At any rate if you run a local server (which is pretty easy to do in L4D) you can already load Death Toll and Dead Air in Versus Mode; they're just horridly unbalanced in their current incarnations.
I had no idea. I saw something like that in PA's forums but I didn't realize they were already playing those campaigns.

I think I'd enjoy the novelty, even if I wasn't alive for very long. D:

Remember when I threw that molotov, and I was all "Goodbye!" and you were like "NO WAY" and then I was all "I pretended I was going to murder you"? That was great.

ER, I MEAN SORRY FOR SETTING EVERYONE ON FIRE.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You think that's bad? Try getting shot and incapacitated by the person you're trying to revive and you're the only one still standing.
You think that's bad? Remember the time I was given a salmon-helmet by the prophet Mohammed?

</southpark>

Anyway, the increasingly-popular "Run-Through-The-Subway-As-Fast-As-You-Can-On-Expert" strategy, my mates all being incapacitate, and me shoving a Molotov in a Tank's face got me the Man Vs. Tank achievement. I realize that's not exciting to most people, but when it takes three hours to fail something, you have to see the silver lining somehwere.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Awesome game, Brady. Hope to do it again without all the totem-poling sometime.

Totem pole was my idea.

We got a pretty shitty team, though. Those Ink and Judge characters kept going off or spawning in bad places. I'm surprised we gave you so much trouble to be quite honest.

Yeah, there were a lot of bad decisions made on both sides I think, like my team basically circling the goddamn gas station about 40 times.

"Let's go back for that other kit!"

"No, we need to keep mo—"

"I'm going for it, cover me!"

"FFFFFFF"

Also I forgot to close my mapping program before I joined, so I was rocking an awesome 15-20 FPS most of the time

got caught by whoever the smoker was there.

Only decent snag I got all game, though, since as you say the tongue was buggy as fuck. I fired at you a good five times while you were held up at the warehouse just after the NM3 starting saferoom, and it just bounced off you over and over.

I'll have to keep a closer eye on the GFF Steam group whenever I'm thinking of playing. Sounds like I'm missing out.

Plarom and I boosted for about three and a half hours last night. Did the patch fuck up the "Man Versus Tank" achievement? One of our players killed two tanks singlehandedly on versus and didn't get the achievement either time...

Yeah, that was me. I haven't been able to find anything mentioning the patch preventing that from working, but I did find this alternate method that I'm going to try out later. I didn't realize it was possible to change the difficulty back and forth in the middle of a level to easily kill off the AI players.

I tried that trick several times and it didn't work. Then one day I hopped on the minigun and just went at it and dropped the sonuvabitch.

Well, it worked fine for me just now. It took three tries before the tank showed up where the video said it would, but at least it gave me the achievement. The other two times it was a witch.

Just saw that news about the free DLC this morning and have to say hell yeah, great news. Definitely happy about the 360 getting in on the free action too.

Fantastic to hear about the free DLC for both platforms. Of additional note for us on the PC side, is this tidbit:

Which means (I think) it will be a lot easier for custom mods like the Mall from Dawn of the Dead, to be released.

Just "accidentally" hit her in the face again. That should clear the weekend up for some zombie hunting.

Okay; I've been playing this a whole lot recently, and I'm starting to actually fare pretty decently in versus. Steam name is fnool; I'd be delighted to wreck shit with you guys.

Alright, just tried to play this darned game in single player and was met with this weird stuttering issue where every few seconds the game would pause and sound would loop for 1-5 seconds. The demo ran great, I tried setting graphics settings lower, and I've restarted twice.

Edit: Just tried the game in multiplayer and it did the same fucking thing. Arg.

Two things:

Are you playing on a multicore system, and if so, have you tried disabling multicore rendering in the game options?

or, if that doesn't work—

are you running an Nvidia card? The newest drivers have some problems with L4D since the latest patch, so it's recommended to roll back to 178.24.

Yes to both of those, but I found a fix that said to play the game in windowed without borders and you can keep whatever drivers you have as well as multicore on, and it worked for me. Haven't tried multiplayer yet, just went through the first few levels on single player without a problem. Well, other than me apparently sucking compared to when I played the demo, but no PC related issues now.

I had the sound stuttering problem and it was precisely cause of the nvidia driver. I rolled back to a previous driver and multicore works fine. If one has the latest driver, disabling multicore removes the stuttering and I didn't spot much of a visual difference.

Apologies to anybody who tried to join our game tonight and got bounced. We were testing the "City Naniwa" custom campaign and (obviously) random joiners wouldn't have the files.

As for the campaign itself, I absolutely do not recommend it. It's a bland, miserable maze with absolutely no indication of where the fuck you're supposed to go.
