gambit line's I used.

On one character:
Code:
Heal gambit
Foe: Critical HP > Steal
Foe: targeting Ally > Attack
And the other two characters:
Code:
Heal gambit
Foe: Critical HP > Poach
Foe: targeting Ally > Attack
If you're not succeeding steals, then have 2 steal, 1 poach. You will get loot guaranteed and the mob will die. You won't get any xp, but it funded all my characters to get ringmail/chainmail/weapons/magics before going to the Ozmone Plains. Then I realized my characters were under leveled yet really really well equipped.

EDIT: Stupid Typo.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
