Oh, heh, now I see what you were trying to say. Pretty much anyone getting this "trial," though, will be getting the free download, unless they manage to forget about it for three months.

And yeah, 28Link, it's a one-time 500 point purchase, and that's only if you don't get if free before July.

Looks like Metroid & Mario are being pushed back to Q4 '07. Can't say I'm all that surprised really, as much as it sucks...

I'm sure there's going to be enough games released until then to keep the rest of us amused.

It's true, though, big hit titles aren't necessarily the biggest console sellers anymore.

Zelda was delayed. Totally worth it.

Slayer X's article is nothing new though. They got their information from CVG as well, and also noted the same thing Infernal said about the delays possibly only being PAL.

a) Welcome to yesterday.
b) Still just a rumor from a none-too-reliable source
c) They are British, and could just be talking about PAL

If this turns out to be true, I wouldn't mind so much (Even though releasing a console with your flagship mascot's game a year after sounds insane)

So long as there are plentiful, quality titles to fill in the gap, then it's fine. One of GC's biggest killers was the droughts it went though. I'm assuming Nintendo learned it's lesson.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Nintendo learned its lesson, but a lot of companies cautiously supported it in the months before. Everyone seems to be on board fine now (EA opening a studio specifically for Wii titles seems to exemplify this), but that means the next four or five months will be rough.

Could be wrong, though. The Wii did get Elebits and Metal Slug Anthology (yes, I know the latter is multi-platform) in less than a month.

Yeah, it's probably just pal. They feed us some crumbs once in a while, probably because they "ought to", or maybe to shut us up after enough whining, as any would the bastard child.

Hey, did you guys know:
Starfox Command won't be here til january 26.
Metroid Prime Pinball doesn't even have a release date yet.

Guess what N, your plan suffocating the pal regions works.
I've already played through SFC. As for getting MPP for a rumble pack also won't matter, as I long ago importet the Lite edition.

Hell, the only games I've bought from this region for nearly a year, are the few from launch day.

It's terrible that you guys missed out on Wario Ware Twisted and Metroid Pinball. They even released them here for crying out loud! Well, at least they've picked up both Kororinpa and Wing Island to be released in February and March~

Indeed, seems like a neat game, but IGN's previews have me a bit skeptical. The controls still need a bit of finetuning it seems.

As for Wing Island, Power Unlimited (Dutch gaming magazine) already reviewed it and gave it a 5.0, saying the controls are fun but the game is way too short and not challenging enough. Still, waiting to see what others think about it.

Wow, play-asia's selling 3rd party Wii component cables here for $10. I'll probably order one because I have a 3rd party PS2 component cable which works great, and I'm sure as hell not paying the high price just for an official name slapped onto the product.

Apparently Wing Island is simply terrible.

Anywho, about the delays... I highly doubt it. They need AAA titles to carry them into spring, and especially something huge for the end of their fiscal year (march is the new november lol.) Chances are that will be Metroid. Or Smash. Whatever, both are super.

Well, if they can't release anything in that time they COULD try to release some games utilising the Mii characters. Something quick and simple, but great for multiplaying frenzy.

We can't keep playing Zelda, Wii Sports, Trauma Centre (among others) until Q4 2007 can we?

Ohhh, yeah I was wondering when that Kororinpa game was gonna make it here. It looks awesome, though it seems like single-player MONKEYBALLS, with less MONKEY... so it's just BALLS.

Maybe not "simple" Mii games, but things like Mario Party and any Mario sports property are fair game for stuff to fill the gaps.

It doesn't really matter at this point. If there's currently nothing filling that gap, they definatly won't be able to start & finish any projects before the delayed release dates. So you're stuck with what you were already going to get, just with a couple less AAA titles within the next year. Problem is that Nintendo doesn't have enough 3rd party support to be playing around with such vital things like Metroid & Mario. So while Sony starts to clean up from spring to fall, Microsoft & Nintendo won't be back in the loop till winter '07 (except for Lost Planet, Mass Effect & Bioshock)

Wrong thread, bud:

Anyways, has anyone (in NZ or AUS) been able to download the beta version of Opera yet? Or do we have to wait until America gets to Friday?

Can't wait to see how internet works on Wii.

I hope 3rd paties have other titles to release than the stupid Wii-makes. This new trend is not making me very happy about the Wii right now. If I want to fucking play gamecube games I will buy them on my fucking gamecube. If this continues it will ruin the system. Yea, a new Prince of Persia game, OH WAIT IT IS A FUCKING REMAKE OF PP: The Two Thrones, YAY!!!! I can buy that used on GC for 17$. YAY a new Medal of Honor game, Oh WAIT it is based on a PS2 game. You get the idea.

Companies need to start making software for the Wii and using the Wii's enhanced gfx capabilities. Further, they need to stop just trying to implement some half-assed motion control and design a game from the ground up for the control scheme. These wii-makes are not going to keep selling the system and in light of possible setbacks on Nintendo's major releases, they are making the 2007 release lineup look like utter asshole.

I sure hope 3rd parties pull theire heads out of their assholes and start making real games for this system.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

While that would probably be nice, it's not very likely at this point. Society is 68%visual based, ask any marketer and they'll tell you the same. Therefore graphics are a huge thing in the promotion of ANYTHING. Also add in the fact that Nintendo has majorly lost the last two console wars, and then the drastic change of the Wii's controls. Not only do 3rd parties have to invest more R&D resources in just figuring out how to use the Wii controls well in games, to make an entire game for the system (that can't be ported) is a huge gamble at this point. Especially if they can just rehash current games and make a quick buck. All in all for some 3rd parties they need Nintendo to survive, for other companies like Square, Namco & Konami it wouldn't really hurt them any if Nintendo does bad, hence the rehashing.

While this state could change over time. It is going to take some serious 3rd party support from a couple companies before the rest take the Wii seriously.

UPDATE:
That's just great, now Wii Play has been pushed back too. At least it's only to mid January

Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii. So far I have had more fun with Zelda and Wii sports than I could ever dream of on any of the existing PS3 or Xbox 360 games. My PS2 is still getting more play than the PS3 could get in a year of time because the vast amount of great games on it. I could care less weather the gfx are ridiculous, I just want them to be well produced, and have a high level of artisticness, like Zelda. Hell, Rougue Squadron 3 looks better than any existing Wii game ( I was playing it last night) yet it runs on a system half as powerful. Heck it even looks as good as some of the 360 games.

Its all about the programing and the willingness to sacrifice a little effort for what will eventually amount in a profit. There is a huge userbase on the Wii for it being this early in the game. DEVS NEED TO MAKE USE OF THIS AND RELEASE GAMES THAT PEOPLE WILL BE SALIVATING OVER. They will want it for its great gameplay and overall well produced look. None of this wii version of FarCry, from the "hey I wouldn't even be able to produce a good atari 2600 game" development team BS. It seems like this whole industry save for a few is turning into a bunch of half baked assclowns. All taking example from EA's patching team.

edit: heh he said he's going straight over to grab his wii.

I was speaking idiomatically.
