lol.

Also, I find this Ability system really interesting. As you'd do the following

Spoiler:
It seems that in order to obtain such abilities like: magic spells, Gambit. You would need L.P (License Points). Which're no doubt obtained by means of killing enemies/bosses. Which're like used in a similar way that you use AP to purchase your Ability on FFX's Sphere Grid. In this game, you would move your characters about a board that looks similar to that of a chessboard

Also, the beloved Super Attack (Hissatsuwaza) has returned. Or otherwise known as Limit Breaks. In this game they're called "Mist Knacks" (japanese name for it). Which will no doubt be changed in the english version. As compared to previous FF games, where they had an innate only Limit Break attack. In this game, it seems that you can assign the Limit Breaks to each character. At this time though, it's unclear how you activate the Mist Knacks (Limit Breaks) in this game

This question might have been flung around here (and perhaps the old FFXII thread pre-crash) but does anyone know of Japanese voicing in the NA release? I highly doubt it, but meh, I've never been impressed with NA voice acting.

I doubt the Japanese dubs are all that great either, but at least I won't understand close to 95% of their whiney bitchy voices. (Actually I have yet to hear any of the voices for FFXII characters.)

PLAYASIA is selling for $84 w/o shipping I believe.

YESASIA is selling for pretty much the same price. I bought from them before and they seem competent enough.

Here is some special limited edition FFXII memory card. Interestingly enough.

And,

Here is some preview "world" book.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Well, I'd rather wait for the U.S version (coming later this year). As it's priced at a more reasonable range. Which's $49.99 ($51 counting tax). But for the acting, I dunno. I only heard Vaan's so far. And it seems only "okay". But not the best seiyuu out there.

Same, I'll wait. Getting it now won't help cause my PS2 is sad and unmodded --> a "virgin" PS2. So add another $140 some if I REALLY wanted to play it. Oh yes, MGS3:SUB comes out for $40. That should keep me busy for a while.

There's been no word on dual VA tracks but I doubt it'll happen and only the English dub will remain. At least on the Japanese dub they've got Akio Otsuka (Solid Snake) voicing Judge Master Gabranth so it can't be all bad.

Some Impressions from Japanese gamers who have the leaked copy of the game.

Credits go to Supreme Knight, runedh and Khalahaley for finding and translating these:

-At first he thought that it'd be really action oriented, but it seems its rather similar to ATB, and likes it personally.
-The game is balanced and challenging, but it's easy to escape from battle, and the save points fully heal, so there aren't any places where you will get stuck because of the difficulty. (Note: So far, when the character's levels are still around lv10)
- It's hard to level up.
-You can wonder around quite a bit even early in the game, go to a lot of optional places, but the enemies are strong so you'll most likely die or have trouble if you wander too far off.
-He hasn't learned any "limit breaks/special attacks" yet. He can, but don't want to waste LP.
-Cannot change camera controls(normal/reverse wise)
-Apparently, cities are really huge, and lots of NPCs to talk to, and sometimes you might even feel there's too much to do(city exploration/talking wise);
-Someone had asked if there were any powerful weapons you can buy that you cant equip during early parts of the game, and he said no.
-You can skip FMVs (but not pause them). No idea about normal cutscenes yet. (I believe you can skip them as well)
-Apparently, real-time cutscenes look very good

Not sure if these are reliable but anyway...

-Few CG(Not sure whether it's refering to FMVs or normal scenes) scenes.
-Good real time scenes.
-Fran is good with magic and bow.
-HP something cannot be remove(Not sure about this)
-Someone(the katakana is too small to be seen clearly or wrong)'s seiryuu is just ok,not too good.
-Theme song(Not sure if it's Hope or Kiss Me Goodbye)is played during the opening
-no wide screen support
-Only members in party receive EXP & LP
-Potion cost 75 gil
-Need different licences for swords,double handed swords and short swords/daggers

- easy to understand where youre next destination is, no loading during battles;
- not many hints are given, so you get a strong feeling of exploration, cannot change camera controls;
- the random review guy also mentions you can pause during events;
-and you cant move with the whole map showing;

Mentioned By Reviewers
1.It takes a while to get used to the new battle system but once you get used to it,it feels like you're playing the older FFs.Can still stop to consider your actions(in wait mode)

--The seamless non loading battles keeps the exciting pacing throughout gameplay.
--Lots of difficult enemies right from the start so it's difficult to play mindlessly.
--With the combination of the licence system and the A.I. Gambit system,battles are interesting with a slight tactical element.After you get used to the system it becomes easy to use good tactics.However for those who find it troublesome,you can just stick to the default setting.
--Feels that the LP system is good.
(It seems that all the characters join very early.)---This is a comment from the chinese forum topic creator---However if you train all of them in the same direction,you'll have difficulties with some bosses.

New but short gameplay video. Credit to DullahanEX for finding it:
http://rapidshare.de/files/15380450/ff12.avi.html

It looks like Hume enemies actually do drop Gil when defeated compared to the rest of the enemies and monsters in the game which don't drop any Gil, only special items for you to trade in.

Slight spoiler in regards to characters assisting as possible 4th party members:
Spoiler:
Also it looks like A.I controlled party members assist in battle on special occasions too since Vaan, Balflear, Fran and Ashe are all seen in the video fighting the Arcadian soldiers but Ashe isn't isn't listed in the party.

Thanks Phatcorn and Godai for the info
But what does Flicker Filter do?

As for the cash-in Gil looting method, it makes the whole thing much harder doesn't it? This method just reminds me of most MMORPG game system where only humanoids drop currency and other trash mobs drop items for garage sell

Is it true that most Jap shops already have them in their storage? Coz one friend from Jap messaged me that his shop just got them this arvo and he already started playing it *cries* So unfair...

I guess so but none of the reviewers have complained about the Gil system. It's true that some stores in Japan already have the game but as I posted above Sony issued a notification to retailers that if they break the street date then they were going to dispatch their ninjas to take care of them...or something to that effect.

BTW where is your avatar from and is there a bigger version available?

So does that apply to like online shipping companies like yesasia.com? Because normally when I pre-order games on yesasia, most of the time they tend to get here 1 day earlier... so thats why I was expecting my copy to arrive at 15th March... but i guess since the SE-Ninjas are on the loose I might be getting mine on the day or one day late >_<

I suppose the flicker filter can be compared to anti aliasing, this option is in God Of War or Tekken 5, fonts are smoothed and the screen seems more stable

when activated, it should be less tiresome for the eyes, like setting higher refresh rates on your computer screen, the problem is TV's only support 60hz so it's a technical trick i don't know much about but it should be set to "on" while playing for a better experience

I'm not entirely sure, I mean it looks like at least 1 retailer has broken the street date which is why we got snaps of the manual along with some screengrabs and footage. Still I don't think it would affect online retailers all that much because they could probably argue that titles wouldn't reach customers until the street date but don't quote on me that.

OLD NEWS
"Ship date not confirmed and subject to change."

We may not a specific date but at least we've got some kind of information from Famitsu and the SE President for a "Summer" release. I just hope it isn't October. Just waiting until August is bad enough let alone an additional 2 months.

Double Post:
I guess the game is already available in some parts of China. Some snaps of the packaging and disc from A9VG:

They also comment on the A9VG boards how the game is on a DVD5 disc that is only 3.7GB in size.

You can also check some crude photos someone took of their TV screen with the game running including some snaps of the rolling demo on the title screen, opening FMV, save screen and the first few moments of gameplay:

Dang, should have preorder FFXII from a china bid site then >__<"

I am awed at the actual space it took up and actually can fit in to 1 single-sided DVD I was expecting at least a dual-layered DVD or 2 DVDs

But woot, easy rip then ^ ^

I hope that doesn't mean the game might be short, or have sparse dialogue. Perhaps it's because there's a smaller amount of FMV.

Has anyone read any reviews in regards to story? I'm curious if Matsuno succeeded in creating a dark story akin to FFT, full of betrayal, deaths, double-crossing, triple-crossing, and so on.

I don't think it will be short, I just think a lot fewer FMV, which is pefectly fine with me. I would be happy with just FMV for the intro, ending, and a battle and town intros here and there, not an FMV for every new event in the game.

I can't wait for this, only my 2nd ff to play in jap along with VIII.

It was mentioned there would be less FMV than previous FF titles but who knows. As for the story, Famitsu briefly mentioned it in their review with one reviewer expressing how "great" it was and that the voice acting was "impressive".
